Hey guys, I have a 2010 13" MBP. When I open the screen, it squeaks, not that loud, but it squeaks. What should I do? Also, my trackpad seems it is a little out of place when i am looking from the top of the laptop. What should I do about the trackpad?
View 3 RepliesEvery time I depress my trackpad (the one built into my MBP 15" mid 2009) It is doing a slight squeak...Now I'm meticulous about how well I keep my beloved MBP... but I do use it everyday for many things (Including design, word processing, accounts, pwning the microsoft network at my office)
But I am guessing that these things are built to last... and shouldn't have an effect on how much I have used it right... Should I take it to Apple and let them have a look at it is there a quick thing that I can do to mend it? Or should I just get over it and accept it as quirk of it's character?
My Macbook Pro is fairly new, and the hinge on both side is already making squeaking noise when I open my screen. It gets a bit annoying, I open it from the center top of the screen, not by the side. Is this a problem that I should be taking to the Apple Store? Or this can be fixed easily?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago my Macbook Pro keyboard and trackpad stopped working when the battery was in the laptop. However, when I take the battery out and keep it plugged into an wall outlet, there are no problems. A USB external mouse/keyboard work fine, but its not easy to bring them everywhere I need my laptop. This may not be relevant, but when the mouse and trackpad are not working, the screen still dims when I place my hands over the speakers. I have bought a new battery, hoping that was the problem, but it made no difference. I can't check to see if my software is updated, because my software update is also functioning incorrectly. It takes an average of 5 hours for the software update to search, and it always comes up with "no available updates."
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Macbook pro's trackpad isn't parallel to the body of the laptop. that is, one end of the trackpad (left) is higher than the other (right). This creates the interesting effect of being able to slide ones finger off of the left side of the trackpad and onto the area below the keyboard with almost no resistence. while on the right side you feel a ledge if you try the same motion.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my 2011 13" MacBook Pro for just under a year.I've used about 70 GB / 320 on the HD, and I don't use any memory hogging software or games.Basically, I use my laptop to browse the web and do work-related assignements.About a week ago I was watching a video on YouTube and my MacBook froze up.The 'beach ball of death' started spinning, and there was a chirping / squeaking noise coming from the right side of the keyboard it sounded like the optic disc drive was trying to read something, but there was no disc in the drive and all I was doing was watching YouTube.The computer was completley frozen and, disturbed by the noise, I opted for a manual restart.All was fine after the restart, but tonight the same thing happened again!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my 24" iMac connected to a 22" LG monitor via an Apple mini DVI to VGA. The best resolution the monitor will run at is 1680x1050 which I guess is the native resolution.
My problem is that there is a black line at the bottom of the screen, and I can drag windows of the top of the screen by about the same amount as is missing of the bottom. What can I do to get that bit of screen to show up in the right place?
My MBA gives out squeaking sound around bass beats. Doesn't happen all the time, but when it does happen, it irritates me. When I listen to the same song on the iphone, I get a very clear sound. Can anyone do this for me? Can you listen to "Speak to me/Breathe" by Pink Floyd on your headphones / earphones if you have that track? Along with the first few heartbeats, I hear squeaking noises. Do you hear anything like that?
This squeaking noise could also happen sometimes when I am minimizing / maximizing windows, or doing something processor intensive.
I tried to do an import from my old MB to my new MBP (unibody) and I got so much of bloat and crap from the old one, that I just reinstalled OSX on the MBP - which has literally saved me gigs. Here's a problem though: Before I could use 3 fingers on the trackpad to "jump" up and down (the beginning or end) on a webpage, but now I am unable to do that, only left to right (forward/backward) is working. How do I get that old functionality back? And my second question, after I installed osx you get that "welcome animation" which basically says "welcome" in a lot of languages. How do I get that to play again?

