why all the documents I've made on pages, exported to pdf and sent to windows users can't be opened at the other end? Pages is great for formating docs, but I'm about to give up on it as nobody seems to EVER be able to open it! If I export it as a .doc it loses the format. Thanks.
View 4 RepliesI can't open any website PDFs. I've tried Adobe Reader and Preview. All I can see when I click on any website PDF is a totally black window. The problem appeared suddenly about two weeks ago. ( I can open PDFs that were already downloaded.)

I've got some PDFs I'm trying to compile into one single PDF file. I'm using an automator script which is working well, except for the fact that the resultant PDF's page sizes are all over the place � some are huge whereas others are pretty tiny...
Is there something I'm missing here? Is there a way to combine PDFs and not have the pages sizes turn out weird? The PDFs are from different sources (some have been scanned at various resolutions, some are word documents that were printed to PDF from within OS X) so that could be the reason, but I'm just looking for a solution atm.
My Safari and Firefox, which are both updated to latest, both crash and freeze on all pages with flash on them. What do I do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need to open a few Pages files but I don't have Pages installed on this computer. I understand you can convert Pages files to .doc or .pdf within the application, but unfortunately I won't have access to the computer with the program installed for a while.
Is there some sort of (free) converter that can convert .pages files to .doc or .pdf or even .rtf?
Or even better, a document creator/viewer than can open .pages files?
Why can't I open a pdf file with Pages?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using Preview to separate pdf pages into separate pdf documents. How might I do the reverse. Preview appears to have combined the documents in the thumbnail, but will not allow saving this. It just saves the highlighted page.

I wrote up a paper for school, saved it on my flash drive and went off to school.
Only problem is my school is entirely PC, and I didn�t remember to save it for word.
I need a program that can convert a pages document to word or let me open it in another program on the PC.
I tried installing open office on the computer here at school but it wont let me. I should be able to install most other programs though.
When my professor asks me who I don�t have it done I don�t want to say because I use a mac. Well I do, but I shouldn't.

Lately I have been unable to open PDFs from the internet. When I click it sends me to a blank internet tab. Sometimes I am able to control click and have the option to save the file in my downloads, then have to go back into finder to open the file. This is also the case when opening PDFs from emails. However there are some files on the internet that will not allow me that option. I have tried this in firefox, safari, and chrome.All are the same.Everything worked just fine until about 3 days ago.

View 14 Replies View Related i have recently been having trouble opening .pdf files properly. they open but they are all blank pages. they open as blank files in "preview", it doesnt open at all using adobe digital additions and through microsoft word i get gibberish or i get pop ups that say "word cannot open this document. the document might be in use or might not be a valid word document" ive downloaded over 5 times and each time i try with all three options and i get the same thing.
i tried to pull it into iArchiver but that also didnt work.
the file ends with .pdf
also although several other documents have done the same thing i know something is not completely wrong with my .pdf thing or any of those applications because other pdf files do open.
i tried to give as much information right at the beginning so forgive me if its too long.
on the iwork cd i used to install it says version 9.0.3, but i still cant open .doc files with it, and when i do try to update it, it says eligible pages cannot be found in applications. What should i do?

Have a Mac Book Pro 5.4 running mac os x 10.6.8. Recently I am unable to open bank statements or other pdf's on the web with preview. Unless I install Adobe Reader all I get is dark black screen. I've tried using Firefox instead of Safari but have the same problem. Somehow a pdf created with Adobe Reader can no longer be opened with preview. I've check and preview is the default app for .pdf files. I tried deleting Adobe Reader for Mac but when I click on the web link preview can't open the document.

I recently upgraded to a hosted Exchange solution and they offer a download of Entourage 2008 that will allow Exchange Server interaction. When I loaded that version over top of my install, Entourage will not open. It gives me an error about the identity not being able to open the item.
I am unable to view or download bank statements from our bank online using Safari. Also tried Firefox and it didn't work. Also unable to view, open, or download any other type of PDFs on my iMac since removing the hard drive, replacing it with a new one, and reinstalling OS X Lion 10.7.4. I didn't notice this problem until after installing the recent Updates for Safari 5.1.7 and OS X Lion 10.7.4, so I don't know if it could have anything to do with them or not. I am still in the process of reinstalling programs, but everything else seems to be working fine since the switch to the new hard drive except for not being able to view PDFs.

Since I upgraded adobe, I haven't been able to open pdf's directly from websites--I just get a black screen (in Safari, or a white screen in Firefox). I can sometimes right click on the link and either download the pdf or save it as a document as a workaround to enable me to open it.

Im really diggin Iwork Pages and have been using it for a few months. However, somehow when working on a multipage document, I attached 2 of the pages together and cannot get them to separate.
The best way to explain it is; if you click on the VIEW / Page Thumbnails your pages will appear down the left column. Normally you can move them around, delete, copy whatever. Somehow 2 of mine only move together and they cannot be separated, moved or deleted without both going.
