I am having trouble connecting my macbook to my flatscreen tv. I bought the appropriate vga adapter and cable, but once connected, I only see my desktop picture on the tv screen-- none of the folders on my desktop, and doesn't pull up my internet screens either. Do I need to click something to go into "tv mode"? I was hoping to play dvds from my laptop, or even my netflix play on demand movies.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to connect my Mac (OSX 5) to a flat screen TV. To do so I just bought a USB 2.0 to HDMI Display Adapter w/ Audio (1920 x 1080). The mini CD containing the DisplayLink software drivers that came with the unit won't fit in my Mac CD drive. I then tried to download the correct driver from the DisplayLink website, "DisplayLink USB Graphics Macintosh Driver" which appears to be appropriate for OSX 5 (at [URL]).
This proceeds through the installation steps, then bombs out with the error message that "The following install step failed: run preinstall script for DisplayLink software. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."In the hopes of finding a compatible driver, I looked for an earlier version of the driver on the DisplayLink site, but couldn't find one.

How do I connect a newer 2011 27" iMac to a flat panel via a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable? I've already tried this with two different brands of flat panels (RCA and Samsung) and both get no signal. The iMac does recognize the model of flat panel connected to it, the flat panels do not recognize the iMac, nothing but a blue or black screen. Already tried powering down and resetting both the iMac and flatpanels, resetting the memory on the iMac, trying all the HDMI ports on both flatpanels. Nothing works.

Can I connect my Power Mac G4 (model M5183) to a modern flat screen monitor? I already tried it with a small flat screen TV which works fine with my MacBook Pro but couldn't make it work with the G4. I only need the G4 for a SCSI slide scanner that I use occasionally, and would love to get rid of the monstrosity of a monitor that came with the G4. I've updated the processor in the G4 to 1 GHz and run it with OS 10.5.8.

I have searched the trial-ware sites, and many of the types of programs I need say "WINDOWS ONLY", or, "NO MAC VERSION AVAILABLE". I've been trying to use Mocha VNC and Remote on my iPod and neither will connect to my laptop at all. Also I'm trying to use Chicken of the VNC to play with my JB'd iPod and that just beachballs forever and I have to force quit. I've looked through my firewall settings and tried other VNC clients on my laptop but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix or do I have to wait for redevelopment of all of my apps?

I have the DVI connector for the macbook 08, connected to "InFocus" projector, I setup the display monitor, turned on the mirroring and I just get my laptop screen to display.
I have a 30" Dell 3007WFP-HC monitor which I would like to connect to my laptops... I bought a HDMI to DVI cable to connect them.
When using my first laptop: Acer Aspire 6920G with 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, it works just fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have sold a Pismo on eBay. I showed pictures from all angles with the date superimposed including the working screen. The buyer received it the day after it was collected from my house and it seems that the packaging was fine when it got there. The buyer took it out of the box, turned it on and was happy to see that the Pismo fired up as you would expect. He said that it still had 98% power left in the battery. (I'm just adding everything I can think of in case it makes a difference)
The then shut the laptop down by moving the mouse pointer across to the little apple at top left of screen and choosing "Shut down" followed by clicking the "Are you sure" screen. He then closed the lid and took the laptop upstairs where there is access to the internet via a wired router and ethernet cable. There is no wireless access in the house.
So when he got upstairs, he opened the lid and pressed the power button. He then waited .... and waited ..... and waited but the screen stayed blank. The only way to tell that the laptop was turned on was that the Capslock light reacted to the key being pressed.
I have asked him to write me an e-mail listing everything he has tried to make it work. I'm not much use with Macs and all I could tell him was to try inserting the restore DVD, shutting down by holding down the power button for a few seconds and then holding down the "C" key at start-up.
I have a macbook, and I replaced my Super Drive with a DualDrive that I got from powerbook medic. I decided to install Mac OS X on the Dual Drive and it installed correctly, but when ever I close my laptop screen, my hardrive turns off and I have to restart my computer. Is there any way that I can make it so that when I close my laptop screen it does not turn off my hardrive?

I've got a 17" MacBook Pro on OSX 10.5.7 and a 15" TiBook on OSX 10.4.11.
Can I connect the TiBook to the MacBook Pro in such a way that I can use it to extend the screen? IE: main window on MBP and menus etc on Ti? If so how? Is it easy to switch back and forth on the Ti so I can get back to it's own screen easily?
Whenever I move my macbook on my desk with the lid open, or when I open the lid, or when I close the lid, my screen flickers to black and then back open many times. Is this a weak connection some where? Sometimes the screen will stay black until I move the lid a little bit. I bought it refurbished from Apple this spring. I do not have applecare.

I wanted to plug it in to my bubble emac, but what cable am i looking for? and is it cheap? I have sound comming from it when you turn it on, and when u use the volume keys but thats it. I then tried to force quite pages and it wouldn't work so I had to force shut down. It then would not turn fully on and was on the grey screen for a long period of time. It eventually came back to homepage after about 30 minutes but did not fully load. It now wont go past grey screen and has a bar at the bottom.

My screen today suddenly went black but the laptop was still running. I shut it down and unplugged for several hours, no luck. I have done the hard SMC and PRAM resets. Both times the apple screen comes up but now it just stays a solid grey.
