Is there a way to force Safari to print what I see on a webpage, and not default to the print style? I'm trying to print a graphically-rich site and the print.css doesn't cut it, making everything look like trash (unformatted text, etc.).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to print an Excel 2004 .xls spreadsheet file where I'm using to record attendance for the class I teach.I have my main Column A with Rows A-X and it shows up fine, I imagine because there is content in the boxes.
But I also have Columns B-L and rows A-X with nothing in their cells, but when I print it, they won't print.I need these blank because I'll check them off if the child in the first column attended the lesson. How do I make it so my many blank cells will print as well?
I'm new to Mac OS X, but have been working with Linux for almost 9 yrs now. I have set up a Linux box with CUPS 1.3.9. I can print from the server, and from other Linux stations to that remote server. However, I can't print from a client MacBook.
I set up CUPS on the client Mac via http://localhost:631 and created a printer associated with the remote queue / printer on Linux (the URL I use on OS X is http://mylinuxserver:631/printers/hpprinter and the driver is RAW).
I have no problems sending a test page from the CUPS web interface on Mac OS X to the Linux server -- the test page gets printed OK. However, I can't see the printer I just defined from other Mac OS X apps, and neither can I see it from the Add Printer Dialog on System Preferences (it's empty).
I tried creating the printer at the Add Printer dialog, but it would neither let me specify an HTTP URL (as far as I know, I had to use the IP icon on the toolbar) nor specify "RAW". So I tried creating a "dummy" printer in the Add Printer dialog, with a basic config, and then changing it from the CUPS web GUI. This didn't work either, since when I went back to the Add Printer dialog, the printer was gone.

i'm trying to print some stuff off using adobe and some parts are printing, but some aren't. I've had this problem before i would print of some formula sheets for my finance class and basically if it wasn't a letter it wouldn't print it off but now it's taking out a lot more.
in the first picture you can see how i went through and wrote the stuff in, wasn't that big of a deal.
second picture is one page from the file that printed out fine
third picture, the entire top part is supposed to have a paragraph on it.
Is there any thing available that will allow me to print to a PDF file? I'm trying to export something to a PDF file that does not have the feature as standard. I know it can be done in Windows as there are a few Print to PDF applications. but I can't find a Mac one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedExcel 10.1.4 running on OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). I am suddenly unable to print any Excel documents. Nothing happens when selecting print. Under page setup, when seleting options the settings are blank. When using the up/down arrows, page attributes is checked, but upon releasing the arrows, the settings remain blank. this is true of all old douments and any new ones. The printer is a HP930C. All other applications are blank. I understand that this is probably a Microsoft issue but have been unable to access/find a Mac Excel forum or trouble shooting area. (Yes all these applications and the printer are old).

Recently fitted new router from AOL into home network. Can get online OK but Epson printer no longer responds. Message shows 'printer not online', or 'communication error'.
Have been through 'print and fax' to add printer but no progress.

