Jan 10, 2010Is there a way to 'bulk' add new words to the InDesign dictionary? I do a lot of menus and a lot of the food terms come up as spelling mistakes.
I was wondering if there was a quicker way to customize the dictionary than telling the spell check to learn the words as I go. EG add one huge text file to the dictionary with all the words or something.

Feb 14, 2012I mean this: [URL]. One of the greatest features of Lion I like is the pop-up dictionary. Since I am not a native English speaker, I use this feature a lot, and it is very convenient. But the only thing that bugs me is that I cannot find any way to customise it. The black text on the translucent gray background makes it difficult to read depending on the background of the application. I want to change the background colour and the opacity.The text is too small. It does not change with the text size of the application. I want to enlarge the text size. Is there any way to achieve this or is this another example of Apple's infamous use-it-as-it-is-or-get-lost feature?

Apr 22, 2012I open my pages or text edit and I want to write in Spanish. So i switch my lang to Spanish (default system lang is English). But when I visit Safari or Firefox, I want the language to automatically switch in English. I sometimes forget to do this manually and it gets annoying, especially when you start writing in spanish and after some minutes you realize you were actually writing English.
Is there a way to automatically switch between 2 languages, for the internet and for text editors?Â

Mar 21, 2009It's easy enough creating a template to change the default fonts for pages, but what I can't work out is how to change the default font and font size for footnotes/endnotes. It should be different from the main body in terms of size, but the same font. I found a script on the apple support forums, but 1. it doesn't do what I want it to do and 2. I haven't the foggiest about apple scripts.

Macbook Pro running Mac OSX 10.5.8
(Office 2008) Word, Exel, PowerPoint, (Iwork 2009) Numbers, Pages will not save:.
I tossed the Word Plist file and that did not work.
I have run Virus Barrier X5 and found a about 10 files with Virus 'W97M/Pinky.B' "Quarantened" them and still have the problem.
The problem started -- I think -- when I was doing heavy editing between Numbers and Word. But I don't think it is related (though who knows at this point). Without these programs I'm rendered pretty useless.

Feb 8, 2009So I used the iWork '09 trial for 30 days now and now I have a box version and I want to simply use the buy function from the trial to upgrade to the full non-trial version. It has: Quote: If you've purchased an iWork '09 box, you'll find the serial number on the Installing iWork '09 booklet. There's only one problem, there's no serial number on the booklet! How do I install using the buy function or do I have to install the full iWork suite again on my computer? Seems kind of silly. If so, do I need to then uninstalling one of my versions of iWork '09? And if so, which one? How do I tell the difference at that point?
Some of you might be wondering and about to comment on the fact that I should have just bought the online version and saved the hassle. The reason why I bought the box is because I could get it for $39 at my girlfriend's campus computer store.
Mac Pro :: Slow Beach Ball - Take Ten Second For Dictionary To Come Up After Clicking On Look Up Dictionary
Dec 24, 2009I still get beach balls when doing the basic of things. For example, it sometimes takes 10 seconds for the dictionary to come up after right clicking a word and selecting "look up dictionary". Then again, sometimes it is instant. Similar things happen when looking at a document that is a .pdf, for example, and I want to save as a jpeg. Whether I go to "save as" or through the "print" and then selecting "save as a pdf", it can beach ball for 8-10 seconds.
I thought it may have been a ram problem and from another thread I discovered the "activity monitor" and have that running constantly in the dock showing me "System Memory" and for the stuff I'm doing, it hardly ever gets close to half the pie chart.

I do not really need something with definitions, I just need something that can handle my spell checking for my weekly papers that I need to hand in.
I realize that this is probably not the best place to ask, but the people who I asked in my class including my instructor said that I am pretty much out of luck unless I just want to search each one through a website.
What I would love is if there is something that would work with Pages, but I will live with Word if one exists.
