Applications :: Most Of My Mac Programs Are Not Responding?

Programs such as iTunes, EyeTV, Skype, PhotoBooth, etc just RANDOMLY stop responding. I always have to restart my Mac to get them to respond again. The programs work fine on a guest account.

This is my first Mac and this is my only problem with it please help. I don't want to return it to Apple it's worked so great.

Software :: Several Programs Not Responding?
System OS X 10.3.9 (Panther)-G4 (also OS9 Classic)

I saw a question recently titled 'Safari not responding' which is a problem I have been experiencing. The following programs also are not responding: Help Viewer/Calculator/software update (checks but will not install)/printer setup. I followed the suggestions and booted off the Cd and ran the Repair Disk/Repair Permissions programs but this did not solve the problem. I tried downloading the 10.3.8 Combo Updater but the installer part does not respond (spinning wheel!). Is there anything else I can try? In the past I have found some of the updates to cause problems (especially QuickTime) and have tried deleting the related preferences file but this no longer corrects the problem.

IMac Intel :: Programs Freezes And Not Responding / Cannot Force Quit
For the past few weeks, I have been having this strange problem, starting with EXCEL, but now on other programs like iphoto, itunes, and even finder. Sometimes programs just freeze, spinning beach ball forever. When I go to force quit, the program closes, but still stay listed in the force quit window as "program not responding". As well, the little light blue dot under the program icon in the dock stays "open". Once force quit, the program can't be launched again and the only thing to do is restart the computer. This only happens to one program at a time i.e.: If it is happening in, say, excel, but other programs are open, they will run fine. I have repaired permissions.

OS X Leopard :: Applications Stop Responding With Mac Mini After Installing
Have been encountering numerous problems since installing OS X Leopard on my Mac Mini 1.1 (1.83 GHz Intel C2D with 1 GB RAM). Specifically, Front Row, I-Tunes and other applications stop responding frequently. Also, when you restart you can hear the optical drive trying to load. Also, the LaCie mini USB and firewire hard drive connected to the mac mini stopped showing on the desktop (this is where I store all of my media files). The hard drive on the mac mini checks out fine, I have reset the PMU several times, checked and repaired permissions and reloaded Mac OS X leopard (10.5.5) but these problems persist.

Applications :: IMovie 09 - Not Responding?
I've been working on a movie for several weeks and all of a sudden it won't open. After several minutes I have to perform a forced quit of IMovie as it's not responding. This really sucks as I've been working on this presentation for some time in order to have it ready for graduation later this month. I'm going to start using the older version of IMovie.

For the past 2/3 weeks the itunes store has become extremely slow and to load a page on it takes 2-3 minutes! It also has loads of missing images/links and when buffering a preview track it takes up to 30 seconds to play a few seconds of the track. It is defiantly not a problem my end with internet and it is over 2MB. I have just read on the Apple Discussions that this is happening to other people with the latest update. [URL].

Applications :: ITunes Not Responding When Importing Mp3s
I'm a new macbook pro i5 user (first mac). Got it last wednesday..I've gone by with figuring stuff out myself, and browsing for help articles etc. online

I have a Western Digital 500gb fw/usb external harddrive that I used with my pc laptop. It's formatted in NTFS, and filled up with my mp3's. I've tried to drag the whole folder over to itunes, it chokes up and shows the rainbow icon thing both on usb and on FW. Then I tried to choose like 10 folders and import, still chokes up but it did manage to import SOME of those folders. So you can see it'll be a big problem for me to import the whole thing if I have to live with this and do it manually.

Second thing is, the few GB's that it has imported, everytime I open itunes now, it tries to finish estimating pauses and whatever for those tracks, but keeps choking up and get unresponsive. So I have to hard-quit itunes, or quickly hit the X several times to make it stop figuring out the pauses etc.

Wondering what is up with this...brand ned MBP that otherwise runs well, newest itunes that otherwise runs well, no problem with the harddrive...You guys have a solution? Should I format the harddrive to another format, what?

