Was updating some iOS apps, when the App Store (assuming it was the app store), requested my password a second time, and then proceeded to request security questions and answers..It looked like pushing, and since I'd not heard of Apple instituting this procedure I elected not to input the information.Feedback submitted to Apple on this..

A couple times now, I've tried to copy DVDs onto my computer, then realize they won't work. I think it's because I copied the files and not the movie, but that's not the issue. The issue is, when I go to delete them, I can't. My parents have kept a password on my computer since I got it about three years ago. It's a rare occasion when they take the password off for a few days. Under those circumstances, when the password is off, I can delete the file without any issue. But when the password is on, I can't even move the file to the trash. It keeps asking for a password. I can't even move it to a different folder. It's just sitting on my desktop, taking up space. There's not even anything in it, because I stopped the copying only seconds after it started.
My question is, how can I get around the password to delete this file? I can't restart my computer or anything, because I'll need a password to do that. I need some trick that will bypass the password and get it into the trash. And deleted from the trash, if possible.
I used an external Windows formatted USB hard drive to transport my files from my old laptop to my new Black MacBook.
There are files I do not need, so on my MacBook I highlighted the files and directories and dragged them to the trash, a dialog box asked me for my password, I supplied it, then nothing happened, ie, it did not delete the files.
I am not sure what this means, and I want to delete the files.
i downloaded a couple .psd files off a web site, a few photoshop templates. they went to my downloads folder, they work fine.
i want to delete them and when i try finder ask me to type in my password to be able to move them to the trash.
that doesn't seem right to me.
why is finder asking for my password?
Suddenly Finder keeps asking me to input my password whenever I delete a file to the trash. Emptying the trash is fine, though.I thought maybe I had clicked an option in Onyx that caused this, but having looked several times, I can't see anything in Onyx that would cause this. I've tried repairing disk permissions using Disk Utility, with no effect.

I want to stop seeing "do you want to remember your password for this site" (paraphrased). I have a password manager that I am totally happy with, and the keychain request keeps popping up during my logons.

I just logged in to my system after restarting and immediately, before opening anything (other than Finder), was presented with a request for admin credentials, I think saying something about a change to my login preferences, which didn't make a lot of sense to me.
Any idea what would cause this, or how to make sense of the logs to see what exactly prompted it?
I installed Flash and Adium on this new machine this morning - would this have anything to do with it? I'm unaccustomed to getting the security prompt at unexpected times and now very nervous.
About a month ago, I made a typo when i changed the password to my administrator account. I logged in to a secondary account, succesfully chancing the password of the administrator account. When I logged in to the admin, I was asked for the password to my keychain. This I made a long time ago, and had no clue of what could be. After an hour of constant requests for passwords for different apps and the keychain, I gave up. I deleted the original keychain(or deactivated), made a new one, and made that one the default. But now I am asked the password for that keychain every other minute, and I know that one, but it's just annoying to have to type it so often, especially when it pops up during a movie.

I have a Time-Machine backup on one of my external HD's. It's a backup of my old MBP system. I'm using my Mac Pro now and I wish to delete all the files which I don't need from the backup. Why does it not let me delete anything? It says I do not have enough permissions or something.
I am requested the admin password when ever sending a file to trash using the mouse or the context menu.

Initially, the trash container worked as expected: Items would go directly to the trash and stay there until I emptied it.Â
I don't believe I did anything to cause what it does now but I don't like it: If I move something to to trash, I am prompted to enter my password (which I really don't like) and no items are held in the trash (what I used to call the recycling bin--which I kind of liked having).Â
As for troubleshooting, I have changed the preference settings under "Finder" and nothing changes.

I'd like to keep one backup of a particularly large file in Time Machine, but all the incremental backups are taking up a ton of room. I've read how you can delete all backups of one file, and all files in one backup. But can you delete one file in one backup?

Given that when setting up the iCloud account on Mail no password, as far as I remember, the procedure does not ask for a password (that infact is inexistent), I wonder why sometimes a dialog box like this one appears. It'a little bit bothering, as I have to press the "Cancel" button to dismiss it: the account works fine, though, and it couldn't be different, as I have no idea of what to write in that dialog box.

I made a clean install of lion as i had a little bit of a problems after few years i was uning my iMac.. All of the issues were gone but know i got a new problem with the trash .. Â
Every time i delete something (i.e: a folder that i dont need any more) i requires a password.. Then instead of that folder to appear in the Trash (as it should be), it is automatically gone and do not appear in the trash! what is this but i am suspicious that is the password protection thing that is responsible for that!
"The operation can't be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure "Locked" is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again." With the file I am trying to delete I have clicked the lock to unlock the file under the "get info" and then I close the file out. If I re-open the file the lock symbol shows the file is locked again. Under sharing and permission I have selected the "Read&Write" option. I have searched all over the web and cannot find a way to delete this file or even keep it unlocked. I am running Lion.

I am playing around with HD video and have a very large Quicktime File (12.5GB) that froze my computer while rendering. I need to delete it. (CRASH: screen freezes and dark line slowly comes from top to bottom and once entire screen is slightly darker, a post in the middle pops up and tells me to turn off computer by holding power button).Â
After a lot of trial and error, it seems the problem is that the computer can't handle the massive deletion. Unlike a lot of other similar issues on this forum, this is a single file and not hundreds, so i can't delete portions at a time and be done with it. I have run through all my ideas and need help on how to delete this file from my computer and have come up with two possible ways:Â
1 - Split this video into smaller files. I dont know how to do this: I have SPLIT-CONCAT but that duplicates (then splits) and does not actually split the original. I tried "replacing" the video with the same-named smaller file and it crashed the computer.Â
2 - Change preferences on this computer somehow to allow this massive deletion. I tried a force empty through terminal and it did the same crash. I dont know if there is a preference (disk manager) or otherwise to get rid of this file. Â

How to get IMovie to recognize that I changed the dates of movie clips that I had to import into IPhoto. Subsequently I deleted an event in IPhoto and the darn thing still appeared in IMovie so that option of just deleting and starting all over again seems not to work. (I did not go into trash and really delete it so IMovie might just follow the clips to Trash!) I happened to find that in the Iphoto Library is a file called IMovie Data (In Thumbnails file folder). If I delete that file, will it cause IMovie to regenerate the thumbnails and put all of my photos and clips in the data order I now have corrected in IPhoto?
