I have been backing up my two computers (MAC desktop and MAC laptop) in 10.5.8 for the past six months without any problems. I recently had to reboot my Linksys router and subsequently had to reset my Time capsule. I had no problem connecting and backing up my laptop. However, I received the following error when I try to connect my MAC desktop to my backup disk: OSStatus error -6602 I went ahead and erased the entire disk and still receive this error.
I've got two printers - one at work and one at home. They're both HP, if that's any help. When I try to print to either of them - either connected on USB at home, or over the network at work, the document seems to spool ok - (the printer icon appears is doc), but then it never prints.
If you open the Job queue for the printer, the job is listed there with a status of "error". I can't seem to find any more useful info - sorry. Feel free to ask me for stuff if it'll help you help me. The printer is detected as online - it says Printer Ready in the box. I can post screenshots if it'll help.
My setup is TimeCapsule (router/base station) running in 2.4 G mode, 2 widows laptops in G mode, and a older Airport Express 'G' standard. Today, I would say the network between the TimeCapsule is OK. I have a emac connected running tiger and it surfs alright but downloads are just slow (10k/sec downloads). Streaming itunes music works OK, but just forget about video podcasts.
My laptops can all surf OK to, but again the WiFi is not great.Somedays however nothing seems to work, iTunes is very glitchy (rebuffering every 5-20 seconds), And surfing is just painful. Yet upstairs plugged into the router the net is up and everything is good.
Now I work from home a lot, so I know using the microwave interferes with the G network. But these problem just seem to happen and it's either a OK day or everything just sucks. Short of spending the time and effort of going to 'N', how will I know what the cause of these problems are?
My Timecapsule is upstairs in the Hall, the house is open concept maybe max 50' between devices my Signal / Noise is -60/-90 most times. I'm also thinking to going with the powerline modems.
If you have a TimeCapsule that is currently backing up one MBP using TimeMachine, can you attach an external USB drive and then have a second MBP backup to that drive with TimeMachine?
After moving the apartment I have too long distance from the only broadband plug to my study.I have timecapsule, which I would need for my printer and other devices, but cannot wire it to the plug.I know I can buy AirPort Express, but how do I bridge the incoming network from AE to Time Capsule?
Always when I stopped my Imac and restart and logged in again ,I have lost my contact with the Time capsule and the mac is givng an error that there is no contact with the time capsule and it is not possible to make a backup in timemachine. After i have reconfigurate the timecapsule it is working again.
I have a Macbook Pro, Power Mac G4, and my girlfriend's Dell. I want to put my iTunes Library on my TimeCapsule so when I'm at home I have access from all the computers. But i also have a copy of my library on my LaCie Rugged to save space on my MBP, not to mention the copy of the library on my iPod. Is there an easy way to sync my iTunes Library on my iPod, my portable HD, and TimeCapsule?
It works for a while, then just doesnt continue its backups. Just says Preparing backup and nothing else, for hours!Have tried wiping out starting again, but give it a couple of weeks and back to the start.
I wanted to store files on a Time Capsule that is also a Time Machine target. Problem is that Time Machine eats up all the space with time.
Common workarounds are: a second USB drive attached to TC or open TC and re-partition the internal drive. As a dirty hack, I created a disk image on TC's hard-disk and I mount it via an AppleScript. The concept is the same as Loopback devices in Linux or Solaris except for the fact that disk files cannot be shared among multiple users at the same time.
I set up my time capsule using the wizard that apple provided. I have one SSID set up and wpa pw. I can use both Iphones (802.11g) and m macs (802.11n). Since they both work (With old TC, iphone would not see it because I set it to N only) am I running the most efficient way? Network utility shows macs connected at 270 Mbit/s and G devices at 54 Mbit/s. The gizmodo review says that they show show as 2 separate access points? [URL:..]
I'm considering to buy the 1TB model but doing some searches I found that for 200$ you can buy a 1TB Western Digital myBook (ethernet) plus a good Netgear Wireless Router ...
I have a strange issue with my TimeCapsule (firmware version 7.4.2). The TimeCapsule is connected to my router, an AVM FRITZ!Box 7140, via an ethernet cable, and I connect my MacBook Pro wirelessly with the Time Capsule. Every few hours or so (but sometimes once in every 10 minutes), the light on the TimeCapsule blinks yellow for about 10 seconds, and during that time the MacBook Pro looses connection to the internet. My best guess is that the TimeCapsule somehow looses its own internet connection.
