I'm disappointed with the new Outlook 2011 that it doesn't have a read receipts.is there anyways to generate read receipts on outlook 2011? if not does Mail on Mac have this feature? or is there anyway to have this feature.

Since you are installing an upgrade, the software will ask for your previous license key to verify this. Knowing that the consumer has already legally purchased CS3 and an upgrade to CS4, he/she uses a keygen to generate a license to CS3 and installs the software.
Would you think this is legal and should be okay to do?
I want to insert a date in the header and save it as a template. Just as what the templates shipped with Pages. I have no difficulty in inserting the date( from the date menu), and I saved it as a template. The question is that when I use the template next time, the date is the date that I created the template. While apple's template has no this kind of problem.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just switched from Snow leopard to Lion and i don't like the way that Lion has the mail preview set up as a 3 column vertical format. I thought in Snow Leopard you could change the set-up so it's either horizontal or vertical, but I can't seem to find that option in Lion. I want to have the list of my email messages in the top, horizontal window and the preview of the selected message in a horizontal window below. Am I missing this option to change the view format from vertical to horizontal somewhere?

I've been running all of my emails through my iPhone since it was released. Just recently I picked up a new Mac Mini as a work machine, and I set up Mail to handle all of the same accounts as my phone, with the thinking being that I can read and respond to messages when I'm at the computer, and when I step away, be able to read the remaining emails on my iPhone.
What my problem is, however, that both my Gmail and Hotmail accounts don't seem to "sync" properly between the phone and the computer, meaning that mail that I've read or deleted in Mail on the Mac Mini don't show up as being read or deleted on the iPhone, and vice versa.
I don't want to have to delete a message on my phone if I've already taken care of it in Mail.
Email recipients using Mac Mail have been reporting that when they get email from me (from Outlook2007 in the PC), it would include all the tags. Also happens when I send as RTF. Plain text is fine.
So I did an experiment and since I am a mac user too, I tested it myself on my mac mail. Test scenario is this:
1. I send email from Outlook2007 (PC) using HTML as default.
2. I open with Macmail, I get garbage. (see below and/or attached file for illustration.)
3. I open same email on Entourage, it's fine.
4. I open same email on webmail, it's fine.
On my iPhone and iPad mail app, which is sourcing from my Gmail, 'read' mail is changed to read mail (from unread) status on across iPad and iPhone mail application platforms. But not for IMac using Lion.
View 4 Replies View Relatedim using Mail to recieve my hotmail messages and im trying to find a way to avoid having a hotmail inbox with hundreds of unread emails since they're all being sent to Mail.
with thunderbird, when the messages are copied from hotmail they are automatically marked as read so when you sign into hotmail or msn you dont recieve a message notifying you of having 500 unread messages...only the amount of unread messages you have in thunderbird.
since ive found a lot of similarities between Mail and thunderbird, surely there's a way to set Mail to behave the same way.
For the past few months my mail program has constantly said that I have two unread messages in it. I have gone through every folder on there and selected all the messages and marked them as Read but there is still a "2" on the icon in the Dock. It's not a huge deal but it's been kind of bugging me since it seems like it should be a simple fix. Anyone have any ideas for how I can get rid of this? Is there a "Master" way to to mark all messages read in the Mail program, in case I'm missing some somewhere? I'm not sure if this helps but the email account that it says the "2 unread messages" are in is a school Outlook account. I have tried deleting the account and readding it and the same "2 unread messages" notification is still there.

I don't know if this began with Lion or are some update.It is clearly related to Mail group messages by 'conversation'. Normally, if I select a message either with the mouse or by mvoing up or down the inbox with the cursor keys, the message I move to gets marked as read (it looses it unread mark). However, when a message is put into a group of related message by Mail, this often but not always does not happen. In some cases, moving to the message, to the next message, and back again will get it marked read. But in other cases, I need to expan the group with the nbr> mark and then select any member messages to get them marked read.
If the unmarked member messages were below the most recent message I might be annoyed but I could grasp what is happening.However, in most every case, the most recent message is marked as unread and I need to select is directly and then leave it to get the group marked as read.This slows down browsing through the messages I receive which include a lot which are of no interest to me most of the time (if always of no interest I could get them stopped). So I like to be able to select the oldest unread message and then use the cursor keys to move up the list one at a time and if I'm not interested in a message I just keep going, otherwise I stop and process it.

I have tried everything recommended to reset my WiFi/Mac connection--My Mac Book Pro won't generate an IP address or something. I have tried clearing all of my WiFi networks from my advanced WiFi and keychain spaces and re-logging into my WiFi--nothing works. And its not limited to my WiFi--its any WiFi at all. I have used disk utilities to repair my disk, my disk permissions, etc.Â
I have command R and then run disk utilities and reinstalled my OS-X. Under the advanced section in the WiFi settings on the TCP/IP page everything is blank--where an IP number should be listed, its not--and all I get is an exclamation over my WiFi icon. My computer and see WiFi networks, and even attempts to connect, it just can't. I had this problem once before a few years back and I think I got around it by wiping my hard drive and reinstalling. Â

Every update of Quicktime,iPhoto,iWeb,iDVD etc.the system will write a new receipt but keeps the previous receipts.
I've never had to do a return receipt before. I needed one today and could not find a place on the menu system to allow this.
I also checked down through several layers here and could find nothing on this topic.
I know a lot of people say never to delete anything from the folder Library/Receipts, but how about: printer brands you don't own/use applications you've deleted also: I have about ten receipts for NeoOffice updates--would it be ok to delete all but the last? and a system package for 10.3.9--i know normally not to touch apple system stuff but if you've been using tiger from day one practically and plan to upgrade to leopard soon is it ok to throw out a panther-related receipt?
i know i need to delete other things (movies basically) because i'm down to a couple gigs of free space on my HD
How can I get the mail headers to "gray" out or be colored when they've been read? Right now, ALL messages in the list are bold black. Once I read an email, it still shows bold and black. I need some sort of identification to show what is NEW and what HAS BEEN READ. Â

Is there a way to setup mail not mark items as read when they are selected? I know in Windows with Outlook you have an option for something like that.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI restored from backup OS X 10.5.8 Leopard using Time Machine to a brand new drive. After manually migrating some data to the newly restored boot drive I accidentally replaced the /Library/receipts folder with an out dated receipts folder. The problem is there is no way to get the proper receipts folder back so I'm stuck with a receipts folder filled with permissions that are not in sync with the list. I'm assuming this blunder is causing the error: The underlying task reported failure on exit, every time I try to repair permissions. I need this boot drive to be stable and want to avoid installing from DVD the OS from scratch. The drive checks out ok with every test accept repair permissions. The system is running VERY stable now on this brand new WD Caviar Black 1 TB drive. Do you think it's safe to clone this drive even though repair permissions won't work anymore?
