When i open photobooth, all i get is the camera logo with a line going thru it... When i open ichat, it says no camera is attached... There is no green light, in system profiler under USB TREE, the isight is not even recognized....
My mother's iMac G5 began this just two days ago. It turns on fine, but once is reaches the apple logo with the spinning wheel, the screen begins to exhibit what is shown in the pictures below. It first started when I opened an .AVI I received in an email from my uncle. When the file opened, the whole screen(within about 2 seconds) had discoloration and macro blocking spread from the center of the screen outward. After this I rebooted, tried again, and when I opened the file, it did the same thing. Now I can not even reach the log in screen. And after the screen has been in this state for a while, it may go blank and the fans run at full blast. I've opened the same file on a PowerMac G5 and a MacBook Pro with no problems.
I have a 20" G5 iSight iMac running OS X 10.4.11. The optical drive will not recognise any discs other than original audio CDs - it takes a long time to do this, and is very noisy whilst spinning. Any other DVDs or CDs (including ones burnt on the same machine) are just ejected after about 30 seconds of whirring and do not appear to be recognised anywhere by the computer.
The camera had been working fine with FaceTime, Photo Booth and Skype under 10.9.4 and then something happened. I run FaceTime and the camera screen comes up, but it's black with no sidebar. I had this happen once before when the serial number hadn't been put back after they replaced the motherboard. It's back in now and was working fine. I did have to install Google hangouts plug in, but FaceTime was working fine after that and I've since uninstalled it after FaceTime stopped working and it still doesn't work.
I did have AirParrot and SoundFlower installed which the camera worked with, but uninstalled them as I saw something about a possible problem. I've reset SMU and PRAM, nothing. he mac sees the camera as being there so it shouldn't be a camera problem, but the apps while seeing the camera aren't getting any input [and no it's not blocked. ]
Info: iMac (24-inch Mid 2007), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), 2.4GHz Core Duo/4Gb Ram/320 HD
i have OS X 10.7.4 installed.. and isight will not work with any application i try (skype, facetime, photobooth. i have tried all the different ways of people doing it online, but none of which have worked.
I have had my macbook pro 10.6.5 for over 2 years and have never had this problem. But this morning I tried to use my webcam with flash player online and it wouldn't work. I have spent about 2 hours reinstalling browsers, flash player and repairing permissions in disk utility but still no video.
The iSight does work in Photobooth and iMovie but for some reason when I select it in the Adobe Flash Player Settings nothing happens. The green light doesn't even go on.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try next?
I am studying abroad in France this semester so do not have my OS installation disks with me. I do have a time machine backup though
I've had a Santa Rosa MBP for more than a year now and recently, after working intermittently, the iSight stopped working. It doesn't show up in the System Profiler nor in Boot Camp. After extensive research, I've done the following:
- Reset the SMC - Zap the PRAM and NVRAM - Reboot in Safe Mode - Remove the battery and unplug for 2 min - Checked iSight physical connection on bezel
I've tried everything I could. Now I'm wondering if it's the logic board that is causing this problematic iSight. And if so, will the logic board continue to fail until it's obsolete? What other symptoms are there of a failing logic board (other than display issues)?
So I recently bought a refurbished macbook pro off apple and for some reason the isight camera is not working efficiently. Whenever I'm video chatting with my friends on ichat, the video window just automatically shuts off. Whenever I use photo booth the camera keeps shutting on and off giving me a message camera is not connected. I went to the apple store and they replaced my camera but still this issue keeps happening. I did an archival install of osx and nothing helped. I whipped the hard drive and did an install of osx and that still didnt help. What should I do!!
I received a old macbook air. I installed OS once again. The inbuild isight camera is not show in the hardware list. I have updated OS to 10.5.6 X. that didnot help. How to activate the inbuild isight camera for webchats?
I have been with this problem since 4 months ago. I think after I updated Flash Player it stopped working. I have tried to restart the SMC but it didn't work. I have been taking care of my Mac Pro very well since I bought it last november 2010.
this morning my iSight was working...and now, a few hours later it is not. is there anywhere i can go to look at this? i tried looking in the system profiler and didn't find anything.
Having weird problems with my MacBook Pro 13 (MacBookPro5,5). I bought this needing repair and replaced the LCD, the LCD Glass, the Camera/mic cable, and bought a used battery because the old one showed "Service Now". Just when I thought putting all this work in would get me going, I ran into two different problems that are driving me crazy. The battery will not charge with any magsafe attached (I have quite a few). The only way I can get it to finally charge is to remove the bottom cover, unplug the battery, and use a new, l-shape 85W Power supply to get it to charge again, It charges ONLY until I remove it. Once I remove the power suppy...even for a second, I will not light up again and it will go on battery power until it disappates (then I start all over ). I've tried every reset in the book, so it has nothing to do with the PMR or SMC (or however they are named). Also, before anyone asks...the old "Service Now" battery behaves exactly the same way .The isight camera STILL does not work, even with the new cable. Furthermore, I had another cover for the same unit with a camera in it and its own cable and tried to use the camera with that setup, and it still did not work. My guess is there is either an issue with logic board or the cable connector on the logic board.
