Applications :: I Movie Slide Show Cross Dissolve Transitions Are "jumpy"?

I initially made a slide show of 250 old family photos in iPhoto. It looks great and the cross dissolve function is very smooth.
However, I now need to take portions of music rather than entire songs and blend the songs into each other. This requires that do the slide show in iMovie so can use the timeline to edit the music to fit with certain portions of the slideshow.
The problem that I am running into is that the cross dissolve function in iMovie is jumpy and not smooth like it is in iPhoto. Also, some photos have "stuttering" and flashing between the transitions. I have tried adjusting the cross dissolve time and length of photo and can't seem to get it to look right. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? For example, if I want each photo to be on the screen for 3 seconds, how long should I make the transition? If I remove the transitions, this problem is gone. But then the photos just go from 1 to the other after 3 seconds and the effect is a bit jarring. I'm stumped. In addition, the image quality does not seem as good as in iPhoto - but if I use iPhoto I cannot make a title page or time the music.

ive been using FCPX for ages now. now for some reason....i'm unable to add a cross dissolve to the VIDEO track where I would like a dissolve....i have attached a jpg to show you.....as you can see, the cross dissolve when i drag and drop to the VIDEO layer......forces to the AUDIO layer.

I am new to video editing and am currently looking for a software for Mac to put together a slide + sound show. I am looking for a software that will allow me to play and edit the slide show and music at the same time, i.e. I will have the show and the audio track available for editing on the screen at the same time. The slideshow is a series of jpegs, that will have 3 to 4 timelines running together at the same time, each timeline will be fading in or out or dissovling at the same time so that the transition will create a new image through layering the timelines (am I making sense?).
For the sound, I need to be able to mix multiple tracks and while the show is playing and will be able to increase/decrease the volume of individual tracks at any point of the show. Final cut will suit the video need of my show, but not the audio need (if it does, please let me know), while sound booth will satisfy my audio needs (but I cannot put them on the same screen). I am looking for software that will do the show + sound editing job on the same screen and will not cost as much as FinalCut or Soundbooth. It would be great if there is a good free software.

Im doing a photo slideshow with some video sliced in. It should all have clean transitions that include slight zooming, scaling, panning. Each transition needs to be customized for each shot so the zooming doesn't randomly zoom into an arm or a forehead or something rediculous as of now I presume adobe premiere is what I will be using as it can do all that. I was just curious if ilife09 does it or something else so that I can get it done fast and as streamlined as possible.
the presentation then has to be burned to a DVD.

doing a bit of self advertising for my tiling business and have created this afternoon a wicked little presentation/slide show to use as a bit of an advertising ploy only problem is im not sure how to get it from the keynote to a dvd type package that i can post to people and they can just wack in their pc/dvd player and play it?

In an iPhoto event, the photos are arranged in photo name order or date order. What I'd like to do is rearrange the photos in a different order that I specify by drag and drop, and then burn them to a CD (or just a folder I could xfer would be fine) so that when viewed on a PC they come out in that order.

Is there an Apple Program equivalent to Photodex Pro-Show Gold?
My friends have PCs and are able to produce great slide shows with every slide having a different timing to fit in with the music.
I have searched many Apple options and have bought 2 programs but haven't been able to find anything as easy to use and reliable. I spent 2 hours working with one program then when I saved and replayed the show, many of the timings were altered.

How can I avoid having a black border when I make a video from a PowerPoint presentation with screenium.
When I choose the Apple wide screen monitor, the border is on all 4 sides, when I choose my second monitor as the output, the border is top and bottom.
Is there a way for the powerpoint slide show to go truly full screen?

I would like to create a slide show video in iMovie to upload to youtube using a piece of music (non copyright natch, *cough*). As I only have a few images to use I'd like to be able to just simply repeat the images until the track stops.Being not terribly Mac/technically minded I'm having problems. The silde show should work around the complete piece of music but I can't seem to do it.

i just want a simple fade to black effort for each slide. nothing fancy.
when i convert it to swf with various programs, none of them keep the ppt transitions....
also, i dont want the swf to be clickable.

I am running my MacMini 1.83GHz, OSX10.6.3 through my 37" Sharp LCD TV as my media centre.
When I activate the iTunes visualiser in full screen, the image jumps and jagged lines appear randomly across the screen.
This does not happen if the visualiser Is running where you can see iTunes control bar above and below the visualiser graphics. It also does not seem to happen with any of the other iTunes built in visualisers.

