I have FCP X 10.1.1..I have a 1.5 minute project in 1080p. In my project, if I drag the Gray Solid generator onto the timeline and then try to distort it, this freezes up FCP X every single time.
View 4 RepliesI have a 3.06 GHz, 4 GB, iMac running 10.6.1. and I have a weird problem: while I was running Windows 7 under Boot Camp, during a simple task, my screen suddenly turned a solid shade of gray. Having no other option, I held the power button, turned off the computer, and turned it back on.
When I booted back to OS X, it happened again immediately upon opening iTunes. This time the color was solid black. Concerned, I turned off the computer, waited a moment and booted it back up in Safe Mode, where I currently have no problems whatsoever. From Safe Mode I repaired my disk permissions, cleared my caches, and zapped the PRAM while restarting my computer back into normal mode. Unfortunately the problem persists, this time my screen turning a solid shade of dark purple.
I'm going to call Apple Care in the morning, but has anyone heard of an issue like this? I searched the forums for a solution, but wasn't sure what terms to search for.
My White iMac 24" won't boot up anymore.I noticed he was running slow lately and in the browser he crashed regularly so I need to reboot.Using the power button I have to shut him down and reboot again, only, the last time, he refused to boot up.Instead I got a solid black screen, and a solid white power light at the front... When booting the only thing I hear is a little buzz and then, nothing... Several support forums said this wasn't very good and it might be the last breath of my iMac. Trying a few things, hoping they would bring him back to life couldn't help:
- Power on with "c" kept down
- power on with control+option+p+r was something I read
- Power on with "shift" kept down
nothing would work.

I'm animating a PNG file in a FC7 project. The image goes from one side of the screen to the other, and I would like to use the ease controls to smooth the movement, but the program does not allow me to do it in the control + J window. I can do it with a video clip, but not with this single frame animation. Is there a way a can do that?

3 days ago I opened FCE to work on some video, and every single captured clip in any project I open simply appears as a gray screen with no audio or image. All clip info like names, in/out markers, etc is still there. I have not had any problems in the past couple years with the program, and have not made any changes to it or my computer recently.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince a few days ago my Macbook Pro 13" from last June started to freeze randomly for atleast 30 seconds and then it would come back and most of the time freeze again after a while (in OSX only it seems, Windows 7 I did not have such problems, though I didn't use it often). Sometimes it occured frequently, other times it didn't and this morning I had the same thing again, I just held the power button and shut it down, did this two times in a short period of time and when trying to boot it for the second time all I get is a gray screen with no Apple logo or anything.
Searched the forums, tried the install DVD and C button to no avail, same thing with trying to reset the PRAM and NVRAM...Is the logic board broken or anything? I don't understand how this could happen...And if I do take my laptop to Apple, should I remove the Intel SSD drive I got in it right now and put in the stock?
My Powebook G4 12" (model A1010) during its start-up phase remains stuck on the "initial gray screen" without displaying the apple logo. However, I can access the system through the console provided by Open Firmware.
I would like to ask you what could be the problem and where such problem may reside (hard drives, memory, main board, etc).
Any sugestiones for a logo maker that's free maybe ? Looking for something were I could do some diffrent styles and maybe put a arch on the wording also. I'm trying to design a new logo for my sportbike club and need something manipulate the letters.

Recently my event clips and timeline clips have turned grey and no video imagery shows unless I pass the cursor over the individual clip. I was close to finishing this project and it plays in the viewer but making adjustments etc seems impossible. FCP is updated and I have restart the computer several times. I have used FCP for 3 years and have never had this problem.

Because of the many problems I heard about using FCS3 with Snow Leopard when they both first came out, I've held off upgrading my OS from 10.5.8. Now that some time has passed, is it safe to install Snow Leopard without worrying about freezes and crashes with using Final Cut Studio 3? Also, have most of the 3d party software developers updated their apps for 10.6? I'd like to install Snow Leopard for my other apps but not at the expense of FCS.