Applications :: Office 2011 - Responding Very Slow On I7 MBP?
After finally buying my new 2.66GHz i7 MBP and a fresh copy of MS Office 2011, I was excited to finally have a copy of Office that performed quickly / speedily / comparable in speed to any new Windows machine I've ever used. Not so much. Every copy of Office for Mac I've had has been super slow. I'm talking 20 bounces (minimum) to open, pinwheel to do many functions, etc. Every copy of Office I've used on any Mac has had some degree of sluggishness.

I can't understand it! My bare bones Windows 7 computer (with much slower specs than my new i7) launches Office instantly, no lag, no problems! Why is Office plagued with speed issues? It's absolutely maddening. As a side note, I have always preferred the Windows version of Office to the Mac-skinned version MS gives us. I can't be alone here, can I? How does Office run on a hex-core Mac?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: 10.7.4 - Applications Not Responding & WiFi?
I've been experiencing the same problems since installing the 10.7.3 in February.  I have an iMac (2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 - OS X 10.7.4) only 12 months old.  When I installed OS X version 10.7.3 I noticed that a variety of applications kept freezing and I would have to force quit them as they were "not responding" The applications varied from itunes, word, excel, disk utility, and so on.  It didn't seem to discriminate.  I also noticed that the wifi kept dropping out and was rarely detected by my smart phone (not problems with wifi connectivity on phone).  The other problem was that I couldn't restart the computer or even shutdown as it would get stuck on a white screen.  I would have to turn off with on/off button.

I installed the 10.7.3 Combo with some difficulty as it kept freezing as well.  It seemed to help for a day but then the same problems came back.  Yesterday I installed the latest version update 10.7.4 hoping that this would solve all my problems but unfortunately I am still experiencing the exact same problems.

OS X Leopard :: Applications Stops Responding And Force Quit Fails
For the last week or so, probably 75% of the time that I save my work on word, excel or numbers the application stops responding. Force Quit either doesn't work or takes an extraordinarily long time to work and I end up restarting the computer. A few times during these episodes, Finder also stops responding, in which case I can't even restart appropriately. I'm wondering if an upgrade to 10.6 would fix this issue or if I should be doing something else instead to avoid total hard drive failure!

Applications :: Sign In To Microsoft Messenger Failed Because The Service Is Not Responding?
Now I know that a lot of people have had this problem in the past but I'm hoping that maybe someone will have a solution now that actually fixes this problem. When I attempt to sign in I get the error message "Sign in to Microsoft Messenger failed because the service is not responding. The service is not available or you may not be connected to the internet."

I've tried deleting every trace of msn and reinstalling it, Which did not work. I've also tried upgrading to msn 8 beta (Which incidentally crashes when I try to open it) and downgrading to 6.0.3. Neither of these fixed the problem. I've tried resetting my router, which had no effect. I've tried disabling proxies but it turns out I don't have any so that's not the problem. I've looked at the firewall but msn is not blocked.

Other clients such as amsn and adium are not experiencing the same problem. Msn is working fine on my macbook and other windows machines in my household. It is just my Imac that seems to be having the problem.I have scoured the internet and nothing I have found has been of any use.

First program is a booting freeware that lets me choose boot OS Windows XP/Mac and would recognize Linux if installed. The name sounded like ribbit or rbedit.

Second program is a freeware screen capturing program, it allowed me to record my screen for long periods of time or was it pay to use? Hopefully someone can remind me...

I planned on getting these programs but totally blanked out and cant retrace myself.

While they seem perfectly able to password protect a folder, this folder seems far from secure. In each case, the folder itself is not accessible without entering the password, but the files are visible in the finder under "recent documents".

I was hoping for a program that could securely protect these documents from casual viewing (including the "search for" section of the finder bar) while being relatively user friendly. I don't care about encryption.

I feel all of these are necessary for me to have complete control of my Macbook Pro.

MacBook :: Unable To Open Programs - Programs Are Not Displaying
I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.

Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?

Also, when i try to reinstal it from the disk, the intallation app closes unexpectedly as well.

Since the crash, safari and firefox open, but i have to reset and relaunch it every time.

This happened to me once before, but i ended up bringing my computer into the mac store and hey fixed it, but i am wondering if there is a way i can do it without having to bring it and not have my computer for a day.
