I want to upload some files to my website. So I am looking for an advanced FTP client software solution designed for ease of use by both novices and professionals. It should be powerful and secure file transfer solution. It should also have total control, security, efficiency, and simplicity. If you people have any idea then please let me know.
I am looking for a more advanced calendaring and to-do app than ical.
Basically, I am a pastor in a church, and I have many things in my calendar.
It is all working for me at the moment, but I would like to massively expand what I do in my calendar and to-dos.
Basically, I want to have an extra calendar item that lists all the sermons and sermon series that have been planned for the year (which I wouldn't want to display them in my normal listing of calendars, as its not as if they are booking me in anymore than normal). I would love then to be able to add to-do items/tasks to calendar events so that each calendar event can act like a bit of a project (so if I am organising a service one week, it would be great to have that service in my calendar, and then have a list of linked to-do's to it).
Does anyone know of anything like this? I hope I have explained myself properly.
I have looked at a lot of the GTD apps, but unfortunately they don't have calendar systems attached (i.e. they only seem to be to-do systems).
I have tried several ftp applications, transmit, yummy etc.
I plan to make an update to my site and I would like to know if there is any mac ftp program which supports several ftp functions like the ones described below:
- Rename all files of the remote hosting server, at once (like _old_site_files_filename). Also exclude the renaming of existing folders.
- Add files to folders that already exist, without overwriting/replacing folders themselves, but just adding the new files inside folders. Keep existing folders without replacing them. Some folders have special permissions attached to them, so it would be a mess to replace them because then I would have to set all permissions from the beginning...
I hope there is a solution for these tasks in a mac os x ftp application.
I'm relatively new to OS X and love it. I've found counterparts to all of my old windows software I rely on except an image editor. I use to love paint.net on windows - I do lots of image editing where I need something more powerful than paint on windows (or paintbrush on os x), but don't want the learning curve and extra features of Photoshop or GIMP. Also, I'd like it to be free if at all possible.
I tried using Quicken for keeping a very basic digital copy of my check register, but I found Quicken's tendency of throwing all sorts of advanced options that I didn't want to use at me kind of unnerving. So, can anyone reccomend a check register-only finance app?
I absolutely love mail on my iPhone. Multiple Exchange accounts is huge. Any idea when mail.app on Snow Leopard will catch up? Seems silly that the mail application on the phone is more technically advanced than on the Mac.
I'm just wondering what the best IRC client for OS X is. I've had a google, and tried out a few (like Colloquy), but nothing has really stood out so far.
I've been using quite happily TightVNC on windows to connect my MP. Now I'm using MBP, so is there any decent VNC client for OsX where you can define zoom by % or slider. Preferably free or cheap. Apple's "Screen sharing" offers only scaling on or off, which are for me either too small or too big.
when I was out trying to set up a development environment on my Mac. (SVN, Bug Tracking, etc.)
It's called Versions, and it's still in beta, but it seems really stable, and it's one of the best SVN clients I've ever used. I have no affiliation with the company or product at all, so this isn't a plug. I've just been using it constantly to manage some Xcode projects and a few other important documents between Macs, and I thought I'd share.
I'm looking for an FTP client that has a versioning system like that of SVN. Is there such an app?For instance, I'd like to be viewing the files to my website in the FTP client and know which files I've made changes to on my local system so I know if I should upload. Does the ftp file server have to be an svn host?
I'm looking for an FTP/SFTP client that won't stop responding when dealing with a folder that has thousands of files. Yummy FTP and Transmit don't handle them very well when you get past 20,000 or so.
So I was using the older CISCO VPN client and now need the CISCO Anyconnect client as well. Anyconnect would not install, it kept telling me that there was already a newer version installed already? So I thought maybe it was the older CISCO VPN client (that I will also need later) so I used APpZapper to remove it. I am still getting that error message when the installer gets to the disk selection screen.
Has anyone seen this before? I have no clue where to go from here.
I've been using Mail.app for my gmail accounts for quite a while now - but it seems that Mail just isn't designed for gmail. For example - when I search for a message, each message will appear two or more times (located in Inbox & All Mail, not inc. any labels), archiving messages isn't exactly easy, and deleting messages doesn't quite.. delete messages.
Is there a way to make Mail.app more friendlier towards Gmail accounts or is there a better client for Mac for Gmail accounts?
I have a shiny new macbook and i need a good software phone that supports either SIP or IAX (prefer both) is reliable and can record calls. It would also be nice if it has support for G729.
So far I've found ZoIPer Business, which will set me back 36GBP($58 USD). I'm a bit wary of purchasing it, as I've used ZoIPer FREE and it seems to crash sometimes (i.e. it wont cleanly exit)
I've also tried X-Lite although this also seems very buggy and havent been able to make a successful call.
Is there something someone can recommend that they've used? or should i shutup and buy ZoIPer & not complain about the price?
Well I have a Mac. Most of my friends have a PC. I need to be able to webcam them ALL at one time together. I sort of need a program like OoVoO but I do not want to pay for a multicam chat. I do not want a website one either. I want one that is downloadable for both MAC AND PC and it needs to support multi webcam at one time. Do not say Skype because i do not like skype. Can somebody find m e one?
This may be...a bit odd...A friend and I like to watch movies together alot. Phone isn't available. Im getting tired of useing IM with a minimized moviescreen. Is there an app ( cross platform would be nice ) that has a built in movie player that also has a built in IM client? is there an add on to Adium for this?
I have tried so many now .... Here is what I want/need:
1) Multiple accounts 2) instapaper/read it later integration with links 3) easy marking of "read" tweets 4) This is the most important: I want to be able to place different people I follow into groups, like I was with seesmic for windows ... for example, I can put some people into a "tech" group and some into a literary" etc ... Why is this so difficult to find?!?!
I interpreted the directions as meaning that I unzip the file in my home directory and tried the make command:
Code:
jdd:~ jasondancks$ make -f Makefile.gtk
make: Makefile.gtk: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `Makefile.gtk'. Stop.
Listen fellas I really don't really know whats going on here I just wanted to download this for easy access to the school server. I'm taking a database class and we use the windows version of this to connect. I'm still going through it all I was just wondering if there is a quick way of doing this.
Would the parts referring to 'classic' mac apply to me?
s there any client available that uploads movies to YouTube.com? I did a google and most of youtube client are interface to watch movies and not upload movies.
I'm looking for an RSS client for Leopard that will sync with Google Reader (Google Reader is the only was I can view my feeds at work) Does such a thing exist? (I'm new to Macs, I just switched after 15 years of Windows use, and I'm not regretting it at all!)
I am looking for a ftp client for an old mac os 8.0 machine I have, I managed to find one through google called fetch but after stuffit expander opened the .smi nothing happened and it doesn't appear in applicationsI need to use it to connect to a ftp server I have installed on my windows to copy files across, since my php powered file upload script came into some limitations with large files
