I just upgraded Office to 2011 (not the beta).
How do I resend and redirect emails? The option are no longer there.
If I enable sync services it says it will merge my calendars and address book. I want to overwrite my Outlook data with ical and address book data but the option doesn't seem to be there. How do I ensure that I don't end up with duplicates?
I'm having trouble with people at my workplace spending too much time on non-work related websites (MySpace, YouTube, etc...). Ideally, I'd like to be able to do the following, but of course, this is a Mac. I would need it to work for both Safari and Firefox
code:Prank your friends by redirecting there favourite site into something there not expecting! NOTE: Heres the written tutorial because i forogot to put audio onto the video... ;( Written Tutorial: STEP 1. Find a website that your friend would NOT like to go to... STEP 2. Go to the site:
[URL] STEP 3. Type in the URL you would like to direct in the "Enter a host name for Forward DNS Lookup:" box STEP 4. Press look it up, and copy the IP address down. STEP 5. Click on "Start" ---> "Run" and type in "notepad cwindowssystem32driversetchosts" STEP 6. On the last line paste the ip address, press tab and type in the URL your friend will visit STEP 7. Save and test Once he goes to the website he wishes, it will redirect into the website you set it to Hope this prank goes well!
Failing that, is there a simple way of just blocking websites from the OS and only allowing administrator access to bypass these?
When using some national sites I click on discussion link. Safari then notes there are "Too many Redirects and cannot open link"

I have a very unusual problem on my mac notebook, which I have great difficulty finding a cause for.
I like to checkout the website www.guardian.co.uk on a regular basis. When I type the URL (correctly) or click a link, sometimes I'm redirected to a completely different site. The URL address bar still shows www.guardian.co.uk, but I might be looking at the www.google.ca homepage instead. A couple of other weird observations: Happens in both Safari and Chrome browsers Happens not only on www.guardian.co.uk, but also other sites as well (but more rarely). No obvious trigger. Site can be working one second, then I'm redirected the next second. May resolve itself before I reboot. Sometimes rebooting does not resolve the problem. My PC is on the same network. This problem does not occur ever. I maybe redirected to other sites other than Google.
I am completely stumped as to the cause of the problem. Anyone willing to step up to the challenge and suggest a solution?
Updated to 10.7.3 recently. When I connect to wireless networks that have a redirect page, the connection itself is successful but a blank osx window pops up with a spinning status indicator that keeps spinning until it fails. The login page never appears. Manually going to any website does not work either.

I discovered a bit of an oddity yesterday.
I did a search on Google for a message board for an NFL team (Baltimore Ravens). The top link on Google was the message board on the official team site. When I clicked on the link, it redirected me to some random shady site. When I tried again, I got through fine. But I then reset Safari (deleting the cookies), tried it again, and the same thing happened. Yahoo provided the same issue.
I do not download anything except for Software Updates (I know about the trojans posing as codecs and pirated software, and have not downloaded anything of the such).
Out of curiosity, I tried Googling the website on a PC with Firefox, and had no problem. I downloaded Safari to that same PC, and the same thing occurred, so this clearly is a browser specific problem. Also of note is that on the PC, the AV detected a trojan about 5 minutes later.
I tried disabling Java, and the Google link wouldn't open the webpage the first time, but I did not get redirected. Typing the address in directly provided no problems.
I am at a loss. Is my system secure? I keep up with all updates (I am currently on 10.5.8, though). Has my system been compromised at all?
When I first set up my mail application on Mac to sync up with my web based mail (hotmail) I did not uncheck the flag NOT to remove the emails from the server. This resulted in all my mails until 2010 (time of Mail setup) to be synched up with Mail app on Mac AND removal of them from the hotmail server. Because of this, they are not accessible through Web interface anymore.
Since hotmail is using POP, I am unable to sync it back from Mail app to the hotmail server. I am trying to redirect all emails from Mail app to my hotmail account, but the redirection changes the from address field. I thought that the difference between Forward and Redirect was the way these functions interpret and act on the From field like:
- Forward function would change the From field to show the current account it is sent from
- Redirect function would keep From field intact in the message, so that my hotmail would see the original From field and not the one of my Mail account server.
It seems that both of these functions work more or less the same in Mail app. Could I get a clarification on it, or at least a solution on how to get my mail back to the hotmail server? I do not want to forward, since all the messages will appear like they were from me, causing a big mess.

