I'd like to change the Safari default favicon: I already looked through the Resources folder and used F-Script to see if I could find anything, but I was not succesfull. Is there any way to customize this icon?
View 1 RepliesA co-worker (who isn't English speaking) would like to change Safari so that when he enters a site name into the address bar (for example "ford") that Safari doesn't automatically add ".com" to the address. Instead he wants the browser to use ".ch" (Switzerland) as the default autocomplete in the address line. Anyone know how we can change that (maybe in Terminal)..?

In Adobe reader->Preferences->internet Display PDF in browser using Adobe Reader (9.3.1) is checked and beyond this I'm not sure what to do to change from preview to reader.
I have searched high and low for an answer to this! My website's icon shows in every other browser except for Safari.
I have "reset" Safari, tried a variety of different "paths" to my favicon.ico in my header.php file, blah blah blah and NOTHING works!
Since I installed Firefox 12, I can't change my default browser preferences in Safari. Safari defaults to Firefox 12 no matter what browser I select. Anyone else having this problem? Mac OS 10.7.3, Safari 5.1.5 & Firefox 12.

How does one change the default spelling dictionary for Safari on Windows? For the Mac, it changes in response to the default locale, but on Windows, it just sets to American English and you cannot change it anywhere I can see. All my locale information in Windows is set to UK English.In fact on some websites, like this one, the spelling checker seems to be disabled! I'm on Windows 7 64-bit, BTW, running Safari 5.1.7?

Then when I tried to play the music, it couldn't find it. so I went into prefrences, and changed the target folder to the new one. But when I changed it, it still couldnt find the music. I went back into prefrences, and it was still at the old folder! Is there an apply button or something I have to push?

Is there a hidden preferences file that has that set to "on"? Or a CSS file in the package where that can be set to "false"? What I want to do is change the language setting in Pages permanently. I've had answers telling me about the language setting, and International Input menus and so on, but I'm familiar with changing the language setting, as I write a lot of documents in French and in German, but I write more in English, so what I want is to be able to permanently change the setting so that every time I open a new document, the language is set to British English.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use change my icons, at least the dock ones to make them look uniform. I usually manually change them, (copy, ctrl+i, paste) but for ical I had a problem. I did the normal routine and it did work. It changed the icon to what I wanted, until I opened the program. Then it changed it back to the default icon. So I used Candybar to do the samething, and the same thing happened. I did this for about 20 icons or so, and they all changed, except for ical. Well it did change initally but when I opened it, it reverted.

I've been able to do this in Firefox and would love to be able to do it with Safari.
I use both Firefox and Safari and often want to save a URL to my desktop to go back to the site later on to read it. Problem is: when I drag the favicon next to the URL in either browser down to my desktop, the icon on my desktop reverts to a generic "@" icon. I'm left with dozens of these identical icons--not so easy to browse. How do I get Leopard to preserve the favicon of a URL when I drag it from my URL window to my desktop from either Safari or Firefox?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded to snow leopard and found a problem with my Safari browser - I cannot change my homepage to [URL] or any other page, the preferences always revert my homepage to the apple homepage.
When I installed 10.6, I did a "clean install" then copied over my bookmarks and history files from my backup drive. I then ran software update to update everything to the latest versions.
Is there a way to replace Aqua/Quartz as the default bootup desktop environment and instead start X with a window manager of my choice? I made an .xinitrc but not sure how to stop Aqua/Quartz from starting at bootup and replace it with X and my window manager.

I am trying to do that on my Mac, and that works well by dragging the web address from Safari on the desktop. However, what I get is a webloc with the correct URL (link works perfect), but always the same HTTP@ icon. Why Safari does not get the favicon automatically as the iPhone is doing? Recoverig the favicon from a web site is easy by just adding favicon.ico after the website address and the favicon is automatically downloaded. But how to replace the HTTP@ icon by the correct one?
