View 6 RepliesI recently decided to sync my entire iTunes Library to my iPod instead of managing it all manually. I use the option "Convert higher bit rate songs to 256 kbps AAC", since most of my library consists of CD rips. At the end of each sync, I receive the following message:
"iTunes could not copy "Stage Start" to the iPod because the file could not be converted"
I took a look at the tracks in question, and couldn't find any good reason that they would not convert. They are ALAC files that I ripped from CD, and there are other tracks on the same album that converted with no problems. As a test, I changed the Import Settings to AAC@256kbps, right-clicked on the file and chose "Create AAC version", but received this message.
I'm not sure why it would say the file format is not valid, when it is lossless like all the rest and plays fine. I checked the file(s) in Finder and it has the .m4a extension like all the rest. The only thing different I noticed is that the album art thumbnail doesn't show up for these particular tracks.
So currently, I have a 720p version of Ironman (RMVB) and a 720p version of Avatar (MKV) and since I'm planning on getting an iPad, I figured I might as well convert these movies to a 1024 x ?
The way I do it is to click the default iPhone video option and change the resolution and to make the file size at around 1.5-2GB. For the Ironman one, it converts and such but the audio and video are COMPLETELY out of sync and I don't know what's wrong with it :S But for the mkv, it stops like at around 30-40% and says it's done.
I am tryinng to convert a video with visual hub, and it keeps saying that it cannot convert the video because the audio track is not recognizable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've a ipod shuffle 2gb and just wondering if converting songs to AAC could help me pour in more songs in this tiny things..
Most of my songs are either 192 or 256 kbps MP3 format with some even at 320kbps..While syncing we get an option to convert selection to 128kbps AAC.I never tried that option because I was scared as this might effect my original file.Does it convert the actual file and then syncs it to ur ipod or does it retains the original file and sends converted file directly to ipod without effecting my original file...
I used to always be able to convert my WAV files into MP3 in iTunes and I can't do it any longer, what's going on with that?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to move my library off of my Mac, and onto a PC without using iTunes, and am trying to use a more "open" file format.
View 13 Replies View Relatedhaving spend days reading various iTunes HowTo's and guides, I still do not know how to accomplish this: My family's CD collection comprises about 700 discs. All of them are in my Mac's 240GB iTunes library as Apple Lossless files. My dad uses a PC (urgh) and wants to have all of the songs on his hard drive, too, to be able to sync them with his iPod. His iPod, however, only has a capacity of 120GB and he has got a 160GB external hard drive for the music files, which is why I cannot simply copy my Lossless library to his PC.
So the callenge is not move the entire library, there are tons of guides to do this. Instead, I want to convert the music to AAC on my Mac first and then only move these files to his PC's external drive via network. As I have put a lot of effort into my Lossless library, I do not want to take any risks (however, I do have a time machine backup).
My thoughts:....................
well i recently converted everything to 128 aac and if i convert those to 256 is there any quality gain?

Is there a way to convert all my tracks in iTunes to 128Kbps without having the original tracks imported into iTunes aswell.
I'm picking up a 128GB SSD (going from 640GB HDD) and wanted to put a majority of the compressed/converted tracks onto the library on the drive itself. (similar to how I do it with my iPad).
Is there a way to drag and drop the tracks into iTunes and auto-convert them on the fly without having a huge lossless file and the 128kbps file?
I regularly receive songs in WAV format. In the past, I have always converted them to AIFF to overcome tagging limitations with WAV. Up until recently, I converted songs from WAV to AIFF by right-clicking them in iTunes, then choosing "make AIFF file" (that's not the exact wording, but similar). Just tried to do so today and found that this option is now missing! Was this removed in the latest version of iTunes [I'm running 9.1.1 (12)]? Could it perhaps be restored by some command-line entry in Terminal?

I have a batch of HD video downloads in my iTunes Store queue that I can't delete. Before it was annoying, having to purchase both the regular video and HD video, then delete the unwanted HD download from my queue list, but now it's a problem. I can't empty the unwanted HD downloads, and for me to download them all will tie up my connection for a week or more.
I do not have the bandwidth
I have to convert .mov to .wmv for and internet website. I got quick time pro 7 as I was sure I could convert the movie from this application but the strange thing is that it only converts 22sec of the movie - not the whole one - to .wmv. Does anyone know why this is happening? In addition I tried exporting the movie from Final Cut to a windows media player file - same thing happens - 22 sec of the movie get converted.

when I go to the Radio section of iTunes and the alternative rock section (this probably happens in other sections as well but alternative is the only thing I listen to...) Anyways, it buffers, plays for about 3 seconds, then buffers again... CONSTANTLY.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a weird one. For some strange reason, iTunes is unable to connect to the internet on both my Vista PC (I know, I know) AND my Mac AND MY iPod Touch! All my other internet-enabled applications on all my machines (PC, Mac) can connect just fine.
This is too weird. I'm wondering if my school is blocking iTunes, but seriously, that's the LAST thing they should be doing. iTunes is, you know, legit and legal.
When I first installed iTunes, I declined the option for iTunes to automatically change the mp3's file names to an organized format. For example, [windows], my 'My Music' folder is very disorganized with files that have the artist first, or just the song name, and even 01 'song name'.
Is there a way I can turn that setting back on so iTunes organizes everything for me? Or was I misinterpreting what it meant?
I just got a $25 iTunes gift card for my birthday. I bought the Batmobile game for my iPhone for .99 and that brought be down to an even $24. Then I purchased Wolfenstein3D for $4.99...but now my balance is $18.96. Anyone know why?
View 6 Replies View Relatedmy hard drive was wipped clean, and I lost everything. So, I wanted to get all of my TV, Movies and Music back that I bought from iTunes that was not on my iPod. They gave me all of it back. All 872 files. So, now I just had to go to Store-Check for Available Downloads. And I did. Then I entered my password and it said Checking for Downloads... After a while, it came up with an error message saying that it was unable to check for downloads. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again. I checked and both were good so I tried again. It didn't work. Then I tried again and again and still, nothing.
I rebooted my computer, uninstalled iTunes, restarted my router and still nothing. It won't work on my laptop and it also won't work on my Dad's desktop. So I called Apple and they had me do a DNS flush, still no luck. Then after a while, they said it wasn't iTunes so I should call my internet provider (Verizon Fios) They did all of this stuff, change the readings of my router to avoid 2.4 GhZ thing (I don't know what that means) and they also brought me to [URL] and had me optomize my speed and I did that and still no luck. The guy eventually said that it wasn't my router so I should contact Apple. So know I am here. If anyone could help that would be great. Especially if it's solved by Sunday night because I have a 10 hour bus ride on Monday and I would like to have something to watch on the way there.
Im a little confused with the way itunes organizes songs. Last night I added some of my cds to itunes and I got a little confused after trying to find my songs and not being on one spot which is what I was expecting to see or at least separated by album.
Where does itunes places downloaded songs from a CD? How can I organize my songs (after uploaded) by Artist and Album? Can I create a playlist for each Artist is this the right way to do it? Can someone show me the way the music should be organized in itunes? Can someone explain how itunes organizes songs by default or direct me to where I can get the right information?