Two more details: the TimeCapsule is in Bridge Mode, and I do not see any relevant entries in AirPort Utility's logs...
My TimeCapsule drops the WiFi signal every 10 minutes or so for about 10 seconds; the light is blinking yellow during that time, and then it comes back to everything ok. The TC is in Bridge Mode behind my router. I can connect to the internet via the router all the time - no connection lags there, it's just the TimeCapsule that stops the connection. No entries in it's logs, though. I'm running 10.6.2, and the TimeCapsule is on 7.4.2 (same issue on 7.3.2 and 7.4.1).
As it is, it basically kills iChat and Skype on top of it's impact on web browsing and the like.
I'm trying to empty the trash on my iMac (running Snow Leopard) but I just get an error message: The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 8003).
I've lost all status information on my menu bar. No battery status, airport status, time, spotlight magnifying glass, etc. Restarted a couple of times but no luck. My mac is a '06 macbook pro core duo 2.16 (1,1). Anyone else having problems? Lost screen capture functionality as well, so I can't show you.
This has happened about three or four times now in which I'll wake my MacBook (unibody) from sleep (ie. open it up), and it'll have a frozen clock at some random time, renders spotlight unable to function, freezes battery status (even says it's plugged in at 100% even though it's sitting in my lap unplugged (has been unplugged since las night).
Even a weird wifi indicator next to the CPU menu Meters. I dunno what's going on. Has happened randomly when I leave it off over night. Just a minor inconvenience since it requires a restart. Just wondering if you guys know what's going on and/or how to fix it.
I have a Mac Pro 3.1..Sometimes (most of the times, actually) the Mac Pro doesn't boot and just stops after the chime (just as it was powered off). But what I found strange is that the white status light is always on (not blinking, always on) from the moment I connect the power strip.
I've run multiple times the Apple Service Diagnostic tests (running then again at this moment) and there´s absolutely no error reported. I've changed memory, video card slot position, everything I could think off, but still haven't found a solution.
When I connect my MacBook to my iMac to transfer files over (using target disk mode), a sparsebundle of my macbook files shows up as a mounted disk image, along with the yellow external hard drive icon on my desktop. The yellow icon says I have about 80GB total, but the mounted disk image (white) says I have 120GB total on it. Does that mean I have more space than I originally thought? (I thought it had 80GB on it)
I just bought an iMac 24" base model and love it. I'm quickly learning the OS, but there is still a lot that is foreign to me.
Wireless was easy to setup, however I can't find any type of connection status (as in signal strength). Am I just missing it, or do I need a 3rd party program?
Another quick question while we're here, what OS do I have? It's OS X 10.5.6, would that be Leopard? All these code names are new to me
Another question I see a lot of people talking about using different browsers. Is Safari considered the Internet Explorer of the MAC? Or is Safari a good browser and people just like to try different things?
after updating to 10.5.7, the battery icon doesn't seem to want to update. info is set to show battery icon and percentage.
after unplugging the mag connector, battery status indicates 100% after 1.75 hours. anyone seen this before? did not notice this happen prior to update.
When I select a file in my Finder, I want to be able to see the file size. I've googled and googled but found nothing. don't tell me to hit the spacebar. There must be some little app or script to enable this right ?
In the past, on Itunes 11.0, when I opened the program, there would be a bar on top that would read, "File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, Help" and below , a status bar that would tell me the number of tracks in a playlist and duration, "7 Songs, 28:20 Total Time, 51 MB"..Those controls/status bars are gone in the new 11.4 edition of iTunes.
I'm new to Apple Mac so apologize in advance for using incorrect terminology. Since yesterday when I signed on to OkCupid, I'm getting what I believe is Apple's "hourglass" icon (round various colored circle) which I can't get rid of (and can't do anything) until I shut down and restart computer. It's happened today on other sites as well. It takes over my computer. Is this a virus? Does anyone know, and if so, how can I get rid of it?
I have a hot corner set up on my computer so when I place my mouse in the top left corner, my computer goes to its screensaver. However, when I do this, my ichat status automatically goes to "Away". How can I make it so I stay "Available" so it looks like I'm still online?
