I have a pop3 email account and connecting to it with Mail using pop3. The app connects to the server OK, and I can send email OK. I can receive emails OK but only new emails that come in. Old emails that have come onto the server over the weekend just site there and are ignored by Mail. An outlook pc account connects and download messages no problem. Has anybody had this, is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?
View 3 RepliesRecently bought a new 13" Macbook Pro and really like it. I have one issue however, after setting up my Charter POP email account I can't send email, only receive it. I am positive the settings and password are correct. They are the same as on my PC and iPhone 4. My household also has an older white Macbook using a Charter POP email account running Mac OS X 10.5.8 without any problems.
I was reading something on the Internet where others are having this same issue and it may be due to Mac OS X 10.6.4. Some suggested changing the user name to my email address, but that didn't fix the issue for me.
I've read around the forums a bit and found some discussion on connectivity for sending / receiving emails via Outlook. Is it true that POP3 support is not going to happen with Outloook for Mac 2011? I have been testing the software and am able to recieve emails from my Godaddy POP3 but can not send anything out.
Is there an email/calendar/notes client out there that is close to Outlooks functionality? I am a nub as this is my first Mac and would really like to know what else is out there that is comparable and combines the features mentioned earlier. So far I love the OS and the speed...My custom built PC has shut down for the last time.
Is there anyway for me to get pop3 access to my Yahoo account without the need to pay for the yahoo plus service? I would preferably like a free solution as I only use my Yahoo account for personal use.

I have found a program called YPOPS, but cannot find a mac version downlaod. Also, i have read on a website that I am unable to send email using this software as it does not support SMTP ....
Is it possible to configure my mail with Gmail's pop3 and just to send mails from that account, not to receive any mails?

I have set my own Hotmail account to work in Mail with no problem, but with Yahoo, when I enter the usual POP3 server info, it just rejects it. Will it make any difference that we are using a.uk Yahoo address instead of a .com one? Or is it impossible to set up a Yahoo email account in Mail on a Mac?

I know I can do this manually by Right-clicking on Inbox -> Get Account Info -> Messages On Server, and then removing them manually, but is there anyway that this can be done automatically (say ... every time a message is removed or every time the Mail app is closed)?

I took the Gmail account offline in mail after the first 1000 messages or so. I went through all the Preferences options and menu option, but maybe I missed that setting.

Open With [choose...] or Save file?In Safari, it just automatically downloads the picture to the default download location and then auto opens it with Preview.This is so annoying! On exactly the same server.Is this possible in any way...? Pardon the screen name, new convert with mail issues. I cannot get my POP3 email to receive through Apple's mail client. Settings are correct and I can send a-ok; just not receive. And to make matters more screwy for me, I can get Entourage to work ok; just prefer Mail.

Also, I decided to try the mail.app and it will not connect to either of my email servers (which are fine, setup just fine on other computers). Also, I tried thunderbird thinking it was a mail.app problem, but won't work there either. I thought perhaps I needed to check my airport extreme, but the utility app can not find it? Something surely is odd. I do have little snitch installed, but looks to be OK, but perhaps I'm missing a setting. Leopard 10.5.8.

I see that one can 'export' a mailbox, but I am not sure that does what I want, which is to take old messages from the server after a certain date (1.1.2012, say), leaving them locally available, but no longer on the server. How is this being addressed by other users?

View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery few minutes, my Mail rejects my Hotmail password and says "The Hotmail POP serverrejected the password for user ______". I looked it up on google and apparently hotmail may be set up to reject passwords or deny POP access if the polling rate is too fast... I'm not sure what's going on. I click "remember password in keychain" every time but it pops up every hour at least.

I can read my incoming email at iCloud.com, and on my iPad, but it no longer flows from iCloud to iMac Mail. There have been no configuration changes on iMac Mail. Apple says "All systems go," but I'm skeptical; I think the incoming mail IMAP server is broken. In Mail "Accounts" the incoming mail server is set to "p02-imap.mail.me.com" and the entry is greyed out so I can't change it to the recommended [URL] Outgoing email works normally in Mail.

I've got it set up so she can send/receive new emails, but I'm trying to figure out away to import all the old emails that she's already read? And maybe contacts too? Going back and entering them in one at a time would be kind of a pain.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since SL was installed, Time Machine restores pop3 emails into my inbox. So, about twice a week I get about 300 emails restored, emails that I do NOT want.They have been filed away, replied to. What makes it difficult is that I have to trawl through what was restored and what was not read/replied to/filed away.
As a test, I turned off Time Machine for 2 weeks, problem solved. Obviously, I don't want TM turned off.
I then deleted my pop3 email accounts and re-created them with different names. Problem re-appeared. Apple do not have a solution, I tried.
I have 4 pop3 accounts and 2 .me accounts. The .me accounts are not affected, only the pop3 ones.
What is the process of switching my account settings from POP3 to IMAP?
I have searched the internet for answers but I am unsure as most of the articles seem out of date?

I am wanting my emails that are read/deleted on my mail.app to be read/deleted on my iOS devices.
I just recently bought a mackbook pro, and i am using entourage for my email apllication, and when an email comes through with pictures in it, for an example when i get an email from cnet, it always wants me to click the download pictures to show the pictures in the email. When I used microsoft outlook for windows there was a setting to automaticlly download pictures in an email. i was just wondering if there was away to do that for Entourage. Macs, and mac software are a new thing for me, and i dont know alot about them yet.

I received an e-mail with an audio recording from my yoga teacher. On my PC I was able to click on the "address" and download it directly to my docs.
But I'd like to have it on my Mac Air notebook so I can have it with me when I travel.Â
However, when I click on the "address" to download it takes me to a dropbox sign-up page. I'd rather not sign up with dropbox.