The Apple Hardware test passes perfectly every time I run it (quick and extended). Disk is fine...checked it with drive genius and disk drill. I am open to suggestions if anyone has them. I'm guessing this is out of warantee, nor was I the original owner. Anyone have any ideas? Open to anything at this point.
So I just got a MacBook Pro a couple months ago, and I am having issues using webcam chat in Yahoo Messenger for Mac. The built in iSight cam doesn't seem to turn on (no green light) when I try to use it, and the person on the other end just sees a black screen for my webcam.
i received my new 27" ACD. This display is amazing! I use it on my Mac Pro 2008. No dead pixels, audio is working and iSight worked too. But after installing the "Software-Update for LED Cinema Display 1.0" my iSight is not working anymore!
Only black video window in iChat and FaceTime. And the green LED next to the iSight is off.
Using a Feb 2011 Macbook Pro with OSX Lion 10.7.4 It seems that every time i use my built-in iSight camera, then the next time i go to use it, it can not be found. This requires that I reset the PMU, which is kind of annoying. Then it works for a few weeks and the cycle of iSight begins again. Why does this happen? It seems pretty trivial to consistently recognize a camera which is wired into my computer. Is there something I could do to prevent this from happening again? I have tried turning it on and off again. And currently, this article is linking to the reset instructions for Intel iMac instead of the Macbook Pro page...
I recently bought a base MBP-RD and can say that I am overall impressed with it, though I have found a couple issues already. One of them is related to the iSight camera which for some reason doesn't work. The camera appears in system profiler, but it shows as "camera not detected" when trying to launch application like iChat, Skype, FaceTime, etc. I already tried re-installing OSX Lion, and still not working.
I have also found some weird issue with graphics where it freezes a series of frames when going to Mission Control or App Expose.
I am returning this computer as there are other things I didn't like, but overall pretty impressive (no LED battery indicator, no Lock slot, no sleep light indicator...)
Recently my iMac had been experiencing problems, I took apart and checked everything and put back together. Problems were gone but the screen suddenly started gradienting from brighter on the top to darker on the bottom. Brightness overall is also lower now.
My question is what can be creating this? The black tape that was around was ripped, I've heard it's creating static isolation, can that be it? Also I possibly pulled power cord too hard, can it be possible that display is not getting enough power?
I keep getting the message "No cameras connected" when i go to Photobooth. It worked just fine a couple weeks ago. I havent done anything except surf online since I had it on last.
i have a imac with i sight emc 2124 just went pop turned off and wont power up again ive removed case and look at logic board and all caps look ok no leaking or funny shapes.
Have a 17" G5 iMac iSight (OS 10.5.8) that works normally for several hours and then the CPU temperature suddenly spikes and the computer shuts itself down. When I check the Temperature Monitor (application) history graph, it shows normal temperatures and then a spike. There are 3 fans and I don't know which is failing or whether there's something in the temperature sensing that's gone haywire. My only solution is to do a forced restart. By this time, things have cooled and it will work for several hours.
As of yesterday, I'm having problems with Facebook and Chatroulette not recognizing the built-in iSight on my iMac. The camera is recognized on Skype, Quicktime, Photobooth, iChat, etc.
Has anyone had the same problems and what did you do to fix it?
Have been searching all over for My 20" iSight G5 iMac won't start.
Already tried:Removing power cord Using other power cord Inserting power cord while holding down power button Holding power button for 6 secs+ Plugging cord to wall outlet Begging and praying to the mighty white apple.
I purchased the last generation iMac G5 when it came out a few years ago and I recently tried to sell it. I sent the item to the buyer and he said it would not start. The Apple logo or for that matter anything would not come up. He brought it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and they said it was an issue that would most likely cost over $500 in repairs. I just got the computer back in the mail and all that happens when the power button is pressed is the white light on the front lower right hand corner comes on for a second, then the machine shuts down. You can also hear the machine begin to start for about two seconds, then it shuts down. Any ideas as to the problem and whether it is fixable without expensive repair costs?
I read a few posts about dead pixels on the iSight, so I thought I'd post this picture to see what other people think. This is a screenshot straight from Photobooth, showing the image from my iSight when the black cleaning cloth is held up to it. No, those marks are not dirt (on the outside anyway). Other that this, my iMac is fine with the exception of a single dead pixel (I thought this was a thing of the past, but oh well) and I'm not 100% about whether or not I have the yellow screen issue, so I'll ignore it for now.