This has recently become more of an issue on my early 2008 mbp w/ 512 video memory. When I am scrolling on web sites or in iChat or really any program for that matter, my screen sometimes becomes distorted.
I have an iMac 7.1 with Superdrive. Whenever I try burning an audio CD (regardless of software), I get distortion on playback. Generally the first 20-25 minutes of the disc. However, when I do DVD burns on the same drive, both audio and video are fine.

I've had my Dual 2.7 G5 since early 2005. It has been a great computer for me over the years. Noisy as hell, but great. A month ago my screen started to distort every now and then (see pics below). The computer would freeze when the screen distorted. Then when I would reboot, the distortion and artifacting would occur even at the grey boot up screen and lock up. With enough reboots it would finally get back to the desktop and be fine for a few days. This no longer works anymore. I haven't successfully booted the computer in over 2 weeks. After the distorted grey boot screen it will go black and all you see is the artifacts, never getting to the desktop. Is this a dead video card? I'm running the stock AGP Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT. If this is a dead video card, do you have any suggestions for the best AGP replacement. I'm looking for something powerful. All I'm finding are very pricey 256mb cards. I'm willing to pay for a powerful card.

How can I delete this single backup to get the space back and still keep the previous and following backups? I tried deleting the single backup for whole hard drive in the Time Machine UI, but I didn't get any the space back, the next newest backup is now 190 GB using Time Tracker as seen below. Just tried deleting all the backups of the renamed hard drive from 3 Oct and now the first backup of today is 191 GB.

I am trying to restore A single file from time machine to a new drive, I know how to restore the file so it gose to my mac but I can't make it restore to my new hard disk " Why would you need to do that I hear you Ask "GOOD QUESTION" well it would take about 7 hour to copy the file to my mac and the another 7 hour to copy the file to the hard drive (which is where I need it to be).what I want to do is save 7 of the 14 Hours it will take by directly restoring the files (of which I have a few) to the new hard drive?I am working with OSX10.5.8?

I am trying to fix a Macbook Pro that has had its /private folder trashed and emptied. Obviously it won't boot unless you you boot in to Single User mode and I'm wondering if its possible to do a Time Machine restore from the terminal, I would need the 2nd more recent Time Machine image which is sitting on a Firewire HDD.
I was going to just see if I could find the orignal OSX install disk and just do a fresh install of the OS which I don't mind doing (since everything important is backed up in Dropbox), but I can't seem to find the CD anywhere nearby, so the Time Machine option would be much preferred.

My Mac Book Pro has began with a problem. The screen goes partially gray with strips if it has been on without being use for some time. Even if it was in sleep. To fix it I have to either re-star or put it in sleep for few seconds. Please tell me what to do? Is it the beginning of the end? Is it probably the battery old? To much GB used?

Unfortunately I bumped the switch on the power strip that my Mac Mini (1.42ghz G4, OS X 10.3) is plugged into while it was running. Now it won't boot up. All I get is the gray screen with the gray apple logo and the spinning wheel but no OSX.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm all out of possibilities, as far as I can think.I wound up with a Macbook Pro 2ghz Core Duo, and while I knowit's old as hell, I'd like to get it in proper working order, as I feel it still has a lot of life in it if I can get it to stop freezing.It freezes without rhyme or reason, there's no specific application, action, etc that the issue is confined to. It's anything at any time.
I've tried replacing the hard drive, there's an issue with the dvd drive so I just cloned the startup drive, I've repaired permissions, used 3rd party programs to wipe caches, verify and repair the hdd, even wipe and restore system and application settings. I just put new ram in it as well. I'm considering purchasing a new superdrive or external optical drive just to be able to run the hardware test or try a fresh install, but I hoped to obtain some insight prior to spending more money than I already have put into it. I've really put a lot of time into this, and as much as I'd like to take the ultimate solution and just buy a new mbp, that's not an option at the moment.