However, for a job I'm doing at the moment, it would be handy to have the use of two screens. MacBook trackpad not responding, and I'm stuck at the log-in screen. Completely useless when it's the week before finals and I have multiple papers due. Someone gave me a wireless mouse, but that still isn't working. I'm going to try and restart it yet again, but does anyone have any suggestions? I've got a 17" MacBook Pro on OSX 10.5.7 and a 15" TiBook on OSX 10.4.11.
Can I connect the TiBook to the MacBook Pro in such a way that I can use it to extend the screen? IE: main window on MBP and menus etc on Ti? If so how? Is it easy to switch back and forth on the Ti so I can get back to it's own screen easily?
Whenever I move my macbook on my desk with the lid open, or when I open the lid, or when I close the lid, my screen flickers to black and then back open many times. Is this a weak connection some where? Sometimes the screen will stay black until I move the lid a little bit. I bought it refurbished from Apple this spring. I do not have applecare.

I wanted to plug it in to my bubble emac, but what cable am i looking for? and is it cheap? I have sound comming from it when you turn it on, and when u use the volume keys but thats it. Oh and when you use the mouse pad it leaves light trails on the screen.

I then tried to force quite pages and it wouldn't work so I had to force shut down. It then would not turn fully on and was on the grey screen for a long period of time. It eventually came back to homepage after about 30 minutes but did not fully load. It now wont go past grey screen and has a bar at the bottom.

My screen today suddenly went black but the laptop was still running. I shut it down and unplugged for several hours, no luck. I have done the hard SMC and PRAM resets. Both times the apple screen comes up but now it just stays a solid grey.

I got a new Macbook Pro Retina (mid-2014) a few weeks ago and the trackpad and screen randomly freeze even when the only thing I have open is Safari. In other words, it doesn't feel like my computer has a 2.6 GHz Processor and 8 GB 1600 Mhz Memory. My downloads folder also constantly has the loading bar under it; it goes away when I remove it from the dock and replace it, but appears again after downloading one thing.
This is really frustrating when I got a new Macbook so that I wouldn't have to deal with these types of problems. They're all issues that I never encountered with my Macbook Air (mid-2011).

I just bought a 24" screen for my macbook so i can really enjoy movies in my room. I was wondering if there was a way for me to close my laptop screen but still watch the movie ( so i dont see double picture) I know i can dim down the macbook's screen to almost dark but the screen is still on and using power. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2008 MacBook and it was working perfectly fine until one day I was using it and the screen instantly faded to black. I first thought my battery power had shut off, so then I closed the laptop but that little light on right front side was still blinking meaning the computer was still on. I then shut down the computer and turned it back on but as it started the screen was its normal brightness for about 3 seconds then it quickly went black again. If I shine a light on the screen I can barely make out what it shows, which is my normal screen when I open up the laptop. Did my screen somehow break from overuse or does have to do with the battery?

I have a PowerMac G4 with mirrored drive doors and just realized that my HDD (I think) is making these wierd scratchy squeaking noises. It might be my fan making them but I am not 100% sure. I am hoping that this doesn't mean the HDD is about to kick the bucket. Should I get a new HDD and ditch the old one? How would I go about swapping hard drives? I know there are issues with getting the new one to boot the comp n such.

I dried it all with a towel and it works perfectly. But, the screen is completely ruined. It is smudgy and sticky, and blurry with milk. I think using a towel is the worst thing I could have done. What can I use to cleanse my screen of this uncomfortable smudge?

After connecting an external screen I can go to the first opening screen but the cursor won’t move. I tried to use the “Command,” “Option” and “Esc” keys on the keyboard at the same time to bring up the “Force Quit Applications” window but it doesn't work. After restarting I'm back at the same screen, still frozen.

I have an external HD (old MacBook HD in enclosure), and I was using it on a PC earlier. The PC came up with a message in the bottom right saying something about a power surge to the HD, and that it couldn't be recognised. Since then, every time I plug the HD into a PC, it grinds and squeaks, and isn't recognised at all, yet when I plug it into my MacBook, everything works fine. What does this mean? Is my enclosure faulty? Or has it now got a Windows allergy?
