I am watching a TV show that is running on my computer but projected onto my TV through Apple TV. The image on my computer is fine but it is jerky on the TV, often freezing and the sound goes in and out. How do I get a smooth image and sound on my TV?

I've had my trusty aluminum MacBook for around 18 months and recently I've noticed that the trackpad is sometimes unresponsive, it's as if it's registering another press elsewhere. Moving the cursor across the screen it 'jumps' around from time to time, this is becoming more and more of an irritation. I'm loathed to take the machine in as I really need it for work at the moment.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had a Unibody Macbook, the newest rev. I decided to upgrade to a 13" MB Pro today at Microcenter for $999. Biggest reason was honestly I hated the white and I decided to not get a iMac but instead pair a 30" HPZR30 to the MB so went with the Pro for aesthetics and small processor bump. I took the Kingston SSD out of my MacBook and put it in the MB Pro, reset the PRAM/NVRAM and it boots right up. Everything works but for some reason the scrolling through a webpage using the pad is a bit jerky. Comparing it to my Macbook which I put the 250gb drive from the MB Pro in its perfectly smooth. I can reload the system if I need to but how is the scrolling on others '10 MB Pro's? I can tell a huge difference in the keyboard, its much more solid on the MB than on the MB Pro, I assume because they left some gap/spacing for the LED back lights.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI generated a full HD 1920x1080 mp4 video file and tried.playing it back using Quicktime. The playback was very jerky.The same file played beautifully using VLC. So I don't think.it is cpu horsepower issue. playing back mp4 HD materials using Quicktime? Any ideas?

Have tried both quicktime and vlc, put video playback seems to be jerky on any panning shots on videos.

I just installed XP Pro using bootcamp on a separate drive (bay 2) in a brand new mac pro. However, things seem a bit jerky all over- especially when browsing using either firefox or IE 7. I have been trying to figure out whey and can't . It is particularly bad when browsing. its almost unusable.

I purchased a Bose wifi speaker. When I leave work and come back I cannot select my speaker using AirPlay. I see my speaker name available for AirPlay output, however, every time I select the speaker it automatically goes back to my built-in speakers. I have to restart my system in order to select the external speaker for AirPlay.

So if I move my mouse across the screen, it lags behind and appears a little jerky/erratic. Whenever (usually) I do something which causes a high CPU load, my mouse cursor movement because extremely jerky. For some reason, even ejecting my USB hard drive (which takes about 20 seconds from when I tell it to eject to when it actually removes itself from my Desktop) causes my cursor to start going jerky.
I am new to Macs (the MBA will be my first) and I was wondering if it was possible to stream video from my new MBA (OS X) through iTunes via airplay to an Apple TV and what I would need to do this. When I search all I find is how you will be able to stream through iOS 4.2 and there is not much on OS X.

I wanted to watch a DVD on the TV rather than the Macbook. I have an external DVD drive and insert the disc - it plays OK on the Macbook. I have tried then play it on the TV via the Apple TV using airplay but the screen just goes grey. I have used airplay to play a film.

I have a macbook pro and iphone4, so I bought a Denon Ceol RCD N-7 that supports airplay. The system requires, that I upgrade the software on the receiver, which I have done. And I can confirm on the receiver, that I have installed the airplay on the unit. When I go to iTunes on the macbook pro, then I get the option to use the Denon Ceol as speakers for iTunes, so the airplay should work. However neither the macbook or the iphone can connect to the unit, meaning there is not any sound coming out of the receiver or any indication on the receiver, that it is connecting to the airplay.I have also checked for the receiver to be able to connect to the same wireless network as the iphone and macbook - which it does. And the internet radio is working on the receiver, so the internet connection is fine.iTunes is 10.5.1, so that is also fine. How can I indentify the problem or do any of you know how to fix the problem?

