I see lots of people on these forums with such sweet themes. Many times I ask the person, but I get no response. So, where DOES everyone get their themes from? I'm looking for a sleek modern, darker one.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI asked this question a long time ago, but I'm contemplating buying a new Mac (I may wait for Lion and get a new iMac then).
Anyway if you've seen my other posts you'll know I have an old iMac G5 with Panther which for various reasons I've only recently starting actually using. This means I have pretty old browsers and I can't help more recent versions. This has meant that lately both Safari and Firefox, which are updated as far I can for Panther, seem to crash if I try and go on anything but very simple websites.
I don't know if this is a fault with my iMac or just because it's such old software now (OSX and browsers alike) and so modern websites won't work - in much the same way as more and more websites won't work on my work PC, which still has IE6 and XP, because it's such an old browser (IT won't let us upgrade because some work-based stuff we use was designed to work with IE6!)
However, it has made me a bit cautious about getting a new Mac. I mainly want my Mac for websurfing which is a pretty light activity, BUT I do use chat-rooms, inbedded videos etc. etc. a lot. I know it's not Apple's fault but I really do want a machine where I can visit any website and use any feature.
Please be honest with me - do you have difficulty on any websites using a modern Mac with up to date OSX and browsers? Chat rooms, embedded video, shopping etc? If anyone is gay I'm specifically thinking of [URL] chat rooms which can be awkward even on Windows. I really love the web and I don't want to be unable to use any site - even just a few not working would really annoy me, so I need to know if Mac is the right platform for me...

I seldom use it because I do not what to spend an hour absorbing all the hype about firefox to find out how to make it look like a modern browser. It looks like something from the 90's. Every thing is displayed minus images usually and just generally looking amateur. I know there is something to D L but I have no idea which one it is and don't want most of what they offer to 'help' me. And why not just make it look like a real browser instead of beak dipping ubber ales?

I've been doing some research into how to convert them and came across a product called MacLinkPlus from Data Viz, but I cannot find it on there site and assume that it may have been discontinued. View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving a bit of trouble getting Modern Warfare 2 running on Xbox live. My setup is: BT Home Hub 2.0 wirelessly supplying my iMac with connection. I then have a ethernet cable running from the iMac feeding the internet connection to power Xbox Live. Previously this has worked flawlessly until. I try and play Modern Warfare 2. Currently when in the game screen it tells me that my 'NAT type is STRICT'. This isn't the case on my PS3 which is wireless where my NAT type is OPEN.

lower third of the 13" new MBP, is darker than the rest. So when I am reading forums, the top starts off with white background, and the bottom is clearly a darker grey. This only is visible when setting the backlight to less than 75% max brightness. Normally I have it at half brightness. I am gonna be crazy with taking these things back. My big cheap Dell LCD and E6500 laptop have no where near the uniformity issues this Macbook has been having. Is this common or do I keep getting bad ones?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had so far been using it with screen brightness level set at 7 bars out of 16.But, since the past few days, I've noticed that 7 bars is too dark. I have to set the level at 9 or 10 bars to feel comfortable.Nothing else in the MBP settings or the environment have changed. I don't use any of the auto dimming features.I'm wondering whether it's the MBP or my eyes that are deteriorating.Has anyone experienced or heard of gradual dimming of MBP screens over time? Can anyone suggest causes for dimming?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am having a display issue with my MacBook (mid-2007) I am getting occasional pixelation on darker colors. The pixels turn redish/purplish/pinkish...If I press on the screen near the Apple logo (on the top cover) and on the lcd screen I can sometimes get the issue to go away. When I plug in an external monitor the pixelation does not show up on the external monitor but will stay on the laptop lcd display. I do have windows also installed and the pixelation shows up in windows as well.... So my thinking that it is likely an issue with the LCD cable or LCD display....Â

I was testing out the MBA 13" and 11" again. My main goal was to see how much faster Flash & SSD are in comparison to HDD. It's so fast at restarting and booting. However I noticed something strange. Both units had darker tint towards the edge of the screens. I know colour shift happens with TN panels, but not like this?

About a month ago I noticed that, within about 5 minutes of starting my computer back up from sleep the left half of the screen would flick and become darker than the lower half (about 4 clicks of the light button lower). Sometimes the screen will flick to become even darker than this (but usually it returns to the 4 clicks darker after a short while), and sometimes it returns to normal only to go darker again.

My Air's screen is slightly darker at the bottom (only on a few millimeters, but still). It only happens on a white/light background though (I don't have my dock at the bottom). In comparison, the screen of my MacBook has a very uniform backlight. Does anybody else have this issue?

I find that turning on the NVIDIA card, instead of using the integrated Intel one, makes my laptop hotter.
