Sep 11, 2009shutting down. It looks as though it is shutting down normally and then the screen darkens from top to bottom with an error message. I can't get a screen shot of the message but all it says is that there has been an error. It happens seemingly at random occasions but then when I subsequently log back on there is an message saying that MACOSX has an error

Oct 7, 2009This morning I woke up to finding my MBP shut off... I must've pulled the powercord in my sleep. No problem there, I needed to calibrate my battery anyway. What I want to know is what would cause transmission to use most of my processing power, just on start up? this screen shot below was taken while waiting for the application to start. Transmission is up and running now, but why would it take 15-20 mins to do so?

Mar 21, 2012just wondering how I would go about capturing a screen image to be used on a forum.So I would like to capture a still image from a video in order to use it as my signature block in a group forum.Someone suggested I push the "Print Screen" button when I find the image I want.But of course Macs do not have a print screen button (at least not on my keyboard anyway).

Apr 18, 2012Since switching to Lion, the screen image on our iMac has become VERY unstable. It frequently flickers to the right and even moves completely to the right and disappears. It also zooms in unexpectedly and cannot be restored to normal view without backing up a screen. Another annoying feature is that while the screen flickers and twitches, one cannot access hot fields to enter data or select pull down menus. Â

Apr 5, 2012Every question I see about changing the screenshot format here seems overly complicated, or requires installing another app.Â
I'm pretty sure screenshots used to always be png, but I just noticed that they are now jpeg. I do a lot of graphics work and want to capture as png.Â
Here there are instructions for code in Terminal. Is that really necessary? Shouldn't it just be a preference somewhere? (I will always use cmd+shift+4 to take the screenshots)

Jul 4, 2012I was changing my desktop screen saver. Now it says it is "Loading Images..." and won't stop. It is locked and I can't do anything.Everytime I click on my "System Preferences" -- the Desktop & Screen Saver comes up - has my old picture and states it is still loading images.
This has been going on for awhile and I can't seem to get it stop. The Colouful wheel goes around. Â

The pre-dominantly purple color is the same purple as my wallpaper. The rest of the stuff (the white lines, the gray on the left)-- I have no idea.

Dec 19, 2010I'd like to save individual disc images of the OSX and Win 7 installs on two partitions on my drive so that I can restore the operating systems if I need to. How can I do this since both have different file systems? Do I use Carbon Cloner? How do I restore the Windows partition if I do this?

Dec 19, 2010I installed Windows 7 32-bit Home edition on a 200gb partition using Bootcamp. I am installing and tweaking the Windows installation and would like to take a snapshot of the system after I have installed all programs and settings.
I used Acronis True Image 2011 on my previous Dell laptop to take a disc image of my installation then used that on subsequent reinstallations using an Acronis boot disc and disc image accessed from a USB hard drive.
How can I reinstall the disc image of an Aronis True Image partition on a Macbook Pro 13" 2010 if part of the drive has OSX? Could I boot from an Acronis boot CD then reinstall the Windows partition on the MBP?

Sep 8, 2009Image Capture in Snow Leopard defaults to saving to the Pictures folder, but I want to change it to the Desktop instead. If I simply change it in the app, close it, and open it again, it reverts back to the Pictures folder.

Jun 21, 2014I have a newly refurbished emac running the latest OSX 10.9.3. I used to be able to move images from iPhoto to the desktop and using Preview change the file size. I need to do this to upload images of a specific size to a website. Now Preview will not save the adjusted image size. I adjust the size from a 5 meg image to a 1.5 meg image but when I go to upload the image it is still 5 meg. I try saving it before closing it but it doesn't do anything (by the way I hate the new options or lack thereof when it comes to saving in Preview)
