When I click on the email icon, my email window opens, then goes unresponsive, no new mail is downloaded, nothing happens. The cursor turns into the little multi colored wheel and doesn't change back. I am unable to access any options from the top menu bar. I am able to open a new program from the dock which allows me to force a quit of the email program.

I have a problem that when selecting a file that is either an attachment in email or is in my finder, double clicking on it fails to load the associated application successfully. For example, selecting a pdf file results in the pdf reader logo appearing on the lower bar on the screen, bounces up and down as if it is doing something, but just continues to bounce. I have to force quit it, then go to my application folder to load reader directly, and from within the reader I can then go and select the file. This isn't an application specific issue (It does it with Excel, Word etc).Â
It only started recently. I'm using a MBP summer 2010 with Mavericks 10.9.4. Everything else seems to work.Â

I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I'm with Virgin media and have a separate set of email address through my website for my business so my email address are through freeola that I am using through Thunderbird.I'm sorry if this all sounds very stupid but I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out where I have gone wrong!
I have a problem where finder (under any condition even after a fresh restart) does not load the folder contents on my computer. Sometimes it loads after multiple restarts but somtimes it doesn't. I cannot browse through files anymore as nothing appears. Nothing also appears on terminal either. Here is a screenshot.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a new HD, so i reformatted my disk and at the same time the 10.6.6 update with the Mac App Store came by. So i reinstalled my OS, then updated. I have the icon on de dock, but when i click it, it just stays saying: Loading, connecting to the iTunes Store... But it hangs there. It doesn't do anything. I even opened iTunes, logged into the store, but still nothing in the Mac App Store.
View 4 Replies View Relatedfor no reason all of a sudden my iphoto wont load pictures. the application opens but it says it is loading photos but it just spins and spins for an hour and never loads. the pics are still there, they are in my finder under photos. this is the first problem i have had with iphoto like this other than its normal bloated performance issues. what on earth can be causing this? how can i try to correct it? will i have to reinstall tiger?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2.4 Ghz Macbook pro with 4 GB of RAM, and compared to a lot of other Macs - like the 2.6 Ghz/2 GB iMac I'm typing this on - it seems awfully slow to load applications. I'm running Snow Leopard, and the problem has not gotten any different or better.
For example, if I quit Word, after opening it, and then start it again, it takes 8 seconds. On this iMac, it takes 2 seconds. They're both running Word 2008.
Firefox 3.6 often takes 6 seconds to open, compared to more or less instantaneously on the iMac. It's true that if I open Firefox, close it, and then open it again on my MBP, it sometimes then loads instantaneously, but if I wait 30 seconds, it might take 6 seconds again.
I have my graphics card set to "high performance," so it should be using the nVidia card rather than the integrated card, and I have the 7200 rpm hard drive.
What's the deal? I can't think of any exceptional CPU/memory-hogging application that I'm running in the background, and activity monitor shows 85-90% capacity idle.
I have a problem with my ITunes, the file shows up when clicked on to play, but the sound does not come out of the speakers. The song is highlighted in the juke box, the play button show a darker grey, but the song does not play, nor does the time advance or the pause button does not appear. TV shows, that I have downloaded for my daughter from the ITunes store, play video fine, but again, no audio. I have the up to date Quickplay, the audio level on ITunes is on max, the stereo speakers play on the internet fine. The system is a g4, with the current ITunes updates. I am still able to load music into ITunes, and transfer the music on to my IPod, my daughters IPod ano, and my wife's IPhone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI find that after using my Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro w/ Lion 10.7.4 for a period of time, my applications do not load/open. I will be working in an application that was previously open, want to open another one (any application) and the application icon will bounce forever in the dock.The program will never open.
I am forced to Force Quit the application. I then try to restart the computer and I get the lovely beachball and the computer never restarts. I have to hold down the power button to turn off and restart the computer.
I have tried the following to resolve this issue:
1. Repaired Permissions (numerous times)
2. Reinstall the 10.7.4 Combo Pack
3. Used Onyx and run all maintenance tasks
I really don't want to have to do a fresh install of everything.