I'm using MacBook Pro with 10.5.8.something else I could try?
I have set up the printer connected directly to my imac to be shared. I can see it and add it to my macbook and files print across the network from both Word and Firefox. However pdf files open in acrobat will not print from the macbook.
Tried many searches now but so far I have had no solutions.
I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.
I can't print to my network computer after 10.6.3. I can however print using Parallels, but I can't print from say preview or any other OSX based software.
The printer is an HP 4200 Laser jet that I access through an ethernet on my work network. I'm the only Mac in the office and am getting ridiculed for not being able to print from OSX.I tried downloading the HP drivers and re installing them but no luck...
So the printer that I have is a Canon MP620. Everything was working fine until I installed Snow Leopard, now it wont print wirelessly and it tells me that "printer in offline" when its obviously not.
All of a sudden we can't print anything. Have a couple of Macbook Pros, an iMac and two printers hooked up to Expresses through our Airport Extreme network. Printing usually works fine, now, nothing! When we go to print, the macs act as though everything's okay, but the printers don't respond. I tried hooking my macbook pro directly to one of the printers, and still nothing. Mysterious and I can't figure out how to even see what the problem is.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone here has an Epson Artison 800 printer and has upgraded to Snow Leopard. I made the mistake of installing snow leopard last weekend, and have not been able to print since. I searched for new drivers and found a couple, but still have no luck.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Photosmart printer connected, via USB, to a PowerPC Mac. The Mac has Bonjour on it and it acts as a print server to a Mac laptop and a Dell laptop. Until recently, everything was working fine. Now, however, when I try to print from the Dell laptop, I get a pstopdffilter error message. I can still print from the Mac laptop.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI moved up to the HP P1006 since my 1020 was not compatible with 10.6. It has been working great until a hotel sent me a receipt in pdf format. I open the file try to print from the pdf and from the mac, both ways and I get this:
/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstoraster failed
I am not a techie, and have no idea what that means. Anyone have an idea?
I just upgraded from a G4 running tiger to a macpro desktop running leopard.I have a hp designjet 800ps plotter connected via usb hub. Ever since I upgraded I have been unable to print. I installed the driver for this plotter off the leopard install dvd and then installed the latest driver from the HP website but to no avail. The plotter shows up in the printers list and when I send a file to the printer it says it is printing but then nothing happens. I really need to get this issue resolved so
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had difficulty in attaching my HP Photosmart C5580 printer to my new MacBookPro (OSX 10.6) through my Netgear WGPS606 print server. After much searching I found previous posts here which advised me to add the Gutenprint driver 5.2.6 which I did. That finally DID successfully attach the printer through the server.
However, there is a lag of many seconds (sometimes minutes) between the SEND command and the starting of the printer. Is this the new normal that I need to expect or is there a fix?
I open System Prefs and click 'Print & Fax'. I click + to add a printer. The dialog box opens for a few seconds and then closes. Just that window. I cannot add a printer at all or even print anything for that matter. I ran Printer Therapy and it finds nothing wrong. Same with TechTool Pro. Nothing seems to be wrong except this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a iMac using 10.5.8. and a laptop using 10.4. I don't print all the time (once or twice a month for invoicing) so I'm not sure when my printing failed. Had to be sometime after my Airport Extreme or OS updated in the last month. My printer is a Canon Pixma 780. I'm unable to print from either computer now. I've updated printfab, tried uninstalling, reinstalling printer, unplugged printer from my Airport Extreme, restarted computer and printer. I'm at a complete loss.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I got this printer with the buy a mac deal, the only thing is I can't seem the find the model when I try to set up the printer.
There's no Photosmart C4280 under the list of printer models on the list. Can anyone help? Whenever I try to print something offline it'll just keep taking in loads of computer paper but nothing comes out.
When it does print it prints werid stuff like "dup 33 /R put dup 34 /a put dup 35/l put etc etc readonly def /fonttype 42 def /fontmatrix matrix def."
I am not a mac user (please forgive me) but I have a friend who has a Mac and cannot print all of a sudden. From what I understand it is an I-Mac and the OS is OSX.
All of a sudden (after a few years without trouble) she is getting an out of memory message when she sends a job to the printer. Further, no jobs show up in the printer dialogue window when it is sent from the computer. The print jobs are not large, just simple emails. Even when she creates a blank message with the word test in the body it still wont print.
The printer is an HP D4160.
It is not sending any messages re: the status of the cartridges. The computer is communicating with the printer as it will print a test page when commanded to from the computer so this is truly baffling.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Before upgrading from 10.5.8 to 10.6.1, the printer could work. After upgrading, the printer kept pausing when I send print jobs. I am unable to resume the printer and keeps toggling back to pause.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI hooked it up to my network and everything and the wireless printing works great.
Recently I had to take the printer out, so I unplugged it from my modem and plugged it in somewhere else for USB use.
I tried printing something, forgetting that I couldn't print wirelessly anymore.
I am running 10.5.2 on a PPC G5, but since I upgraded to 10.5 I can no longer print to our Xerox Docucolor 12 with Fiery rip, from either Apple Mail or Safari. All I get in print monitor is one of 2 messages:-/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstops failed.OR empty print file!
I have tried re-installing the most up to date xerox driver and repaired permissions, but no luck. If I print from Acrobat/Illustrator or any other application, everything is ok. Just Mail & Safari are causing problems.
