im trying to run kai photo soap which is an old windows/classic mac program from an install CD that i have.
When i insert the install CD into my macbook, the ".exe" windows files does not show up....thus preventing me from trying to use Darwine to run the ".exe" set up...
the only files that show up on the CD are the classic mac install files..
Do any games downloaded from yoyogames [URL] work without a single bug? All the games I donwloaded so far say "There was an error running the program, check in Wine log". The files I download are .exe .

I am trying to use darwine to run an exe, but am running into a problem. I click the exe and it loads up with darwine, however it is an exe that doesn't just run, but needs to be installed. When I try to click the installer location, it doesn't let me click install. I run vmware, and can install it with that, however, I'm trying to make it simple for a friend on a mac to run 1 silly program that she needs.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to use the Notepad++ on my new Mac, I found out (after a lot og Googling) that I need and Mac version of the Wine - the Darwine to be able to run it. So I got the 1.1.7 version of the Darwin form HERE After the installation I have the Darwine folder inside the Applications and it contains:
- Sample WineLib Applications
- Wine.Bundle
- WineHelper
Afterwards I got the Notepad++ from HERE. I downloaded the executable file (npp.5.1.3.Installer.exe) Now - my understand it about how to run the Notepad++ correctly is following:
1) Run the Wine.Bundle
2) Click "Choose the application"
3) Do so
- But just I can not choose the "npp.5.1.3.Installer.exe".
- If I just run the npp.5.1.3.Installer.exe direcly via clickung on it - it crashes
- If I try to run the WineHelper - it also crashes ....
I am trying to run Darwine 0.9.27 on my Mac (OSX 10.5.6) for emulation purposes, however it does not work. I downloaded X11 2.3.2.1 from the Xquartz project to make sure I was up to date with X11, however that did not solve the problem. For example, here is the error I get when I try and run Knytt, a compact, free Windows game: err:module:attach_process_dlls "gdi32.dll" failed to initialize, aborting err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"Z:\Users\Banjaloupe\Games\Knytt\Knytt.exe" failed, status c0000005
I think the problem is with X11, since I also cannot run GIMPshop, which I know needs X11. However, I have no experience at all using X11 in the first place, which is why I am quite stumped. Of course, the real issue could be with Darwine, or some other incompatibility I'm missing.
What I used to love about my Powerbook G4 is that it's pretty much silent, unless I happen to be burning something, or running several programs at once. However, this appears to be a thing of the past, as I've begun to notice that the fan is now permanently whizzing, and while it's not loud, it's anything but silent. This happens constantly, while I'm running minimal programs, and while my computer is sitting on my desk, not on any soft surfaces.

The other day I had an issue with Mac OS, not sure what, but long story short I reinstalled/downgraded to Leopard. I have since installed all the Software Updates and such, but have not upgraded to Snow Leopard. (I'd had alot of issues with it, figured I'd stay downgraded for awhile)
In any case, I was able to download and run Java files no problem on Snow Leopard, but no longer can. It's not a ONE Java file problem.
I have a iMac(it is an older one but I forget when I bought it) it has OS X 10.4.11, and 1 GB ram. I have 30 GB of free HD space.
Normally, I run Aol Desktop, Firefox, iTunes and sometimes Microsoft Word. But recently while browsing the internet the Mac will stop working. The music will continue to play and the mouse will still move but everything else stops working. The only way I have been able to fix it is to hold the power button for a couple of seconds.
Also, while trying to zero out my free space the available HD space on my computer went to 0 and the Disk Utility said it would take something like 1 million hours to finish so I skipped that step and when it finished my memory was restored.
Before yesterday, when I opened a program, such as Safari on my mac the white dot would appear below it. When I turned on my computer this morning the white dot did not appear under any program i opened. I have safari and itunes open now and neither have the white dot below them. Finder does have the white dot below it, but none of the others do. Its not like it needs to be fixed, but I just find it anoying because im used to the dot being there

I am running Windows XP on my desktop. I have been using Itunes for years and it has worked fine till about two weeks ago. I had been having issues with my computer being very slow so I began using several freeware programs to clean up my computer. I used Repair Doctor, AVG PC Analyzer, PC Pitstop, Glary Utilities, and Advanced System Care. I discovered that ITunes was no longer usable after using AVG PC Analyzer. I have gone back and reversed all the changes that I made using PC Analyzer and have also used Windows System Restore to go back to a time previous to most of the clean up activities. I have uninstalled ITunes several times and then reinstalled using various combination of installing ITunes and QuickTime. QuickTime is working fine, but ITunes is not working. I click on the ITunes icon and nothing happens.

I found a Kodak printer program and an HP printer program both of which I deleted from applications, but both of which are chewing up 500MB of process memory, and when I force a quit they just pop open again a second later.Question:

I'm having a hell of a time trying to run Darwine on this ol' eMac. I installed Xcode so that I could use MacPorts to install Freetype because it seems to be required for Darwine. So, every time I attempt to run a program, it goes through its font checks, and afterward, it tells me the following:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI finally made the switch from PC to Mac buy selling my HP laptop and desktop computers and buying the new MacBook Pro. However, I have licenses for Creative Suite 4 for Windows and still need to run it on my Mac using Boot Camp and/or Parallels until I can afford to jump to CS5 for Mac (this MBP took a big chunk of my cash). I'd like to run Windows using Boot Camp AND Parallels - Boot Camp when I need all system resources and Parallels when I need to hop over to Windows to type a Word document or something quick (got Office 2007 for Windows too).
Can I use both Boot Camp and Parallels with one serial number for Windows 7? If so, how do I install? Would I install Windows on Boot Camp or Parallels first? If anyone has some guidance for installing one copy of Windows 7 on both applications
If you set up boot camp with run windows and then also want to run windows with parallel, do you need two licenses of Windows to do this? Or can both programs access the same instance of Windows?

I have no desire if I do get one to boot xp on it I find the mac os to look more clean(yeah if that makes since) My current laptop is a sony vaio. I mean I know its not strong enough to handle the adobe programs, I can barely run flash cs4 and photoshop cs4 at the same time. My specs on my current sony vaio which I got like 2 and a half years ago is 0.99 gigs of ram/1.60 ghz/ginuwine intel (r) cpu. I know its nothing compared to today and with more work from clients I need something that can handle running at least 5 of the adobe programs at the same time with the internet browser opened and maybe a mp3 player like jet audio playing some tunes to get some serious work done occasional video editing but nothing too crazy..

I recently bought a macbook pro and need to run some windows programs for work. Is it possible to start my mac and have it go the screen where I can pick either mac or windows for it to start in? I know I can default to one or the other and I know I can hit the option key when starting and get it to the choice screen - I was just hoping I could start the mac and have it go to the choice screen and then I have the option of choosing which op sys I need.
