Intel Mac :: Connecting A Flat Panel To It With A Thunderbolt To HDMI Cable?

Feb 20, 2012

How do I connect a newer 2011 27" iMac to a flat panel via a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable? I've already tried this with two different brands of flat panels (RCA and Samsung) and both get no signal. The iMac does recognize the model of flat panel connected to it, the flat panels do not recognize the iMac, nothing but a blue or black screen. Already tried powering down and resetting both the iMac and flatpanels, resetting the memory on the iMac, trying all the HDMI ports on both flatpanels. Nothing works.

MacBook :: Kanex Thunderbolt To HDMI Cable Not Displaying On TV?

Jun 24, 2012

I have a kanex thunderbolt to HDMI cable that I use to connect to my TV. I recently updated my Mac OS X to 10.7.4. I am not sure if that is the reason, but I can no longer seem to connect. It is being detected by my TV, but the screen isn't showing up.

When I connect, the laptop screen goes blue and then returns to normal and the TV goes from no input signal to a black screen, but that's it. I have tried restarting, shutting down and resetting the PRAM/NVRAM. I called Apple support and they have set me up with an appointment at an Apple Store later this week.

MacBook Pro :: Connecting It Via Thunderbolt And HDMI Adapter To HDTV?

May 25, 2012

I've got a recent MBP with Thunderbolt. I'm trying to connect it via a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter to an HDTV with HDMI, but the MBP doesn't seem to acknowledge the addition of the new display. What it IS doing is flickering the built-in screen occasionally, the way it does when connecting to a projector or something, but it never shows any additional displays in the displays CP, and never seems to send any signal out to the HDTV.

As soon as I connect the second one SystemUIServer process eats all memory like 70gb and use %100+ CPU which makes my computer unusable. I've tried to kill but it reproduce itself instantly. I can successfully connect 1(doesn't matter vga or hdmi) extra display but issue is connecting both of them at the same time.

OS X :: Connecting To TV With HDMI Cable?

May 14, 2009

I got a DVI-to-HDMI cable from the Apple store, the employee there said it was the best way to connect my Macbook (older model) to an HDTV. As it turns out, HDMI carries both video *and* audio and unless I'm mistaken, my TV doesn't have associated audio jacks for either of its HDMI inputs. Is there a way around this, or is HDMI not a useful way to connect a Mac to a TV?

Hardware :: Connecting MBP To TV Using DVI - HDMI Cable

Dec 21, 2008

When I connect my MBP to my TV(an LG 42LBX) using a DVI-HDMI cable, I can't get a good picture using 1920x1080. It works fine on lower resolutions and the colors are perfect. But when I set it to 1080 it becomes all washed out (See picture at the end... I made it in Photoshop but that's pretty close to what I see on my TV). Also, it is only letting me use 1920x1080 interlaced. Why? Is my cable bad, or is it something with my TV or MBP?

Intel Mac :: Loading Driver For Display Adapter (Connecting To Flat Screen TV)

May 25, 2012

I'm trying to connect my Mac (OSX 5) to a flat screen TV. To do so I just bought a USB 2.0 to HDMI Display Adapter w/ Audio (1920 x 1080). The mini CD containing the DisplayLink software drivers that came with the unit won't fit in my Mac CD drive. I then tried to download the correct driver from the DisplayLink website, "DisplayLink USB Graphics Macintosh Driver" which appears to be appropriate for OSX 5 (at [URL]).

This proceeds through the installation steps, then bombs out with the error message that "The following install step failed: run preinstall script for DisplayLink software. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."In the hopes of finding a compatible driver, I looked for an earlier version of the driver on the DisplayLink site, but couldn't find one.

PowerPC :: Using The IMac G4 Flat Panel LCD Case?

Jul 14, 2009

i've been searching for a way to use an iMac G4's LCD Monitor as an external monitor for any other computer. So far i haven't found a solution for it, so during my search i read that it is possible to remove the LCD display from the iMac G4's case and install another LCD display that you know for sure it will work on any other computer. So, my question is, is this possible? if so, what LCD monitor would fit in the case? i know that there's a problem when trying to pass the wires through the arm, but i think i can handle that since i already tried with some random cables, so if you know of an LCD that could fit in the case.

PowerPC :: Imac G4 Flat Panel Was Unplugged - Now Won't Turn On?

Nov 30, 2008

I am dog/housesitting for my inlaws. Yesterday, before I left my house I shut down my iMac as always and for the heck of it, unplugged the computer, modem, and router stopped home today, and decided to hop on the computer real quick. plugged everything back in and the computer will NOT turn on. No noise, no lights, nothing. It was fine yesterday--I shut it down, unplugged it, and plugged it back in today---now it is completely dead! So I tried other plugs and no dice. Never had any power or shutdown/starup issue before. I called Mac---but outside of driving an hour to the Apple store--it wasn't much help. The guy did say it was most likely the cord. I would be wiling to try that--as it would be a cheap option, but it looks like I may have to drive to the Apple store anyway to get a cord that fits. I also tried resetting the PMU that Apples site recommends--and nothing. Any suggestion would be great. With the holidays the thought of dropping big $$$ on computer repairs is not appealing.
