The monitor's audio interface connects to my iMac via the headphone jack on the back of the system.
Being a history enthusiast of that era, I've been waiting for Empire: Total War to come out for quite a while. I'm also a bit of an enthusiast as well and would really like to get a new iMac. I'm just wondering if anyone out there is playing E:TW on an iMac with Boot Camp and how well it's been working. Any particular video card recommended over the others?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have iTunes 10.6.1 (7) an Airport Extream Version 6.0 Airport Utility (600.92) That I use with two airport express stations, an Apple TV 2nd Generation with latest software up date. Also have Ipad 3rd Generation and two I phone 4's. Issue: After installing the latest Airport Utility software update I'm unable to connect to my remote speakers in iTunes. The speakers are visible in the pop up menu but iTunes times out when trying to connect. If I use remote to select Apple TV and then via Apple TV select my Computers Library I'm able to play music on the Apple TV / Home Speakers... but still not the Airport Express Stations.
When using remote on the iPhone or iPad the speakers are visible as well but I'm unable to select them... iTunes times out. I can steam music from that is on my iPhone or iPad to each individual speaker, but multiple speaker control is not available and the music from my library is not available. I believe the problem is in the Airplay feature of iTunes and I believe the problems arise when you install the latest version of Airport Utility. You can play on remote speakers, only one at a time, and only if you have the music on a stand alone device (iPhone or iPad)... in summary, bypass iTunes and you can be successful... marginally successful.
I, like many others, have given up on the possibility of interoperability between my DVI equipped MBP and Apples new LED display.
What displays from other manufactures are as well designed and would complement my MBP aesthetics?
Can I use an 85W adapter on a MB062LL/B unit that was originally designed for a 60W. I would like to update to a newer macbook later and wanted something that would be compatible with the newer one.

I have just aquired a slot loading iMac g3. It is a blueberry model, with a 350 MHz g3, and 512 megs of ram. Not that that matters. Anyway, it seems to have been dropped and has a crack above the crt. The speakers also do not work. I plugged in a pair of speakers in both of the headphone jacks. Nothing. The audio port. Nothing. I checked the volume, and it was at full blast. Not even a peep from the speakers. The sound area in the system preferences did not have an option for internal speakers, it was just greyed out with headphones as the selection. By the way, it is running Tiger. I opened it up, and everything is connected. I took the logic board off, and everything is fine. I put it back together and booted it up and... NOTHING..... What could be going wrong?

View 24 Replies View RelatedWhich speakers are better, the ones that come built-in on the '09 24" iMac or Logitech X230? I'm not sure what the iMac's speaker stats are, but here are the stats for x230's:
# Total RMS power: 32 W RMS
Satellites: 12 W RMS (6 W x 2)
Subwoofer: 20 W RMS
# Total peak power: 64 W
# Frequency response: 40Hz - 20kHz
# Drivers:
Satellites: (2) 2" drivers per satellite
Subwoofer: 5.25" ported driver
# Speaker dimensions (H x W x D, cm):
Satellites: 20.3 X 6.4 X 7.6
Subwoofer: 22.9 x 15.2 x23.5
# Signal-to-noise ratio: >96dB
Reason I ask is that I have the x230's and they're considered as cheap speakers, so I don't know if I should use them with the iMac or not. The one advantage I see them having over the iMac's is that they have a 20w subwoofer, but I don't know if the satellites are better or not.
I bought a new iMac a couple of weeks ago, it's my first alu one but I've had two of the white plastic ones before. The sound from the internal speakers in my old iMacs is pretty acceptable for day to day usage (not playing music of course), but the new one sounds horrible... extremely tinny. So is this just what they're all like these days? If not I guess it's got some issues:-/
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to tell if/how my speakers are damaged? I have 24" aluminum imac (bought December 2007, whichever model that is), and I was using the internal speakers (I don't normally do this). I was playing an avi file (xvid / mp3 encoding) on VLC.app, and i struck the space bar to pause it. Instead of stopping, my comp emitted an extremely loud "beep" sound at around 400 Hz, and ever since the audio has been weird. At first it was sorta/really scratchy and broken and a little diminished in loudness, but now it is very quiet, playing sounds at around 1/4 the normal volume. What the hell happened to it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis may or may not be a stupid proposition, but here it goes: I have a Klipsch Promedia GMX 2.1a speaker system which I like very much. However, I was wondering if I could replace the existing satellite speakers with bookshelf speakers (like Klipsch RB-10 s). I'm hoping this will work because I want to increase the audio output of my system without spending money on an amplifier.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just bought the Acoustic Energy Aego sat/sub speakers for my 24" iMac...and excellent they are too. A huge improvement on the built in speakers. However, I occasionally get an electronic 'pop' or crackle from the satellites. Only happens occasionally. If I plug the speakers in to my iPod (2nd gen) all is perfect, so I assume the iMac is picking up interference from the mains or network and passing it on. I assume my options are to try a better gangway adapter (or UPS) with noise filtering, or perhaps (but this seems a bit overkill) a USB audio output device rather than using the iMac audio out. I cannot begin to describe just how much better the AE Aego's are, but the interference is annoying...

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got my brand-new 24-inch iMac yesterday, unpacked it and hooked it all up last night (2.93 Ghz, Nvidia120 card). First off, absolutely beautiful computer. But... I'm already noticing a loud "pop" from the speakers on occasion. In doing a little research, I've seen where others have had this problem, but mostly with external speakers. Mine is with the built-in speakers.
Seems to happen when I open a movie or sound file --- and only when one hasn't been opened in the last few minutes. I get a fairly loud "pop" upon opening the file, then everything's fine. If I immediately open another movie or audio file, I don't get a repeat of the pop, but if I wait, say, 5 minutes before opening another movie or audio file, I get the pop again. No peripherals hooked up (other than cable modem) and no software installed that didn't come on it.
I just got my iMac yesterday, and its been awesome, but I have one question. The classic "bong" sound at startup, I know that is the result of a successful POST, but mine didn't do one after the 1st startup. I had speakers plugged in to it when I started up the 2nd time, and no sound. I unplugged the speakers, and I got the sound. Is that normal or do I need to contact Apple? I jut want to make sure nothings wrong with my iMac. I checked the POST results in System Profiler and it said Passed.
View 8 Replies View Relatedjust wanted to ask you guys if you've played music on your new macs and moved the sound from left to right? I was just fiddling with mine while playing some music in itunes and discovered the speakers sound quite different with the left well rounded and solid and the right sounding less deep and more hollow. Neither speaker distorts or sounds bad in isolation but they do sound different to each other. Has anyone else noticed this?
View 1 Replies View Related2007 iMac Snow LeopardAny idea why my external speakers would stop working?
This happened after I unplugged speakers from outputand plugged in headphones. After done, when I pluggedspeakers back in it stopped working. Headphones no longer
work either. Internal speakers still do, though.I went into preferences and sounds. The external speakers are no longer showing up. Built in output is the only option available. I unplugged everything and turned everything off. Plugged them back in and turned the mac back on. Nothing.
With my iMac, I have Swan M10 external speakers that I love. I also like to use headphones sometimes.
My currrent solution for switching from speakers to headphones (or vice versa) involves physically turning the computer, disconnecting one input in the headphone jack, and putting in the other one.
I'm still in love with my iMac, now entering the phase where I have to fight with SWMBO* to get access to my main machine. I have plugged a pair of headphones in the iMac but I would like to be able to find a software solution that would let me switch between headphones and the internal speakers of the iMac (which are quite good actually!) Plugging / Unplugging is not really ideal and I swear I thought I could do this on my powerbook...
