I've a ipod shuffle 2gb and just wondering if converting songs to AAC could help me pour in more songs in this tiny things..
Most of my songs are either 192 or 256 kbps MP3 format with some even at 320kbps..While syncing we get an option to convert selection to 128kbps AAC.I never tried that option because I was scared as this might effect my original file.Does it convert the actual file and then syncs it to ur ipod or does it retains the original file and sends converted file directly to ipod without effecting my original file...
I converted a .flac file to a .wav file in order to import it into iTunes but it still doesn't work. What can I do to fix it?

View 8 Replies View Relatedhaving spend days reading various iTunes HowTo's and guides, I still do not know how to accomplish this: My family's CD collection comprises about 700 discs. All of them are in my Mac's 240GB iTunes library as Apple Lossless files. My dad uses a PC (urgh) and wants to have all of the songs on his hard drive, too, to be able to sync them with his iPod. His iPod, however, only has a capacity of 120GB and he has got a 160GB external hard drive for the music files, which is why I cannot simply copy my Lossless library to his PC.
So the callenge is not move the entire library, there are tons of guides to do this. Instead, I want to convert the music to AAC on my Mac first and then only move these files to his PC's external drive via network. As I have put a lot of effort into my Lossless library, I do not want to take any risks (however, I do have a time machine backup).
My thoughts:....................
well i recently converted everything to 128 aac and if i convert those to 256 is there any quality gain?

Feel free to move this if it is a better fit somewhere else.
i have 50gb of music all mp3's most is 192 kpbs but I want to convert the rest from 320kps. Whats the best way to do this? How long it would it take? How much HDD would I save? Would all the info/artwork/etc be saved after conversion?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to convert all my tracks in iTunes to 128Kbps without having the original tracks imported into iTunes aswell.
I'm picking up a 128GB SSD (going from 640GB HDD) and wanted to put a majority of the compressed/converted tracks onto the library on the drive itself. (similar to how I do it with my iPad).
Is there a way to drag and drop the tracks into iTunes and auto-convert them on the fly without having a huge lossless file and the 128kbps file?
I regularly receive songs in WAV format. In the past, I have always converted them to AIFF to overcome tagging limitations with WAV. Up until recently, I converted songs from WAV to AIFF by right-clicking them in iTunes, then choosing "make AIFF file" (that's not the exact wording, but similar). Just tried to do so today and found that this option is now missing! Was this removed in the latest version of iTunes [I'm running 9.1.1 (12)]? Could it perhaps be restored by some command-line entry in Terminal?

About 10% of my iTunes files are still protected. I'd like to find them and put them in a special playlist but I haven't managed to find an efficient way of finding them all and listing them.

I have searched all over and can't seem to find a free utility for mac.
When I attempt to expand password protected files using Stuffit Expander 13.0.3, I get an error saying "An error occurred attempting to expand /Users. The structure of the archive is damaged (error #17540)". I don't however get these errors when expanding files that aren't password protected, they expand normally with Stuffit. I've tried using the Archive Utility.app but it just creates a zip file and creates another rar file.

After a bit of research I opted for WPA2-PSK (WiFi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key). Is this the best thing to go for out of the below options:
WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
WPA2-PSK(Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key)
WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK
WPA-802.1x

WPA-802.1x+WPA2-802.1x
I've got myself a random password (thanks to a generator website) and I'm not allowing the broadcast of the name (SSID).
In dreaded Microsoft word I use "Save As", then click "Options" and there is the option to save my file with a password so that my kids can't get in and muck up my business writing.
I can't see "Options" under "Save as" but I'm just trialling iWorks (full iWorks disc arrives next week).
Is there a way to do this ? When I try to open any file that is password protected, I get an error that the file 'in an incompatible format' (if memory serves, I'm away from my Mac right now). I can open it fine in NeoOffice, but it never works in Number '08. I'd consider going to iWork '09 if the problem has been addressed there.