I just installed iWork 06 but it seems although I have gained a bunch of new transitions I have lost several, and some of them I used often!
Why is this? And is there a way to add the old removed ones from Keynote 2 into keynote 3?
It appears to be:
Burn
One of the Mosaic Flips
Drop
Falling tiles
Grid
Motion Dissolve
Those were good transitions!
And some of the text transitions are lost too. One odd thing I noticed is that if i bring in one of the old Keynote files with the old transitions it adds that old transition to the list!

I currently use iMovie 7.1.4 on my Mac OS X 10.5.6.
I was using iMovie to make a video, but I couldn't find how to control the time in which transitions pass by. It looks like 0.4 seconds is the default time for each one, but how do you change it to... say, 2 seconds? And yes, the video before and after the 0.4 transition is not longer than it.
So I'm basically asking: How do you control the speed of a transition in iMovie 7.1.4?

I'm currently working out of iWork on my mac doing papers with a large amount of equations in them; however, when I travel to school they only use Windows and Microsoft Office...is there any program that can offer cross compatibility between them? (ie. if I make a document in Pages I can use either latexit or mathtype, but when I open up in Word 2007 or 2010 will the equations come up? Likewise, if I put equations into a Word document, when I open them up in Pages will they show?)

Not sure if this should be under "Running Windows on a Mac", but this isn't exactly Windows... so here it goes.
I am trying to run TF2 via CrossOver Games 8.0.0 on Snow Leopard using the specs described in my sig. I've placed a support ticket with them, but they haven't been answering quick enough to my liking; I have an itchy trigger finger, I guess. So, has anybody had any experience with Wine and/or CrossOver that could help me out? yes.. yes i'm fully upgraded to 2.1.7 and have rebooted, reinstalled, and set default settings in iPhoto '09.
all my MRoogling and Googling have led to forums that never found an answer.
i also tried switching to 1.1.3 (i like tiger's front row better) and had massive problems with iPhoto '09... so i will be reinstalling unless there is a fix for that (which i just asked in the original thread)

Just made an image slideshow in Final Cut.
Just a bunch of images and some audio.
When I export via File > Export > Quicktime Movie..., the cross dissolves between images disappear when I watch the movie in Quicktime.
When I export via File > Export > Using Quicktime Conversion... the color looks horrible in the Quicktime movie.

I need a spreadsheet program that can:
1. Operate cross platform (my IT guy�s PC, I�m Mac)
2. Sort capabilities to five, ideally six, levels
3. Capable of using macros
4. Can convert spreadsheets for an html (online) environment
I founded a national grassroots movement thats gone viral. We list registered supporters on our site, using Google Apps forms, the copy the content into an Excel spreadsheet. A friend out of state (PC user) is able to work magic with macros that magically sorts, fixes, and converts the lists to appear in our online directory (you can see an example at http://www.the350project.net/states/states_a-d.html). I created the graphics; he somehow builds the page using those plus the spreadsheets.
This is something I really need to be able to do on my end, as the owner of the site, but MS took macros out of the Mac version of Office Excel....OpenOffice only sorts three levels, and he says we need at least five....
Since I have no intention of becoming a PC user, I need to find a software program that will work on a Mac and still be able to do all this. I realize many (most?) software programs are capable of opening and saving .xls files, but the multi-level sort, macros, and html are critical to any of this working, according to him.

I would like to be able to have my email set up on a usb memory stick so that I can carry it around, plug it in to a mac and there's my email or plug it in to a pc and hey presto theres my email again.If that's not enough then I would like to be able to have multiple email accounts on the (living in a dreamworld) email client.Anyone got any ideas? I have tried a version of thunderbird that was sort of cross platform and mobile but it didn't work too well and writing a letter and posting it may well have been quicker at times.

I have all my TV Shows on an external drive. Sometimes, when I disconnect and then reconnect the external hard drive to my computer I have to drag and drop the files for them to show in my iTunes library and then Apple TV. However, when I drag and drop the TV shows into iTunes, they somehow always seem to default to the Movies folder, I then have to edit them manually for them to only to show in the TV show folder. how I only get these files to appear in the TV show folder and not the movie one?
