View 3 RepliesSafari has been running slow for me lately. There is no problem with my internet connection. I have firefox too and it works blazing fast. So, why does safari run really slow?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a home office. Using three Macs (two wired, one wireless), and 2 PC laptops (wired). Also have VMWare Fusion with Windows Vista loaded on the Mac. All the PC internet connections (including VMWare) internet works fine and decent/good speed. The Mac is painfully slow, using both Safari and Firefox. Currently I cannot even access some websites, such as Google which comes back as unable to access. I tried OpenDNS - no change. Tried turning of IPv6 - no change.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to Snow Leopard (SL). I have noticed a painfully slow access to sites when using Firefox and Safari. Pages used to load almost instantaneous with Leopard. Now when using either Firefox or Safari on SL, It's taking an average of 8-10 seconds to load a page in my web browser. Feels like I'm on dialup. I have the fastest internet service you can get (Roadrunner Turbo Plus), but for some unknown reason my internet page access is painfully slow. I'm really thinking of using Time Machine to set my Mac back to Leopard, but I really don't want too. I figured I'd wait a few days to see if this problem surfaces, and perhaps a solution can be found.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had my MBP for about a year and recently I noticed that when I open Safari or Firefox it takes FOREVER to load a page.Even a small page like Google! I tried a reset for both browsers but that didn't help.I did some maintenance but no help there either.
This is my first Mac so I wanted to ask if I'm missing something.. should I be doing something maintenance-like that I'm not?
i know safari is default cuz its apple and all.. but what do you guys have as a separate option:
Google Chrome
Firefox 3.5
Firefox 4 Beta
Opera
Just safari
just curious.. wanting to put a browser but not too sure. (on my desktop PC, i have firefox 4), but i would like to know
I'm running FF 3.6.6 on a MacBook Pro (new 2010) OS 10.6.4 and Firefox has been acting really slow and the death wheel comes up A LOT. I just re-installed snow leopard onto my MBP because flash was sluggish but just found out that it was FF all along. Whenever I go to right click or go to the menu, the death wheel comes on. When viewing flash videos, the video stops but audio continues for about 3sec then the video catches up. This happens every time. Is this just me or are there other people that are having the same experience? I'm not running anything else on the computer and it acts the same way.
View 4 Replies View Relatednot sure whats going on, when im browsing on firefox its goes really really slow, been doing it since thursday. any idea what i can do to figure out whats going on?
View 16 Replies View RelatedCan I use both Safari and Firefox simultaneously? I like Safari but my online banking requires Firefox.

Don't know whats going on but since about a month it takes about 30+ seconds between the moment i start Firefox and the moment it display my homepage (the browser window appear but stay blank all the time). Once it's started though it's all fine. Safari in comparison starts in a couple of seconds. I have tried vaious firewall settings but it doesn't seems to help. The only plug-in i have installed is Flip4Mac. My computer is the 2.0GHz aluminium MacBook.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy firefox is all up to date. Within the last few days, firefox has been running very slow for me. Whenever I click or do anything, it takes a while to respond. Very frustrating. This is happening on my iMac. My girlfriend's parents are having the same issue with Firefox in Windows. I am trying to move all my bookmarks to Safari, but when I highlight multiple bookmarks to drag and drop, it only copies one of them. Anyone know how to fix the slowness or the dragging bookmarks??
View 7 Replies View Relatedpast week firefox has been running slow, ill click or try to scroll down ap age and i get a few seconds of the spinning beachball. I have 4 gb of ram, so this kind of slow program shouldnt be happening, the other programs open are ichat and mail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI love firefox, but it is so slow. Slow in everything, loading, typing, posting. I finally went to Safari which is better but I love firefox and hate to give it up. I have done searches, it appears to be a problem, but most of the fixes are either over my head or for a pc. My computer is not the fastest but Firefox is unbearable. View 11 Replies View RelatedI saw a thread the other day that alluded that Chrome or FF were memory hogs vs Safari. I have FF on my iMac and like it fairly well, my wife really prefers it. I have not installed it on my MBA because of the comments that I read the other day. It seemed like someone also posted Chrome was almost or as bad. There have been some spirited threads on how to keep our Airs running at top efficiency, going both easy on the RAM and on the battery life. The general consensus amongst members is Flash with a Flash filter plugin such as ClickToFlash battery life. If a browser is a memory hog will it also hasten the battery's discharge or just sap your RAM? Or would the user never really notice the difference unless they were tunnel visioned on their system monitor whilst surfing the web?
View 23 Replies View RelatedThe HD crashed about 2 years ago, and since the replacement (TOSHIBA MK6034GSX 60GB) the CPU will go very hot 80+C and the fan going to 6200rpm if visiting some internet pages. Normally a problem if (when) the kids are playing free online games or visiting youtube or similar. Made a screenshot, notice CPU usage around 112%, smartfan showing 70C and 6200rpm. I have taken the mac physically apart and cleaned the cooling duct and applyed new thermal paste. Didn't help. It drives me crazy, I hate noisy computers.

