Hardware :: How To Connect With Netgear Wireless Print Server

Jul 9, 2007

I have tried to connect to a Netgear WGPS606 wireless print server. I cannot get any document to print to it. The computer recognizes both printers that are connected to it and will print to each one if they are directly connected to the computer, however, I am unable to connect to the print server. Has anyone done this? I have contacted both Apple and Netgear and no one at either place

OS X :: Lag In Print Time Between MacBook Pro And Netgear Print Server Connection?

Dec 6, 2010

I have had difficulty in attaching my HP Photosmart C5580 printer to my new MacBookPro (OSX 10.6) through my Netgear WGPS606 print server. After much searching I found previous posts here which advised me to add the Gutenprint driver 5.2.6 which I did. That finally DID successfully attach the printer through the server.

However, there is a lag of many seconds (sometimes minutes) between the SEND command and the starting of the printer. Is this the new normal that I need to expect or is there a fix?

MacBook Pro :: Can't Connect To Internet - Using Wireless Modem To Connect To The Netgear Wgt624

Dec 27, 2007

I have a blackbook (intel core 2 duo) and I can connect to my landlord's wireless network (they have a netgear wgt624) but I can't actually use the web (Safari or Firefox will just "think"). I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.

*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?

Hardware :: Need Plug-in Print Server (like Netgear PS101v2) For Mac

Sep 6, 2009

Snowcat won't even see my HP LaserJet, which is connected to an ethernet hub through an old Farallon AppletalkToEthernet adapter. I think it's because Appletalk is no longer supported, but would like an expert opinion on that. Assuming that's the case, i figure a new print server attached to the parallel port would do the trick. Problem is finding one that doesn't say it requires Windows.

Tiger to Snow Leopard and then found out I had lost my connection to the Netgear WGPS606 Print server that for years has served me flawlessly to use my HP Photosmart 8100 printer. Apparently it has something to do with Apple having removed support for Appletalk (???) Searching the web and Netgears website I can only find the instructions for Tiger, which I already had back when I first set up the print server.

Got my MacBook Pro today and can't connect wirelessly. Internet works fine when plugged in via LAN cable. I've noticed that whenever 'Mac friends' come round they can't connect either so it must be a Mac only problem. Obviously this wasn't really a problem but now I've converted it has become one.

Software :: Macbook Pro Cannot Connect To Netgear

Mar 26, 2009

I cannot connect my 2006 macbook pro to landlord's netgear router. It won't connect at all. I can connect my windows XP laptop though with a netgear rangemax wireless PC card (not without it even though my ibm t41 has wireless built into it).

Password to the router is 13 digits long, 64 bit (according to the landlord) and WEP encrypted. I tried adding $ symbol but then it won't let me add some of the other password digits. Using Mac osx 10.4.11, 2.16ghz Intel core 2 duo.

MacBook Pro :: Can't Connect To Netgear WiFi

Jun 28, 2014

I have a Netgear N900 router and although I can find the signal I cannot connect to the wifi.  Each time I clicked on it, it would fail to connect and say to move closer to the router.  However the router has already been upgraded to make the signal strong enough to reach my room.  I have tried restarting the router and it has not worked.  I have gone into the router through my browser and reserved an IP address and changed my network settings on my computer to "using DHCP with manual address" and entered the reserved IP address.  I restarted my computer but now my macbook pro says that it is connected but I can't connect to the internet when i open a browser.  I'm not sure if I'm not reserving the IP address correctly or if there is another solution to this problem.

OS X :: MBP Connected Wirelessly To Netgear DG834 But Cannot Connect To The Internet?

It claims to be connected to the Internet through Network Diagnostics but cannot resolve any sites (or gmail etc) in both Safari & Firefox. (And yes, all updates have been installed, and yes it connects flawlessly via Ethernet.)

I don't think it's the new router as my iPhone happily connects through it as well as a wireless PC notebook that I have, so why is the MacBook Pro having a problem?

OS X :: Unable To Connect To Netgear Wifi Router / Update Not Working?

Apr 13, 2009

It took me a lOOONG time but I finally bit the bullet and bought a macbook. So far so good, I will be giving it a memory upgrade in a few weeks but right now I could use some serious help.

The computer won't connect to my Netgear WGR614 wifi router. I called Apple, they said the airport works and I may need a router firmware update. I updated the Netgear router. I have tried using the WEP, the WPA and also tried with the router set to zero security. The macbook still won't connect. Here is the kicker, my old windows based laptop and my wifes newer netbook picked up the new upgrade without issue.

The macbook (I loaded all the macbook updates with hardwire) will go through the network diagnostics and end up being unable solve the problem.

OS X :: Unable To Print In Linux Print Server / Not Creating Printer

Dec 27, 2010

I'm new to Mac OS X, but have been working with Linux for almost 9 yrs now. I have set up a Linux box with CUPS 1.3.9. I can print from the server, and from other Linux stations to that remote server. However, I can't print from a client MacBook.

