View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to find a solution to this for ages, with no success. I'm not even sure it's possible, but I thought I'd continue to try. What I want to do is change the language setting in Pages permanently. I've had answers telling me about the language setting, and International Input menus and so on, but I'm familiar with changing the language setting, as I write a lot of documents in French and in German, but I write more in English, so what I want is to be able to permanently change the setting so that every time I open a new document, the language is set to British English.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to have it so that whenever I take a screenshot it would go to a folder of my choice. But I have recently put a new hard drive in my MacBook and thus have a new Leopard install and do not remember how I originally set this up because it was such a long time ago.
Does anyone know what Terminal command or something that will let me make my screenshots go to something like User/Tyler/Pictures/Screenshots?
Does anyone know if there is a way to change the default email editor that launches when you click on an email link in Safari? I'd like for it to launch Gmail in a new window rather than launch Apple's Mail.

Okay, so we were forced to upgrade to Office 2008 so we could use the new Entourage, but we still want to use Word 2004 as our default for opening .doc documents.
You can go into the Get Info window all day long, set it and CHANGE ALL, but it doesn't work. Have tried this on various Macs, we're mostly still running Leopard, a few on Snow Leopard.
In Pages, you can change the default language to British English in the Inspector --> Text --> "More" tab --> Language: British English.
However, this reverts somehow in every launch of Pages. How do I set British English as the default language so that vocabulary checks are done according to British English?

I've tried to go in System pref- International and change the language order but it still doesn't work.
I open my pages or text edit and I want to write in Spanish. So i switch my lang to Spanish (default system lang is English). But when I visit Safari or Firefox, I want the language to automatically switch in English. I sometimes forget to do this manually and it gets annoying, especially when you start writing in spanish and after some minutes you realize you were actually writing English.
Is there a way to automatically switch between 2 languages, for the internet and for text editors?

If I moved to a country like China Japan or Russia I'd really be in trouble ...
I am bilingual, and use two languages on my Mac - English as default, and Russian as secondary. After the update to 10.7.4. every time I log back in (have a password on my Mac Pro), all the programs have Russian language. For example, I open a Chrome window to start typing in the web address, and it writes in Russian language. I cannot remove Russian language, as I use it as much as English language. But I would like to have English as default like I am used to. I have checked in the Preferences, everything is as it used to be, primary English, and secondary Russian. But the problem persists even after the reboot, changes in the Preferences.
It is not hard to switch between the languages, it is just annoying to expect the machine run in English, and then see the other language, and switch.
P.S. Besides, the English language icon is became more dull after the update. Not that I complain, just want to know if it is normal or there IS the problem with languages on my Mac.
