Oct 26, 2010i received my new 27" ACD. This display is amazing! I use it on my Mac Pro 2008. No dead pixels, audio is working and iSight worked too. But after installing the "Software-Update for LED Cinema Display 1.0" my iSight is not working anymore!
Only black video window in iChat and FaceTime. And the green LED next to the iSight is off.
Seems that the iSight is not starting.

Jan 28, 2010I have an out-of-warranty 2005 iMac G5 running OS X 10.5 in my bedroom. The screen is very unreliable to the point where it stayed off all the time or gave weird colors and I had to purchase an external monitor (via mini-VGA). I have installed (successfully) spanning tools to allow both extended desktop (2 dual monitors) and mirrored display (2 monitors showing same thing).
However, after hooking up the external display, the iMac's bright display lights up my bedroom. I want to turn OFF my built-in display (i.e. no backlight) and have my external monitor act as my main display --- avoids having two displays eating electricity. Is this possible? (using any Terminal commands?) I don't want the computer to sleep, just to turn off the main display (even manually removing wires will work, if I can find a how-to guide on this!)

May 31, 2010I've been looking around all afternoon and can't seem to find out how to get the built-in iSight on the new 15 inch April 2010 MacBook Pros to take pictures and record at 1280 by 1024.
I've seen numerous places link me to Mac Daddy World, but that test app is only yielding 640 by 480.
Many places have also recommended to use Quartz Composer, but my knowledge of the program is limited, and I was still only able to get a 640 by 480 stream.

Mar 14, 2012After years of using Sony hdr500 video cam, iMovie stopped recognizing it and then stopped recognizing the built in iSight cam as well. Now photo booth does not see it either. I have restarted the computer to reset SMC and that did not resolve the problem.

Apr 29, 2009Whenever we upgrade the Mini to an iMac, I have this vision of getting a vertical mount to hang our 20" Cinema Display under the counter in the "bill paying/desk area" of our kitchen. The issue I have is that I'm looking for something that will hang over the back of the display that you can hold the Mini in that does not take up the screws needed for the mount.
I'm thining of bending some Lexan to fit it in (see picture) unless anyone knows of something similar already out there to purchase.
Then I can just get a wireless keyboard/mouse and it will be a clutter-free area.

Mar 17, 2012My mini had a disk error and recommended to format and reinstall lion. Upon completion of OS install I no longer had audio and when icheck the built-in selection in setup it's not there and all control are locked. Looks like the driver is missing.

Jun 25, 2014My Macbook Pro has been having some problems with the built in webcam recently. It shuts itself off if I tilt the screen while using it (then the laptop tells me that there is no detected camera), and now, for the nth time, is not being recognized by my Macbook at all. I've done the special restart a few times in a row now (the one where you hold down the left Shift-Control-Option and the power button), and it still doesn't work. I went under System Information and the camera wasn't even detected there. What should I do?

Yesterday I used head phones all day. I do not usually use headphones.
I closed the lap top over night and this morning the built in speakers are not working. But the headphone work.
I have rebooted several times. The red light in the head phone jack is not lit.
When the head phones are not plugged in the System Preferences Sound panel only shows Digital Out and says it has no output controls.
OS X :: ISight Not Working With Flash Player?
Nov 13, 2010I have had my macbook pro 10.6.5 for over 2 years and have never had this problem. But this morning I tried to use my webcam with flash player online and it wouldn't work. I have spent about 2 hours reinstalling browsers, flash player and repairing permissions in disk utility but still no video.
The iSight does work in Photobooth and iMovie but for some reason when I select it in the Adobe Flash Player Settings nothing happens. The green light doesn't even go on.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try next?
I am studying abroad in France this semester so do not have my OS installation disks with me. I do have a time machine backup though

Oct 7, 2008I've had a Santa Rosa MBP for more than a year now and recently, after working intermittently, the iSight stopped working. It doesn't show up in the System Profiler nor in Boot Camp. After extensive research, I've done the following:
- Reset the SMC
- Zap the PRAM and NVRAM
- Reboot in Safe Mode
- Remove the battery and unplug for 2 min
- Checked iSight physical connection on bezel
I've tried everything I could. Now I'm wondering if it's the logic board that is causing this problematic iSight. And if so, will the logic board continue to fail until it's obsolete? What other symptoms are there of a failing logic board (other than display issues)?
