View 3 RepliesInstalled without problems on a 3 y.o. 15MBP and a new iMac. See no performance issues so far, but I HATE the fact that the FULL SCREEN photo viewing is no longer there! I just hate it, that there is absolutely no way to view pictures full screen. period. (this was THE MOST important feature of iPhoto.) As such, zooming in full screen is NOT available anymore either, instead of floating windows with adjustments, etc., zoom, effects, you get stupid permanent bars that you can't even move anywhere. Also, gone is ability to quick launch a full screen slideshow. You are now asked to select photos for a slideshow first, and then create that slideshow. In Classic you will get an ability to view these full screen, thats the only way. The stupid music that accompanies classic is ... well, stupid. I just wish the Apple store in Bethesda MD had it installed so I could see how horrible it is, before giving them $79 for a Family Pack! My money now goes to Adobe for LR3, a much, much better suite! Forgot to mention, this version is NOT 64 bit, and it does not recognize dual-screen mode either, something that Adobe implemented years ago. Shame on APple for dummifying a simple photo viewer to the iPhone level.

After several hours my mac is running linked to my LCD screen through MiniDisplay Port - VGA connector, Front Row simply doesn't start. It fades to black for a while but then it immediately fades back to the desktop.
I uninstalled every application might have affected Front Row (Caffeine, LastFm, TV Row) but it was useless. I even tried to fix permissions in the Disk Utility, but it didn't help.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any way to run a dual screen setup on an old style mac mini (the one with only 1 DVI output)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Seagate external drive. In the past few days a message pops up "The disc was not ejected properly", in spite the icon is still on the desktop.
I restarted the finder and nothing showed up, empty desktop. I forced shot down, and I could not log in with my password, because the keyboard would not type. I shot down the computer holding the power button, and disconected the external drive. I could login, bot my outlook 2011 would not start and Adobe acrobat would crash. I rebuild the outlook, and restarted the computer. Went back to normal so far.
Question, what caused all this mess,
a) is external Seagate drive duying (Disk utility said that the drive is OK)?
b) Did I catch a virus?
Also every time I force shot down, I have to rebuilf identity for outlook 2011. Very disturbing. I never had these issues with Snow Leopard.

Is it likely? Aperture is a pro app and is on there, and it'd make sense if they also added Logic and Final Cut - it'd be like a professional version of iWork with the whole set.

Basically I'd like to have a couple of desktop patterns with all the shortcut keys for particular apps but don't want them up all the time, only when I'm using that app.
Ideally, quitting the app would return to the normal desktop pattern.

shutting down. It looks as though it is shutting down normally and then the screen darkens from top to bottom with an error message. I can't get a screen shot of the message but all it says is that there has been an error. It happens seemingly at random occasions but then when I subsequently log back on there is an message saying that MACOSX has an error

In Logic Pro 7, I can't click anything in the right pane of the bounce dialog box. I CAN select PCM, Mp3 etc. on the left, but get no response from the mouse when trying to change the sample rate, interleave, dithering etc. on the right. I also can't click the flip-box to select different packages in the Loop Browser. I haven't noticed this happening in other applications. DOES ANYONE READING THIS KNOW HOW I CAN GET SOME HELP FROM APPLE? I am told i can't even buy apple care because my computer is too old. I don't know what to do. Tried trashing prefs. Not running any failed audio units. Nothing new in software update. Don't really know what else to do.

The problem is that it (supposedly) needs a new logic board. I've been watching logic boards on ebay, but I'm not finding anything with matching part numbers. My logic board has the following numbers:

I guess the important numbers are the 630-* numbers. Perhaps one it the
'as designed' rev part number, and one is the 'as manufactured' rev part number?
I have the dual 1 Ghz processors; would they work on a 1.25 Ghz logic board? Most of the boards I see on ebay are 820-1476-A, or 820-1308-A.
What's the difference between the 820- boards and the 630- boards?

Does anyone know if the logic board is the same for all current dual nehalem processors offered by Apple? Or does the dual 2.26GHz quad have a different logic board than the dual 2.93GHz quad?
It seems like if they have the same logic board you could buy the dual 2.26GHz now and down the road you could buy the dual 2.93GHz chips (when they aren't $2,600 more) and just replace the dual 2.26GHz chips. Maybe it's not that easy, but if it is it seems like a great alternative to buying the top machine right now. Does anyone know if this is possible??

Every question I see about changing the screenshot format here seems overly complicated, or requires installing another app.
I'm pretty sure screenshots used to always be png, but I just noticed that they are now jpeg. I do a lot of graphics work and want to capture as png.
Here there are instructions for code in Terminal. Is that really necessary? Shouldn't it just be a preference somewhere? (I will always use cmd+shift+4 to take the screenshots)

I have a dual 2.0GHz G5 that's refusing to boot consistently/run consistently. Here are the symptoms:- Runs for inconsistent period of time; sometimes it hangs just after logging in, other times it hangs after an hour or so of backing up the boot drive (50-75% complete)- Fails to boot after hanging; sometimes it stops at the gray Apple screen without a wait icon, sometimes it stops at the same screen with wait icon, other times the screen stays black- Frequently will not boot into single-user mode- Frequently will not allow you into open-firmware

Is buying logic advisable if I use garageband? The thing I cannot wait to try is MainStage, it looks fantastic. Is there seriously that much of a difference between logic and garageband?