I had a 3,5 mm stereo jack in my audio output on my macbook, and it broke inside. Is it possible to redirect the sound output to go through the input jack?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a mac mini and macbook pro.  As you will see, the issues are complex. I spoke to both Apple and my server many times: all determined to help solve the issue as a technical problem, but rather complacent about the strong possibility of new malware. Both ended up basically with 'dunno'.   Needless to say, I backup regularly via time machine. These probs represent the downside!  My workplace techs said one was probably flashback (dealt with as per apple advice), the other like dnschanger - but a new and more invidious version. I'm probably giving away too much information, but it's a bit late to worry about that. Â
Both did different things AT THE SAME TIME, with the same sites. Therefore, it was definitely not a server issue. Both were consistent.I've had odd behaviour: redirect included bypassing my proxy server and going online despite not putting in login details, and after logging in: in both instances, I was taken to Wikipedia front page. Also:Many times, lists of links instead of genuine front pages: Apple and server. Only 'big names' seemed affected. Other times, it looked ok but when I clicked on links I got nothing. I had problems logging on to App store and broadband provider, as well as software sites (2 x legit big apple-oriented companies). After the going online and redirect issue above, I decided to create new apple id and o2 email. I did a secure (as far as it goes) 7-layer wipe of the macbook, and reinstalled.Within a week, I had odd behaviours again. Two examples:
Just wanted to know about the browser that you use on your mac. Is it fast than safari, what are the pros about it, etc.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have the proper setup for the (Tor Bundle) Vidalia Application permitting one to "Hide Their IP Address"?
Under Settings - Advanced, there appear two address blocks. It was my belief that the first block should be the same as my browser address. Apparently that is no the case. In any event, what numbers/character sequences should fill these two fields?
Also, when starting Vidalia, following installation, the Green Onion Icon never appeared, the "Connecting To Tor" progress bar only partially filled. Is this error caused by the first problem?
I'm new to the Mac world, having just acquired a G3 w/OS 8.6. After working on it to get everything running I found that when I run IE 5.1 I only see a small section of the page and I have to do a lot of scrolling up & down, as well as side to side to see the whole page.
I'm well versed in PCs tech-wise so I figured it was just a matter of a setting or something, but I can't find anything to adjust. I thought to go over to Firefox, which I use on my PC, but it needs OS X to run. I tried installing Safari but it wouldn't install either.
Am I just lost in a strange world, or am I flogging a dead horse, as it were?
I have a Lime G3 running OS 8.6 @ 333Mhz w/64Mb of mem. I don't know what version of firmware is there because I don't know where to look for the answer.
I recently became an owner of a Mac Pro but I am having a small problem. I'm not certain how to set up the browsing so when I return to a site it recognizes who I am and does not require inputing the blanks each and every time. I believe it's a browser setup function but it must be looking me straight in the eyes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else notice fonts in Google Chrome don't look as good as they do in other browsers like FF and Safari? They look cramped and unkerned. Am I the only one? It's distracting after coming from FF and preventing me from using it. Though that's not the only reason. I do like the speed of Chrome though.

Is there a way to turn a mac browser into functioning like internet explorer?
I have downloaded Firefox to use occasionaly, only now if someone sends me a link via email OSX.6.1 opens up Firefox as the default browser.
I've been searching through the preferences I can, but can't see where to make Safari default browser.
Does anyone know how this done?
I can upload and view new photos just fine into iPhoto. However, when I use any application that requires opening/inserting/uploading a file (I've tried Firefox, Safari, Flickr Uploadr, Pages etc.) the new events do not appear when clicking on Media > Photos.
This started about two weeks ago but unfortunately I haven't backed up my computer and can't go back in Time Machine.
Please this is not a question about whether you use Safari or Firefox.
What Browser has the smallest memory footprint for use on the MBA?
With limited ram @ 2GB I find either Safari, Firefox, Camino, etc using as much as 200MB +/- in activity monitor. Are there some more obscure browsers that use/need less memory and function just as well or almost as well?
For the longest time i've been using Gmail and also the offline lab feature that allows me to access my gmail via the web browser. Rather than me going into a big explaining here i'll just mention i'm befuddled on whether to stick with Gmail's offline use or switch things up to Apple's Mail; reason in doing so is i've recently been noticing how some apps like OmniFocus play nice with Apple's Mail. Also having a Gcal account and using it I can't but help and prefer Gcal tenfold over iCal. But Gcal's offline use sucks for me when using Firefox. It's always a gamble when I'm offline and want to check my Gcal, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. I'm not a big fan of iCal but have it always sync'd with Gcal so am currently using iCal...and am thinking about using Mail now. I just feel I enjoy Gmail's search, starring and folder system.
Plus I think I remember that when I include my account in Mail I see it downloading the 3GB's of Mail I have..and even though i'd assume Gmail would do the same, I never see where it goes which rests uneasy with me..
