Do I have to sign up for an iMac account in order to use iWeb and if I do, is it a one time thing or a monthly thing?I had to sign up for a 60 day trial in order to open my iWeb but I still can't find any other information - including pricing.Can I upload websites designed in iWeb with an ftp uploader instead of using iMac?
View 1 RepliesNot sure what the deal is, but whenever I attempt to use the built in facebook uploader to upload some photos to facebook, I get error messages. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a built in facebook uploader if i have to export to desktop and use Facebook's tools.

The one I used before, you just dragged the folder onto the icon on the dock and it took it from there.

I know how to FTP and all, but I cant even find the files on my computer. I want to throw them into dreamweaver and add some things.
1. I've had some trouble publishing with iWeb. The issue on Firefox seems to have gone away after my internet hosting company apparently "fixed" some DNS zones issues but the problem still exists when I view the pages in Safari. The website is [URL]. Notice how (in Safari) the "John O"Leary" at the top of the page seems to bounce but only if the page is not already in the browser's cache.
2. I've published a number of sites to folders. Is there any way to re-open these sites in iWeb to edit them or is the only way to do this to save the "Domain.sites" file under: User / Library / Application Support / iWeb?
Apple say they are stopping paid web hosting and backup with MobileMe. How do you publish your galleries and websites elsewhere or are Apple coming out with a new publishing and video solution?

I created my website using iWeb, and use iWeb SEO Tool (3rd party software) to upload onto the internet so that my website can be found on the net. Â But since upgrading to Lion OSX I can't open my iWeb file in iWeb SEOÂ - my Library file has been moved and my iWeb file has disappeared!! I have since found the iWeb file through Finder (by using Go to ~/Library/) but still cannot find it using iWeb SEO so can't upload changes to my website.Â

Is there anyway I can upload my created single page to my google apps domain name and bypass the crappy google apps page creator. I am sure that there is some way to do it under the godaddy.com domain registration panel, but I don't know how.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTwo months ago I switched web hosting providers/services from a Linux server to a UNIX server. For the most part the functionality is fine but the ability to upload files using any FTP client is near impossible. We've tried Fetch (4.x and 5.x) Filezilla, Cyberduck, Dreamweaver, and an old copy of GoLive but it takes 6 minutes or more to upload a 230byte file!. The upload is relatively fast but it hangs up on the exiting handshake, or drops the connection and has to reconnect.
We spoke with Fetch and tested both copies on their UNIX server---no problem. We've tried our other clients on other UNIX, Windows, and Linux servers---no problem. We've had the web host and our service provider look at DNS blocks, etc. and all seems to be fine. Pings and trace routes seem fine. The web host company indicated that they believed that it was an issue with their server but eventually threw up their hands and said that they couldn't figure it out (not Mac friendly I suspect). My questions is two fold:
1) Can anyone give me an idea what IS the problem?
2) Can anyone recommend a good 'Mac-friendly' web hosting service that doesn't have issues with Mac's, will allow installation of a variety of CMS, eCommerce solutions, and of course seamless FTP access with variety of clients.
I have been having problems with facebook for a week now. I cant upload photos to facebook. I finally was able to get the uploader screen to generate but now I cant select anything to attempt to upload. When I use the simple uploader I get the error: Firefox can't find the server at [URL]. I have snow leopard osx and I am using the newest firefox.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running multiple services with the latest version of OS X 10.6 Server on my MacMini (web, mail, ichat, address book, etc.) . When I try to open my websites I get an "unable to find sever message". Everything has been working fine for the last 2 years and no changes have been made to the server settings, ISP, or DNS. All other services are working as they should. The server is hooked up to an Airport Extreme via a cable modem with a static IP. I have tried the following thus far:
1) restarted the server, airport extreme, and cable modem
2) checked the DNS via the web and my site addresses are pointing to my static IP address
3) turned Web services off and on again in Server Admin
4) checked the Airport port mapping to make sure Web Service (Port 80) was still open

I recently took a position where the previous person didn't leave much in the way of processes or instruction. There are several existing domains, purchased from GoDaddy, hosted locally on our server. I am working on adding a new site and purchased the domain below. I have changed all the zone settings in GoDaddy's DNS manager and have duplicated an existing *.conf fie in the Apache2 folder making the changes within the file to the directory and the domain name. I have also added the directory and set it to be a sharepoint as well as adjusted the permissions.Â

Now that I can no longer publish my iWeb sites via Mobile Me, I have tried to use the ftp server that I pay for through a site hosting service for my business (sitemason). Unfortunately, there is some "redirect" that I cannot find and it creates an index that makes the iWeb pages become my "Home" page. I don't need to override my existing website, I only want the iWeb pages to open when the links to them are accessed. Is this a simple issue or should i just pay some service to publish my iWeb content and keep it nested within my old site?

I am not familiar with hosting locally as I have always used GoDaddy.  There are several sites set up, so I have some "template" to go off of, but I need the basics. If i purchase the domain somewhere and the multiple sites are hosted on a single IP, how can I direct to a specific folder? Do I just create a folder within the volume all others are then make it a shared folder? Set the protocol options to match one that is alread there?Is there a beginers guide to this, and all the settings and options available somewhere?Â

Iwe know that Apple is building a huge server farm that almost certainely is pertaining to MobileMe or its sucessor. We also know that that iWeb is rather tied to the web and MobileMe (off course I know that you can use iWeb without MobileMe). And the MacApp Store is coming in less t han 90 days I think that the iLife suite is being deprecated and the four apps are going to be sold individually in the MacApp Store. Thereby they can have individual releases.