On my laptop, the Airplay refuses to ave sound. First it was just with some web content, now it's all sound.Â
Menu Bar -> Airplay -> Mirroring On
Result:Â Flawless video, no sound.Â
System Preferences -> Sound -> Output -> Apple TV
Result: Selection pops to the last item, Airplay stops displaying on TV. (Airplay on the mac thinks it's still working, but the Apple TV stops displaying.)Â
Rebooting doesn't work, pretty much nothing seems to have an effect.Â

I have got a macbook pro and an iPhone5 .. my macbook and my iPhone connected to the same WiFi but for some reason the airplay don't work .. so I tried to use a (cable) goes from the router to the macbook .. and i turned on (sharing internet) so my macbook can become a WiFi .. from that my iPhone is connected to the WiFi (macbook pro WiFi) and the airplay was working fine .. the thing is i don't like the cable idea because my router on the first floor and my macbook on the second floor.. so any one have any tips for me .. by the way i need the airplay because i was streaming using (Reflector)

I recently switched routers. I've been able to configure the router to join my wireless network. I know it has joined because the light changes from green to amber when the router reboots. When I was configuring, I checked the Enable Airplay checkbox and gave the Airport Express a name and password. I start up iTunes and there is no Airplay icon in the lower right like there used to be with the old router. What am I missing about enabling Airplay? Is there an Airplay app I'm missing that would allow me to find the Airport Express with Airplay?

I have been using Airplay and an Airport Express to stream iTunes to my Harman Kardon speakers for the last 3 years. This morning I find that the volume sliders are missing for my Hi-fi AE in the 'select multiple speakers' window and I cannot select them.
The AE has a green light and shows up fine in Airport Utility. Repairing permissions and restarting has not helped. It was working fine last night when I shut my iMac down, and nothing has changed!

I bought a Mac Pro 13' Retina Display two weeks ago and today i bought a Bose SoundTouch 20 and i connected both to my home network by ethernet cord. when i try to use applications like iTunes to send the sound of a song from mac to bose it work perfect, but when i try to do the same with spottily (i downloaded the app for my mac) simply doesn't work and don't know why. Another issue is that either can't send the sound of the movies and videos from mac to bose (i already try this using this configuration: send by airplay the movie to apple tv and from apple tv send the sound to bose, all work perfect because all was connected with ethernet cord).Â
So the question is, why the Airplay function only work with iTunes and with other applications simply doesn't?
Safari used to let me drag an image from a webpage to the finder and have the dragged file be saved as an actual image but now all that's saved is a webloc file. I want the image saved, not a reference to the image's URL - do I now have to always use "save as" to save it?Â
I can understand Safari creating a webloc file if I dragged the site icon from the location bar to the finder, but to make the default behavior for dragging things that are parts of a page (not the page itself) as webloc files seems like a HUGE step backwards for usability.Â
Does anyone know if there's, say, a key to hold when dragging to avoid saving a webloc file or a defaults command or something to make Safari revert back to sane draging behavior?

When a user copies an image from a browser into PowerPoint 2011 he gets text of a link back to the image, not the image itself. But if he copies from a browser into Word he gets the image, and can then copy the image from Word to PowerPoint. Same results with both Firefox and Safari. Behavior is new so I assume it relates to recent software updates but user does not recall accepting any.

I'm not sure if this should be in the iPod forum, the Mac Apps forum (I can't believe there isn't an iTunes forum), or the MacRumors forum. Subject: Airplay. Went to the local Apple Store yesterday for a One-to-One appointment. I asked one of the associates if any of the dozen speakers they have on display were AirPlay compatible. He looked at me like I was crazy. After refreshing his memory on the topic briefly, he said that no, it was too new and suggested I add an Airport Express to my system to achieve my desired results (to stream music to speakers in my house). Question: Will AirPlay negate the need for an Airport Express? I'm expecting that very soon AirPlay compatible speaker(s) will come to market which will handle wirelessly all the necessary work to stream music from my iDevices to the speakers. Am I understanding AirPlay and its potential correctly?
