I recently found some old .doc files on my external hard drive. the files are passworded. I know what the password is but TextEdit won't open passworded files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I attempt to expand password protected files using Stuffit Expander 13.0.3, I get an error saying "An error occurred attempting to expand /Users. The structure of the archive is damaged (error #17540)". I don't however get these errors when expanding files that aren't password protected, they expand normally with Stuffit. I've tried using the Archive Utility.app but it just creates a zip file and creates another rar file.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn dreaded Microsoft word I use "Save As", then click "Options" and there is the option to save my file with a password so that my kids can't get in and muck up my business writing.
I can't see "Options" under "Save as" but I'm just trialling iWorks (full iWorks disc arrives next week).
Is there a way to do this ? When I try to open any file that is password protected, I get an error that the file 'in an incompatible format' (if memory serves, I'm away from my Mac right now). I can open it fine in NeoOffice, but it never works in Number '08. I'd consider going to iWork '09 if the problem has been addressed there.

Using iTunes 10 on an iMac running OS X 10.7.  Have converted ordinary audio CD to MP3 after importing to iTunes.  Now, want to burn MP3 files to CD. Where are the files? Yes, I did look inside iTunes Media folder. No luck.Â

I recently decided to sync my entire iTunes Library to my iPod instead of managing it all manually. I use the option "Convert higher bit rate songs to 256 kbps AAC", since most of my library consists of CD rips. At the end of each sync, I receive the following message:
"iTunes could not copy "Stage Start" to the iPod because the file could not be converted"
I took a look at the tracks in question, and couldn't find any good reason that they would not convert. They are ALAC files that I ripped from CD, and there are other tracks on the same album that converted with no problems. As a test, I changed the Import Settings to AAC@256kbps, right-clicked on the file and chose "Create AAC version", but received this message.
I'm not sure why it would say the file format is not valid, when it is lossless like all the rest and plays fine. I checked the file(s) in Finder and it has the .m4a extension like all the rest. The only thing different I noticed is that the album art thumbnail doesn't show up for these particular tracks.
I have some old audio files going back to OS 7 or OS 9.  There is no file extension. Â

How can I convert these into something OS X will play.
I have a playlist of 28 songs that are various file types. I would like to convert them to aiff. I went to the playlist and selected all, right clicked and selected Create aiff version. It made them but I have to search for each one and then put it in a new playlist.Â
Is there a way to make iTunes put them in one folder or a better way to gather them all to the new playlist then clicking on Music on the left and putting the title in the search box and dragging them one by one to the new playlist?Â
I have ripped a Audio-DVD with 5.1/24bit/48kHz to FLAC some time ago. Now I want to import them into iTunes. So first I tried Max and XLD and converted them to Apple Lossless format. But iTunes just ignores them when I drag them over the library.Â
Then I thought, maybe the converters can't handle the extra channels. So I imported the files into Cubase and converted them to AIFF. Then the same procedure as before. This time, iTunes accepted 10 out of 14 tracks. Why the remaining tracks weren't imported stays a secret to me.
Now, since AIFF files aren't compressed, I tried to convert them to Apple Lossless from within iTunes. But this time it hits me with an unknown error -50.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBeing a relatively new Mac user, I'm not sure what the best freeware would be for what I want to do, and I don't want to download twenty different programs before I find the right one. So, I'm looking for recommendations.
1) I want to find a program that lets me easily convert .wma files to .mp3's.
2) I also want to find a free, simple program that allows me to unzip .rar files. (This is another case with mp3's, except I have twenty songs zipped into one, and can only play them with VLC RAR-Loader.)
Is their a freeware program that will allow me to convert flv files to avi files in Leopard?