My CD has stopped reading disks that i put in. It chugs for a while and ejects them If I burn a cd it works perfectly and I can view the burned data.

View 9 Replies View Relatedso i intentionally/accidentally deleted my qt plugins in safari trying to solve a player issue. anyway i have spent 24 hrs reading alllllll the posts and kind find a solution to my new problem. i have QTX and QT7 loaded on the mac snow leopard. this was working before i deleted the plugins. after reinstalling the QT 7, the plugins are in the internet plugin folder in both my main and user library, but Safari refuses to acknowledge their presences and simply says "plugin missing" when i go to webpage with embeded media or tries to download the .mov from another site. The plugins while in the library, are NOT listing in the Safari installed plugin list.

i have already had to quit it 3 times today because it just wouldn't load web pages. i'm typing this in Opera now...
i can open web pages fine when i freshly open Safari, but then if i leave it for about 10 minutes, then come back and want to use it again, it's useless, and so far i haven't been able to access anything if i leave Safari open for more than 10 minutes.
i've just got the Security Update 2003-12-05 which is supposed to fix some Safari stuff... but this problem hasn't really started until yesterday.
Firefox refuses to load swf on any website. I can view youtube just fine. This is what it looks like. The first pic is a article on gizmodo (I am sure most of you read it). The video is supposed to be where the white box is but it doesn't load. The second pic is supposed to be a music player on myspace. Before you ask, yes I did install flash correctly. I am computer savy. I don't have any problems on safari

Firefox (3.0.7, latest version) for OSX has been a nightmare lately. I prefer it to Safari because of the extensions, but I'm thinking of ditching it. Some web pages seem to be fine, but most will only load about half of the images.
For example, on Facebook I'll get about half of the profile pictures to load on my friends list, and the others will just display a broken image link icon.
The same occurs with forums (people's avatars), and even with some major websites, where there will just be huge gaps in a page where the images are supposed to be.
I've checked the auto load settings and I don't have any exceptions, so every site should be allowed to load images immediately without permissions.
My Safari won't load google images. Google itself works, and I can search all day long without fail, all the links are fine. But if I'm using google images, nothing loads up. I have deleted my history, emptied my cache, and finally reset safari, still nothing. Google works, its just google images I can't access.
However, I took my macbook into my local Apple store and as you guess, it worked a treat (making me look silly!). So this led me to believe it must be something with my internet connection, something in my modem settings. My parents have a HP Windows vista laptop, and google images works fine for them. And they use the same wifi network.
So now I'm stumped!
I have had my 13inch Macbook since February, and up until a month ago, I could load anything in google images. However a month ago I had to have my hard drive replaced when I upgraded to Snow Leopard. I apparently had a corrupt drive, so under warranty I got a new one - so the computer I am with now only has a hard drive that is 5 weeks old - I have no parental controls, no anti virus software, nothing that I could think of that might affect it?
why but lately all the .wmv videos I have watched have taken an extremely long time to fully load. Before the whole file would load and I would be able to seek throughout the video to any part which I liked. Now however, the video instantaneously pops up but I have to wait for it to load before I am able to seek but I can basically watch the whole video before it fully loads (as if it was streaming).

I have the free version of flip4mac, quicktime and OSX 10.5.8.
I've been using 1password and have had a massive annoyance ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Safari doesn't load 1password (3 - I've been using it since the beta started) the first time I use it after switching on my mac. I have to actually open 1password then refresh whatever page I wanted to use autofill on and after that it works whether I quit and reopen safari or just leave it running. This is a pain because I shouldn't have to add 1password to my startup items (that would be even more annoying). Has anyone else had this problem. I've tried various combinations of removing/adding the extension, disabling extensions (in 1password) uninstalling/reinstalling 1password, resetting Safari et cetera but none of it has made any difference. I've been running the latest Safari and latest 1password every time.
