I live in NL but my first language is English, sure I'm learning Dutch and use it where I can but at home I prefer not to work so hard at understanding everything. Is it possible to live in one place but pick a language you prefer?
If I moved to a country like China Japan or Russia I'd really be in trouble ...
I've been trying to find a solution to this for ages, with no success. I'm not even sure it's possible, but I thought I'd continue to try. What I want to do is change the language setting in Pages permanently. I've had answers telling me about the language setting, and International Input menus and so on, but I'm familiar with changing the language setting, as I write a lot of documents in French and in German, but I write more in English, so what I want is to be able to permanently change the setting so that every time I open a new document, the language is set to British English.

I cant read Chinese so i asked him to change it to English, which he did.He also left a lot of his personal information on here, which is not wise, but i am a nice guy and attempted to do a system restore. The whole restore menues were in Chinese but i managed to guess my way through it and now it seems to be doing a restore. I know the language can be changed once in the OS, however how do i do this for the restore partition?

I am a recent Mac switcher and am using Pages as my word processing software. After being a long-time Microsoft Word user, I have grown accustomed to the default font of Times New Roman, and I would prefer to continue using that for Pages as well. I know that it is as simple as changing the font, but I was wondering if there was a way to change the default font in Pages to Times New Roman just to save the hassle.

Under Language & Text there are 4 tabs:
Language
Text
Formats
Input Sources
I have added a language under the first tab, Language, only to find that there is no correspondingly supported input option under the fourth tab, Input Sources.
I would now like to remove the entry I added under the first tab, Langauge, but cannot figure out how to do this. I have tried highlighting and pressing delete, dragging it out of the window, etc., but so far nothing works.
I was wodnerign why when i change the display language, it only changes partly?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am bilingual, and use two languages on my Mac - English as default, and Russian as secondary. After the update to 10.7.4. every time I log back in (have a password on my Mac Pro), all the programs have Russian language. For example, I open a Chrome window to start typing in the web address, and it writes in Russian language. I cannot remove Russian language, as I use it as much as English language. But I would like to have English as default like I am used to. I have checked in the Preferences, everything is as it used to be, primary English, and secondary Russian. But the problem persists even after the reboot, changes in the Preferences.
It is not hard to switch between the languages, it is just annoying to expect the machine run in English, and then see the other language, and switch.
P.S. Besides, the English language icon is became more dull after the update. Not that I complain, just want to know if it is normal or there IS the problem with languages on my Mac.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI open my pages or text edit and I want to write in Spanish. So i switch my lang to Spanish (default system lang is English). But when I visit Safari or Firefox, I want the language to automatically switch in English. I sometimes forget to do this manually and it gets annoying, especially when you start writing in spanish and after some minutes you realize you were actually writing English.
Is there a way to automatically switch between 2 languages, for the internet and for text editors?

View 2 Replies View Relatedyou would be kind enough to perform the following test and tell me what result you get (it should take five minutes)?
1) login to MyInfo page: [URL]
2) select "Contact Prefs" and set "Preferred Language" to a language different from your country default language
3) Logout (very important)
4) starts iTunes, go in the iTunes Store and connect to view your account (click on your AppleID in the top right corner)
5) select "Edit Payment Information"
6) change nothing, just press Done twice to go back to the iTunes Store
7) login to MyInfo page again:[URL]
8) check if Contact Prefs->Preferred Language was set to your country default
9) come back to this thread and report the result (with your country)
In my case (from Switzerland iTunes Store) my Preferred Language is reset to German each time and it is quite annoying. I've tried to report this to the iTunes Support, but their answer was something like: "we need to test your account." And after having done that:we're happy to tell you that your preferred language is now set to English." Not very useful as you can see.
I want every app to "remember" its current language input. And I don't mean that it should remeber it on osx boot, but after I open it and switch language input.
