OS X :: Address Book Label Printing?
Dec 20, 2010I am tearing my hair out! Apple Address book is so close to having a workable solution to mass label printing.
Does anybody know how to print address labels from a group in the address book.
I know you can create templates pages for avery labels ect but it will only allow you to print the name rather than select a "nick name"
Any new ideas? I have started to dabble in the apple scripting side of this issues so I am open to suggestions... really anything saves having to write out 3000 addresses.

Mar 31, 2009Is there a way to show the company names in "name" column? Address Book (or Contact in iPod Touch) only gives me an option to sort out by the first name or the last name. I prefer sorting out by the company name.

Mar 30, 2012I would like two sections to my address book, my personal section and my companies section. To try and achieve this I have set up a group which has all my company contacts in. I use Mail to receive my company emails but when I go to add an address to the address book I cant work out how to automatically put it into my company contacts group.

Apr 2, 2012I have noticed that company entries in the Address Book don't seem to work like "person" entries in Mail. If I have a "person" named (for example) "John Doe", I can email that person just by typing "John Doe" in the To: section, and selecting from a list that populates automatically. However, if the address-book entry is for a company (e.g. Dave's Florist), it doesn't seem to work at all. And since Mail doesn't seem to have "address" functionality that lets you select from the Address Book, it seems like the only option is to go into the address book, copy the e-mail address, to back to mail, and paste.

What I am trying to do is print out my contacts names/addresses onto the precut address stickers for our wedding/save the date invitations (no calligrapher for us lol). There has to be an easy way to do this from this application? I am running the latest version of address book/leopard fyi.

Jun 8, 2012I am having trouble getting envelopes to print properly from Address Book in Lion. I have specified size #10 envelopes. When I print them, the text printed on successive envelopes moves further and further down the page until the address drops off of one envelope and is then printed at the top of the next envelope. If I print to PDF, I see the same behavior. I have an HP Photosmart Premium printer. I didn't have this problem before I upgraded to Lion, and all my settings are the same as they were prior to the upgrade. I have seen that other users have the same problem on the forums, but there isn't a clear cut answer to how to solve the problem anywhere. I also tried using the easy envelopes widget, and I still have the creeping further down the envelope problem.

Dec 28, 2008I am am relatively new returnee to Mac--I quit back in the early '90s and am now back. But it is clear that if Mac is to win over corporate users (and that surely is the way to wider use and ultimate victory over the PC) these two basic programs need work.
Some initial thoughts if what I want:
iCal
The display should be able to show part of one month and part of another --i.e. at the moment the last 2 weeks of December and the first 2 of January. Why can't the scroll wheel 'roll' the months up and down?
Address Book
I have something like 900 contacts in my address book, many of them remembered because of where they work, not because of there last name opr specific title or job. Yes, I do know you can check the book to have the company name displayed in the sort list but that's a slow and painful way of doing it--especially if you have 10 or more contacts working for the same firm and you then have to look at each in turn to discov er who you want.
I would like to be alter the display to show 2-lines of choice: say company above and last/first name below or maybe title below. I could then tell who is who without having to search each entry.
Ideally the sort function would be expanded to allow one to sort by, first, company and then, last name.

Magic, I thought. However the prefs pane in address book on my system does not have Google listed, only Exchange, Yahoo and MobileMe. How do I get it to add Google to the list? Failing that, are there other methods for syncing gmail contacts with address book?
