I have an iMac 7.1 with Superdrive. Whenever I try burning an audio CD (regardless of software), I get distortion on playback. Generally the first 20-25 minutes of the disc. However, when I do DVD burns on the same drive, both audio and video are fine.

I just got a brand new iMac '09 with. I love it already but the only problem I seem to be having is iDVD. I got a movie that is about 700 MB, and would like to burn it onto DVD. First iDVD was saying its too large for the 4.2 GB DVD, so I selected high quality instead of previously selected Best Performance. That fit the movie onto the DVD. Once the encoding was done, I burned it. However now, when I play in on my DVD player, there is no video (green screen) and sound is all scrambled. Same thing when I play in on the iMac. I then noticed that already on the preview menu (under media) the movie is played with no video and damaged audio. Also, when it was finished burning on the dvd, iDVD kept asking for blank recordable DVDs to be inserted, which after two ruined dvds I cancelled.

This has recently become more of an issue on my early 2008 mbp w/ 512 video memory. When I am scrolling on web sites or in iChat or really any program for that matter, my screen sometimes becomes distorted.
I thought you should be able to.Play iTunes audio out through USB to a receiver equipt with USB mode as I can with my iPad Air, but I can,t find in preferences on my 2013 iMac any out put and I get no signal to the receiver/amp. Is it possible? What am I doing wrong?

My super disk can no longer burn to DVD on my G5. I have no problem burning to a CD but I can no longer read or write to DVD. I think it should be a simple setting as the super disk can read and write to CD.

I use Final Cut Pro X Version 10.1.2 under Mac OS X 10.9.4 to create a slide show video. How can I add still frames (pausing) before and after Ken Burns effect? I tried sandwich a clip with Ken Burns effect by other Ken Burns effect clips with identical starting and ending frames. However, clips are non-continuous when playing the video.

I've had my Dual 2.7 G5 since early 2005. It has been a great computer for me over the years. Noisy as hell, but great. A month ago my screen started to distort every now and then (see pics below). The computer would freeze when the screen distorted. Then when I would reboot, the distortion and artifacting would occur even at the grey boot up screen and lock up. With enough reboots it would finally get back to the desktop and be fine for a few days. This no longer works anymore. I haven't successfully booted the computer in over 2 weeks. After the distorted grey boot screen it will go black and all you see is the artifacts, never getting to the desktop. Is this a dead video card? I'm running the stock AGP Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT. If this is a dead video card, do you have any suggestions for the best AGP replacement. I'm looking for something powerful. All I'm finding are very pricey 256mb cards. I'm willing to pay for a powerful card.

When I was running Panther I could pop in a DVD and the DVD Player started up. Now with Tiger, I put in a DVD It mounts on the desktop (like any other cd.) I can still burn and read cds, but can't play dvds.

- My client requested a series of still shots to be made from a 40 minute video. So, I imported the DVD video into Quicktime using a third-party app (DVD-VX,) and then I was easily able to create still shots, (it was someone's 65th birthday party.) So far, so good...
Then, the client wanted the shots (about 125 of them) set to music, and provided a series of CDs. OK, no problem. I put the pictures in order, and synchronized it nicely with music, using iMovie, so that I could easily trim the music, fade the volumes in and out, and add titles and transitions between the different sections. So far, so good.....................

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 2.4 GHz Intel Macbook Pro and I've started to notice small circular black marks near the edge of the upper left corners of my computer. They're about a centimeter in diameter and black. I swear they appeared overnight. My computer spends a lot of its time in my backpack in a padded macbook sleeve. I've dropped my backpack a few times, but I don't see how that would result in these little 'cigarette burns.' I've attached photos. Should I be worried? Any idea what repair will cost? What do you all think?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have quite an old toshiba 32WLT66 hdtv with my mac mini connected to it through HDMI. I did have it connected with vga and a separate audio cable, which worked out, but I wasn't happy with the picture.
The picture is now great with HDMI and as I'm using it mainly for movies through plex I am putting up with the overscan when using it for occasional web browsing.
My question is what is the best solution for getting audio when using hdmi? I have seen some posts where people have suggested looking at the tv settings to force the tv to accept audio through another source when using hdmi. This doesn't seem to work, or it only (might) work on my first hdmi port (when I connect the mac mini to the 1st hdmi port, the picture is very distorted and doesn't appear correctly - so this option is ruled out).
The other solution I'm aware of is connecting to an external amp and speakers - can't so this as I don't have them.
The second option being a set of USB speakers, I believe this might be my only option, but I would rather have the audio coming through the tv as I don't want the clutter of another set of speakers.
I would like to capture the audio signal from my flat screen TV via either the digital (optical) or the standard audio out connections and input to my iMac for further recording to a thumb drive.

I have no audio, either on the internet or YouTube. I checked System Preferences>Sound and note that both sliders in this drop down box cannot be moved. Also the "mute" box at the bottom right is checked. I cannot "unmute" this check mark. Before i did all the above I pressed the F12 button to increase volume but nothing (no sound) comes off.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLong story short, My iMac stuffed up not long ago so I sent it to Apple to get it fixed (Apple Store Chadstone), I called them a week later, and I�ve been told that they were still working on it. A few days later I called again, they finally found the issue (sort of) and decided to replace the logic board�..anyway, I said OK, they later called me back saying they have replaced it but a new problem occurred, the audio/speaker is not functioning etc� I said well I will just take it back and fix it myself because I need it for �work�, I took it back and this is what I found so far: iMac�s serial number is gone! Oh also, on the repair report paper, it says I purchased this iMac on March 11 2009(March 11 is my birthday BTW), but I actually bought it in Nov 2008, so according to Apple Store, my iMac is now officially out of warranty.

I was wondering if there is a way to play audio sources from my MBP to an iMac while using the speaker on both computers. Does it revolve around the "Audio MIDI Setup"? In my workplace I can play my music when the customers are not around or if it is after hours. I have my iMac at one side of the store but i'm unable to hear it when I walk into the back. Right now I was trying to switch from a mini-plug-to-RCA to optical (TOSlink), but I see no way to fit the optical cable into the mini-plug (headphone) audio out on the iMac. Do I need some kind of adapter? Do I need to remove something in the audio out jack?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy iMac switches from internal audio output to external when I log in after computer wakes up from sleep mode. It also does it when I "shut down" under apple menu and physically turn on via the power button on back. My quick fix is to go under audio settings and manually switch audio output back to internal speakers. I don't understand why it's switching on it's own. Could another program be switching the audio output, maybe iTunes?

The audio on a video I created is out of sync on YouTube when viewed on a mid-2011 iMac. It works fine when viewed directly as a movie on the desktop. The unusual thing is that the audio is fine when viewed on YouTube on an early 2008 MacBookPro. This would indicate the problem lies with the iMac, the video card etc?

Although audio is present in the administrator's account, there is no audio in the guest account. There was guest account audio before today, but something has happened to remove audio.

The audio jack in the back of my iMac is not working. This has happened off and on before but it seems to have totally failed now. There is supposed to be a red light visible inside the jack. I believe the digital output is sharing this jack, there is no red light working now also. I am using a USB to M-Audio box to send my sound to my speakers right nw.
