May 21, 2009I am trying out Picasa on my iMac and just installed Adobe Lightroom. There does not appear to be a way to change or expand the choices in Picasa for "open" of a file.
I would like to use Picasa to manage my photos and do quick edits but be able to open a given photo in Lightroom.
Does anyone know of a way to set this up?

Jun 2, 2010I have been working on a project in iMovie for a few days, and it has been working perfectly. Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.
Another project i completed months ago is working perfectly. The clips in the events play/show up on the window in the upper right hand corner

May 29, 2010I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

May 22, 2012I am having a problem accessing any files on my desktop. I cannot delete, edit or move files there. I have rebooted and repaired permissions using disk utility. When trying to perform any task with files on the desktop, the icon freezes and gets 'stuck' to the mouse and prevents me from performing other tasks. It also prevents shut down (have to hard shut down with the power key).Current permissions for the Desktop folder are drwx

OS X Mavericks :: How To Edit Canon C300 MXF Files With Final Cut Pro 7 (Studio)
Jun 2, 2014I recently shot some footage on a Canon C300 and would like to edit it on FCP 7, problem is it seems since my computer did the upgrade to mavericks I can no longer find the appropriate driver on the Canon site as Mavericks is not supported by Canon for this particular update.
After researching I found that mxf files can be transcoded in log and capture but you need the appropriate driver installed. I have looked into third party applications but none of them seem entirely trust worthy and some cost money, which I don't believe I should pay considering I bought a legit copy of FCP at great expense and Apple seems to have forgotten all about it now FCX has been out for a while.

Jan 21, 2009have been making movies with imovie for the past few years. Today I imported from my camera, could see the clips moving in imovie when being transported, but when I tried to edit the clips, all I could get was a screen frozen with a picture, no movement, but could hear the sound. Then when I tried to open an already saved imovie (that had already been burned to iDVD successfully), the same thing happened.

But i have a few basic questions and all since i am a new mac user coming from a pc. 1- I have a 500GB western digital elite harddrive that i used to back up all the data from my pc. Now some of these files are over 8GB large. I am confused as to how i can transfer over files. I have heard about different file formats but i am very confused by each. Dec 10, 2014When I delete files there is no more free space. I ran a Disk Utility repair in Safe Mode and it said some files were corrupt and some had the wrong size but it didnt fix anything. It said to backup and restore/erase my mac. I dont really trust the saftey of my files in a backup because I have had lots of trouble with apple. Last time I was there they said my computer was to old (I got it in 2012). They also said they dont know whats is wrong with it and a bunch of other stuff, they just tried to get me to buy a new computer.

Dec 23, 2009I am trying to copy 2000 or so files (jpg images) from the hard drive of my imac running show leopard to a sd card. I keep getting the item "filename.jpg" can't be copied because there isn't enough free space. I can go back and copy smaller groups of files and then the file that I get the error on. But even coping 10 files I run into the error on certain files but I can copy all the other files in the selection and then the file that gave the error without a problem. All the files were exported from iPhoto resized to fit a digital photo frame I bought for a christmas present. Looking for a way to get the files to the sd card without coping small batches.

Jun 20, 2014My mac storage shows that I have 7.55 GB of movies on my computer, but I cannot find these movies anywhere. When I search ".mov" on my computer, it shows that there are movies and it looks like they are in iPhoto. When I open the iPhoto application, though, I do not see the movie files in there. So, I'm confused as to where exactly the files are and how to delete them off my computer to free up the 7.55 GB of space. How I can find and delete these files?

Aug 24, 2010I have a .mkv file on my iMac and when I rename it, it works but it also doesn't work.
I rename it by clicking on the .mkv file and clicking Get Info, then I can enter in the new file name there.
But then when I did open the file in VLC Player, it shows the original file name which is something stupid like "dizo".
I'm looking for a program which will let me edit this file name properly (hope that made sense).
