Safari :: Running Slow - Page Scrolling Jerky?
Apr 6, 2012Scrolling pages is jerky. It can't even keep up with my typing speed. When I am done writing a sentence, I wait and watch it type back to me. This list of websites that don't work completely correctly also is growing. These do not happen in Firefox...I hate to abandon Safari and lose all my bookmarks. What can I try to do?

Mar 27, 2008I just installed XP Pro using bootcamp on a separate drive (bay 2) in a brand new mac pro. However, things seem a bit jerky all over- especially when browsing using either firefox or IE 7. I have been trying to figure out whey and can't . It is particularly bad when browsing. its almost unusable.

Jul 17, 2010I had a Unibody Macbook, the newest rev. I decided to upgrade to a 13" MB Pro today at Microcenter for $999. Biggest reason was honestly I hated the white and I decided to not get a iMac but instead pair a 30" HPZR30 to the MB so went with the Pro for aesthetics and small processor bump. I took the Kingston SSD out of my MacBook and put it in the MB Pro, reset the PRAM/NVRAM and it boots right up. Everything works but for some reason the scrolling through a webpage using the pad is a bit jerky. Comparing it to my Macbook which I put the 250gb drive from the MB Pro in its perfectly smooth. I can reload the system if I need to but how is the scrolling on others '10 MB Pro's? I can tell a huge difference in the keyboard, its much more solid on the MB than on the MB Pro, I assume because they left some gap/spacing for the LED back lights.

It also happens on YouTube when I scroll down to view the comments, it is slow when I scroll through where the video is and it speeds up when at the comments.

Jan 23, 2009Don't know whats going on but since about a month it takes about 30+ seconds between the moment i start Firefox and the moment it display my homepage (the browser window appear but stay blank all the time). Once it's started though it's all fine. Safari in comparison starts in a couple of seconds. I have tried vaious firewall settings but it doesn't seems to help. The only plug-in i have installed is Flip4Mac. My computer is the 2.0GHz aluminium MacBook.

May 7, 2009My firefox is all up to date. Within the last few days, firefox has been running very slow for me. Whenever I click or do anything, it takes a while to respond. Very frustrating. This is happening on my iMac. My girlfriend's parents are having the same issue with Firefox in Windows. I am trying to move all my bookmarks to Safari, but when I highlight multiple bookmarks to drag and drop, it only copies one of them. Anyone know how to fix the slowness or the dragging bookmarks??

May 10, 2009past week firefox has been running slow, ill click or try to scroll down ap age and i get a few seconds of the spinning beachball. I have 4 gb of ram, so this kind of slow program shouldnt be happening, the other programs open are ichat and mail.

Nov 19, 2010I'm having an issue scrolling in all programs). Running 10.6.5, Late 2008 MBP (not uni-body). This happens when using two finger scroll or dragging the scroll bar down and up. Click (jump) to scroll is still fine.
It takes about 5-7 seconds to scroll down at all, it's like a little ripple slowly works its way down the screen. I tried shutting down programs, restarting, etc.
EDIT: Ok the click to scroll is now slow also. What gives?

Sep 22, 2007Before I installed the Logitech software, it was perfect. But without the Logitech software, the other buttons didn't work.
After installing the software, I noticed the scrolling to be very very slow in Safari. Even after maxing out scroll speed in system pref. and the logitech soft, it's still slow!

Sep 18, 2009I was just looking at a long PDF file in preview and got off the computer for a bit. When I come back, the scrolling for some reason got extremely slow! I don't know what the heck happened. I have scrolling on the highest in system preferences and nothing helped. It takes very long just to get through a page. I know I could just use hyper scrolling, but it is still slow and only fast if I spin it all the way, which then goes all the way to the bottom of the page. What could be wrong?

Jul 7, 2010I'm running FF 3.6.6 on a MacBook Pro (new 2010) OS 10.6.4 and Firefox has been acting really slow and the death wheel comes up A LOT. I just re-installed snow leopard onto my MBP because flash was sluggish but just found out that it was FF all along. Whenever I go to right click or go to the menu, the death wheel comes on. When viewing flash videos, the video stops but audio continues for about 3sec then the video catches up. This happens every time. Is this just me or are there other people that are having the same experience? I'm not running anything else on the computer and it acts the same way.

Sep 9, 2009Since upgrading to Snow Leopard (SL). I have noticed a painfully slow access to sites when using Firefox and Safari. Pages used to load almost instantaneous with Leopard. Now when using either Firefox or Safari on SL, It's taking an average of 8-10 seconds to load a page in my web browser. Feels like I'm on dialup. I have the fastest internet service you can get (Roadrunner Turbo Plus), but for some unknown reason my internet page access is painfully slow. I'm really thinking of using Time Machine to set my Mac back to Leopard, but I really don't want too. I figured I'd wait a few days to see if this problem surfaces, and perhaps a solution can be found.

May 28, 2009I generated a full HD 1920x1080 mp4 video file and tried.playing it back using Quicktime. The playback was very jerky.The same file played beautifully using VLC. So I don't think.it is cpu horsepower issue. playing back mp4 HD materials using Quicktime? Any ideas?
