I'm running 10.6.5 and have MobileMe iDisk syncing turned on - which I like and use.
Is there a way to remove the iDisk icon from the Desktop at all as I really like an empty desktop?
I was playing around with a .mac trial account and got the iDisk icon on my desktop. When I try to drag it to the trash bin the trash bin changes and says eject, but nothing happens when I release the mouse. It seems that there is no way for me to delete this icon.View 9 Replies View Related
I just switched to a Mac a few hours ago after using a PC for years. I downloaded Firefox for Mac, and it works fine. The only thing is I have a disc drive of it on my desktop, as well as an icon on the bar. I have mounted the drive and dropped the icon into the applications folder, exited Firefox completely and was successful at "ejecting" the drive so it left my desktop. The thing is, when I went back and opened Firefox, that drive thing came back and it asked me if I wanted to run the application or something like that. Is there any way I can get Firefox to open normally and run without that driver thing on the desktop.View 4 Replies View Related

Just got an 'Apple [OEM] Rom' super drive from OWC. Next: how does one install it nicely in the beige G3 case. I see plastic everywhere and am 'guessing’ there is some sort of detent or stop that you can click to slide the original drive out. But I don’t see it! So, is there some sort of tray or rack that will allow me to slide out the old and slide in the new?

I recently installed iFlicks, which seemed to install some Scripts into Itunes and add this menu option. I have since removed iFlicks using appzapper, yet it has not been removed. I also looked in library/iTunes/ and found no folder with scripts or anything similar. My last attempt has been to install iFlicks again and uninstall, but to no avail.View 2 Replies View Related
For whatever reason, my Hard Drive icon has moved itself down a spot on the OS X desktop. It's the only icon on the desktop and when I put it back in the upper right corner like it was originally it stays until I reboot and then it's moved back down a "spot." Anyone run into this funny behavior?View 4 Replies View Related

Is there a way to remove adium's dock icon? It seems rather repetitive to have it both in the status bar and dock. I know I can remove the status bar icon, but I'm pressed for space on the dock. Any ideas? Thanks!View 3 Replies View Related
I recently uninstalled vmware fusion and afterwards noticed that the little icon on my menu bar is still there.
I tried clicking on it to get to the "applications menu settings" section, where I could presumably remove this, but since I uninstalled it doesn't do anything.
I also tried holding command and dragging it off the menu bar - nothing.
My googling has given me solutions for it, but only if the software is still installed. Is there some way around having to re-install it to fix this? That would be a pain because I no longer have the disc.
Maybe there's some file I can delete or something I can kill via terminal?

I have a bunch of flash drives I need to format for work, and we want to put our company logo as the icon for each drive. We wanted to format them as MS-Dos Fat so that they'll be readable and writeable on both Mac and Windows computers. But when I format them that way and change the icon, it displays as a generic preview JPEG image instead of the real image or even the default hard drive icon.
I managed to fix it so the icon will display properly in Snow Leopard, but in Lion the drive still mounts with the generic Preview thumbnail.
Is there any way I can easily format a flash drive so that a) it will be readable and writeable on Windows and OSX machines and b) have the icon for the drive appear correctly on Lion, Snow Leopard, and windows machines?
This should be easy but I can't seem to get it!

I just moved my iTunes library from my laptop to my desktop. When I started itunes I noticed my applications had the name of the application but was missing the icon, i.e. showed an application icon and labeled below it was Pandora but was missing the Pandora icon. My music and movies were just fine. I right clicked on the file and selected get info. it returned "could not find original". I tried to sync and it deleted the applications from my iTouch. I see the application's icon when I bring up iTunes on my laptop.View 1 Replies View Related
I'm trying to find a solution to an issue a family member it having with Yahoo Messenger and an iMac. The computer is an early release aluminum iMac, running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11. Yahoo Messenger is the most current version installed. A transparent image of the Messenger icon is on the dock and seems to be stuck between the dock's line near the trash can. It won't delete, even deleted the normal version of Messenger, shut down the computer and restarted it. The image was still on the dock. Are there Messenger files in other folders, that somehow didn't get deleted when the application was deleted, causing this?View 4 Replies View Related

I am new to this site, and I'm not very computer savvy as this is my first mac. Today I noticed a folder/icon at the bottom of my desktop that had the "@" symbol on it, and the letters "http" below it. My concern is, I don't know how it got there. When I clicked it, it went to a band website I go to. I guess I'm concerned with security and want to know if this is anything I should worry about being as I've never seen that little icon before. ty.View 2 Replies View Related
