I want to set my OH's Mail program to access her yahoo mail account, but it doesn't seem to want to play. I have set my own Hotmail account to work in Mail with no problem, but with Yahoo, when I enter the usual POP3 server info, it just rejects it. Will it make any difference that we are using a.uk Yahoo address instead of a .com one? Or is it impossible to set up a Yahoo email account in Mail on a Mac?

I want to "sync" my yahoo account with the inbox in my Mail app. Basically, when I delete a message in Mail, I want it to automatically delete on the Yahoo server as well. I know I can do this manually by Right-clicking on Inbox -> Get Account Info -> Messages On Server, and then removing them manually, but is there anyway that this can be done automatically (say ... every time a message is removed or every time the Mail app is closed)?

However, every time I try and set up the AT&T Yahoo! mail account in the OS X Mail.app program, it sets it up as a POP account. Can I not have that set up as an IMAP account in Mail.app too!? If not, why?

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery few minutes, my Mail rejects my Hotmail password and says "The Hotmail POP serverrejected the password for user ______". I looked it up on google and apparently hotmail may be set up to reject passwords or deny POP access if the polling rate is too fast... I'm not sure what's going on. I click "remember password in keychain" every time but it pops up every hour at least.

I just got a new MacBook Air and I went to set up my Mail just as I had on my old Mac Mini. I have a Yahoo account that I have paid for the Plus! features. I should be able to just have it automatically find the settings and then I should just be able to get email, right? Wrong. I thought maybe it was because I was also getting the mail popped onto my Blackberry but even when I turn it off, I still can't get a single Yahoo email. I've had this email address forever and don't want to change, and don't want to have to forward messages.

I thought I had set it up properly; emails appear in my 'Mail' inbox but I am unable to send anything - every time I try, the app requests me to enter my yahoo username and password. I do but it tells me they are incorrect. If the details are incorrect why do they work when I log in to yahoo with a browser? I read somewhere that you have to have a payed for yahoo account to get proper access to it's service. If this is the case it sure isn't obvious, unless I have just been looking in all the wrong places. I am also having trouble importing my yahoo contacts to the mac Address Book app.

The only option is to choose an iCloud account. There is none of the normal options like Exchange, Google, Yahoo, AOL, or Other.

I want to set it up similar to a hosting account through someone like godaddy. Where I can log in using FTP or something else. Do I need to install Mac OS X server? When I access a new message on computer 1 or 2, it marks it read on that computer, and then marks it read on the other 1 or 2 computer, but it never marks it read on the mac 3. If I access a new message on mac 3, it DOES mark it read on all macs. Is there a setting I have missed with mac 3?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a pop3 email account and connecting to it with Mail using pop3. The app connects to the server OK, and I can send email OK. I can receive emails OK but only new emails that come in. Old emails that have come onto the server over the weekend just site there and are ignored by Mail. An outlook pc account connects and download messages no problem. Has anybody had this, is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?