I set up CUPS on the client Mac via http://localhost:631 and created a printer associated with the remote queue / printer on Linux (the URL I use on OS X is http://mylinuxserver:631/printers/hpprinter and the driver is RAW).

I have no problems sending a test page from the CUPS web interface on Mac OS X to the Linux server -- the test page gets printed OK. However, I can't see the printer I just defined from other Mac OS X apps, and neither can I see it from the Add Printer Dialog on System Preferences (it's empty).

I tried creating the printer at the Add Printer dialog, but it would neither let me specify an HTTP URL (as far as I know, I had to use the IP icon on the toolbar) nor specify "RAW". So I tried creating a "dummy" printer in the Add Printer dialog, with a basic config, and then changing it from the CUPS web GUI. This didn't work either, since when I went back to the Add Printer dialog, the printer was gone.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Cannot Connect To VPN Service Unless Server Is Locally Logged Into

Jun 27, 2012

I work remotely a lot.  After I upgraded to Lion server, I am unable to connect to the VPN service remotely unless I physically go over to the server (mac pro) and log into the desktop manually.

Previously, if my Snow Leopard server restarted (due to power failure, etc) and it re-booted up to the login screen, I could still logon to the VPN remotely as the VPN service would always startup (at the login screen) without a user having to be logging in.

Now, with Lion Server (10.7.4), if the server restarts, I cannot login back to the VPN. I have to get someone to go over to the server and manually login, then I can access VPN just fine. (I do not, and will not turn automatic login on on my server due to the huge security risk.)

How do I get the Lion Server VPN service to startup before or at the logon screen even if no user is logged in?

OS X Server V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Server Admin Cannot Connect

I'm trying to using Server admin on a remote Mac to manage our xserve. Both are running 10.6.8 and I've installed the Server Admin tools onto the mac. Both the Workgroup manager and Server Monitor work OK on the mac, but whenever I try and connect the Server Admin it always comes up with the error : "The login information is incomplete for this server or is not valid. The server failed to accept the login information you provided for <servername>. Check the name and password and try to log on again" I can't connect using the server name, FQDN, or IP address. The macs are all using OD and AD and I've tried both AD and local OD accounts (all administrative) but to no avail. DNS is working OK and I can resolve the server-name with dig and dig -x. I can screen share the server so connectivity isn't the problem.

OS X Server V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Cannot Connect To Server

Apr 30, 2012

I am running multiple services with the latest version of OS X Server (10.6.8) on my MacMini (web, vpn, mail, ichat, ical, address book, etc.) . Everything has been working fine for the last year and no changes have been made to the server, settings, ISP, or DNS, with the exception of installing the latest system software updates. Now, when I try to open my websites or connect remotely via VPN I get a "cannot connect to sever" message.  All other services are still working as they should. The server is hooked up to an Airport Extreme via a cable modem with a static IP. I have tried the following thus far:

1) checked all cables and they are plugged in and seated properly.

2) restarted the server, airport extreme, and cable modem

3) turned Web services off and on again in Server Admin

4) checked the DNS via the web and my site addresses are pointing to my static IP address

5) checked the Airport's port mapping to make sure Web Service was still on

6) checked my websites SSL certificate to make sure it's current and enabled

7) tried disabling SSL

8) created and enabled a new self-signed SSL certificate

Recent log activity shows:

Apr 29 11:38:49 xxxxxx-corp org.apache.httpd[47667]: Syntax error on line 13 of /etc/apache2/proxy_sites/0000_any_8443_localhost.conf:

Apr 29 11:38:49 xxxxxx-corp com.apple.launchd[1] (org.apache.httpd[47667]): Exited with exit code: 1

I'm assuming the "key.pem' does not exist or is empty" part is the issue, but I am a novice and have no idea what that means.

Hardware :: Looking For A OS X Compatible Print Server?

Dec 14, 2007

We're wanting to get a HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One inkjet printer shared on a network. I bought a Netgear PS121 USB 2.0 printer server which worked with the HP printer and I was able to print to the printer through the printer server over the network from a Windows machine. I tried printing to the same print server from a Mac-mini running OS X Tiger with no success. It appears the HP Photosmart print driver I installed on Tiger didn't install a PPD in CUPS to allow for network printing. When I connect the Photosmart printer directly to the Mac-mini, I can print just fine. When it's connected to the print server, the print server rejects the print job.

When I define the print server to the Mac-mini, Tiger wants to use the Generic Postscript driver. I define the print server using the IPP printer definition area.

I tried installing Bonjour for Windows XP on the Windows machine and using that to print to the HP Photosmart printer when it was physically connected to the Mac-mini and I WAS able to print a test page once but I made the stupid mistake of changing the printer driver on Windows that was setup by Bonjour and I haven't been able to print to the Bonjour shared printer since.