Can I use Safari as my main web browser and Firefox when Safari isn't supported?

So often, when I'm working with Firefox or Safari (mostly Firefox), my computer will come seconds away from crashing. It'll pause with the rainbow wheel twirling around, but if I have something like even Skype open or photoshop, I can still work in those. I've had to close Firefox a FEW times, at LEAST, in the last little while because of this.
Why is Firefox acting so WEIRD?! I've even uninstalled it and installed a new version! Why isn't it getting fixed? Is there a better program that won't do this on my brand new laptop with Leopard 10.5 OSX?
I currently own a late 2008 15 inch macbook pro. It's my first Mac, and I'm very satisfied with it.
I recently downloaded Safari 5 and have been less than impressed. I find the performance extremely sporadic: sometimes very fast, sometimes painfully slow. I have also lost Youtube and Justintv functionality, and since I take online courses the video sites are imperative for me.
I've re-loaded Firefox and also Chrome, and over the last three days seem to be leaning towards Chrome for its balance of speed and overall functionality.
It keeps saying missing plug in when I open PDF from internet, what can i do to fix that?

I began to have this same problem on my old MacBook within the last year...but I now have a brand spanking new MacBook Air (as in 1 week old) and it's worse than ever. Â
Extremely often - sometimes 2 out of 3 webpages, it seems - the browzer says it can't find the server or otherwise won't open a page (takes veeeery long to do so. Then eventually gives me a "can't find" screen when I try to click around.). There's nothing wrong w the internet - it works just fine on my husband's computer. Sometimes it helps to switch browzers but mostly not.

So basically when I'm on an article or website ESPECIALLY AMAZON.COM (I use Amazon almost everyday) the annoying blue hyperlinks show up and when I scroll past them the show ads. How do I get rid of them??? Also, on Amazon.com on Firefox mainly, some type of malware changes the layout of Amazon to black and orange and puts boxes around everything!!! 1. Incredibly flaky wireless. Safari won't even use WiFi correctly, Firefox works 90% of the time, but sometimes it just kicks my WiFi off. Same with Windows XP in VMWare.3. Above all, I'll be in the middle of doing a project, AND IT WILL DEMAND I TURN IT OFF? Why!? Why would I want to turn it off? It makes me for god's sakes, and I lose whatever I was doing. See the picture attached below, it's happened half a dozen time in five days, and no way to stop it.
View 24 Replies View RelatedIt started about a week ago. I dunno if it's a problem with Flash or what. But any time I try to open a video on sites such as gizmodo, engadget, youtube, or full episodes from like [URL]. whichever browser I attempt to open it with just completely crashes. This has been getting worse and worse and now it literally happens 100% of the time.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both browsers multiple times to no avail. I am REALLY dreading reinstalling my entire OS. Is there a way I can completely eliminate flash from my computer? Then I can manually download it from Adobe directly and see if that works.
So, I just did the update last night, and I think after that my internet stopped working. It was late, so I just went to sleep. This morning, I wake up and open Firefox. Internet not working. Even though I know it won't work, I open my remote desktop connection and try to log on to my work computer using the WiFi in my apartment. Well, for some reason that worked. I am typing this message right now through a remote connection, but using the same WiFi that firefox and safari tell me that is no internet connections when I try to open it up from my computer.
To make it even weirder, I opened quicken on my computer here and tried to download transactions, and not only did it download them, but it took me to the actual bank site and I could navigate all over it. But when I tried to go to a different website, it did the exact same thing and stalled out again. How can I use this internet connection to log on remotely and use the internet remotely, but on local programs, it tells me I have no internet connection?
