I use this function about 100 times a day and it is very inconvenient that I have to go through a submenu for that.

Oct 15, 2010I have an iMac desktop computer, Intel based, with Snow Leopard running on it. When I am running iPhoto the small photos appear in the right pane as they should. However, when I double click on one of the photos to enlarge it, many of them will show a black screen with a white circle and a black exclamation point in the white circle. When I click it again, it returns to the smaller size and is visible. If I use the slider, the pictures will get bigger but when I double click on them the black screen with the exclamation point appears. Again, when I click the black screen, the smaller picture re-appears. This phenomenon does not happen on all of the pictures, just some. Also, the photos that this occurs on are not copies of the originals. When I highlite the photo to edit it and click on edit the screen also goes black. Does anyone have a clue as to what is causing this and how I might fix it?

Nov 17, 2009While using handbrake to rip a dvd. My screen suddenly turn black. i can only see the mouse pointer and can see my desktop. if i close the lid and open again. it back to normal. is this thing normal??? why is it happen??? Is this safe?????
I am not so sure. I only know that this happen during handbrake. After encoding for awhile. I leave it encode while away to eat something. 30 min later, i check. the screen is black. The only thing i see is the mouse pointer and nothing else. I try to move the mouse pointer and press dashboard but dashboard does not show. it still black. after i close the lid then it return to normal.
Applications :: Safari 1x1 Pixel - Black And White Screen?
Sep 21, 2009Every url that I enter (bookmark, email link, etc.) comes up as 1 pixel by 1 pixel. That's all. It loads instantaneously, doesn't give me an "I cannot connect" error, and displays a blank white screen.
I've tried: many different links
- quitting and relaunching Safari
- reinitializing Safari
- I can still connect to the interweb via Mail, Firefox, iTunes.
Applications :: ITunes Movies Won't Playback - Black Screen?
Feb 1, 2010It seems a whole section of my 350+ movies in my iTunes have all of a sudden stopped playing back. These are movies that played back perfectly just a few days ago but now only display a black screen with the timeline ticking away as if it was playing. All these movies were ripped from DVD's and converted using Handbrake.
Has this happened to anyone else? I think its some type of file corruption but I can't imagine what caused it. What makes it strange is that it only happened to a section of movies and not one common trait can be found among them.
I've done a bit of googling and mroogling and haven't been able to find a solution let alone another user have the same problem.
Any ideas? I have all the video_ts folders backed up so I just need to encode them again, but I would like to prevent this from happening again.
Applications :: Possible To Rip Bonus Section Of DVD
Jan 13, 2009I've used Handbrake to rip a dvd to my Macbook and put it in itunes. This only ripped the main video, which is what I was expecting, but is it possible to rip the bonus sections as well (either as seperate videos or all in one video with the main one)? I'm going to give Mac the Ripper a go for backing up my dvds because as far as I can tell this will give me a file that will be just like the dvd with the menus and the bonus sections. Is that right? If handbrake can't do what I'm asking, can I add the file Mac the Ripper creates to iTunes or would I need to use Mac the Ripper to create a back up of a dvd and Handbrake to make a copy to use in iTunes?

May 24, 2012I came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?

In order to be able to change the order of the chapters I please, I have made a section out of each and every one. Now I face the following problem: The first, I think, four pages I have enumerated with roman numbers, the rest I wish to have in Arabic numbers. However, now that I have introduced sections, each sections restarts the arabic numbers. So, e.g, page 10 start as 1, page 11, again, as 1. Each next page is a new section, therefore, starting with one. So, how do I make those sections behave properly, and continue numbering properly?

Aug 23, 2010Every once and a while, usually when my MacBook is running on it's battery, the screen will show a black screen for nearly only a millisecond or two. It's not too bothersome, and it usually blinks back to normal before I can notice it, but nevertheless I don't want it, and from what I can recall, this only started happening after I installed the Snow Leopard Graphics Update. Feb 4, 2008I am looking at purchasing an Ibook G4 but the description of the item includes this:"When you switch it on it begins to load up i.e. the blue screen with the Apple logo, but then the screen goes black or flickers. Said friend has kindly wiped the hard drive for me so now when you switch it on it makes the �opening� noise then you get a blue screen with alternating �?� and the Finder logo."
I have a feeling this may have been a temporary fault with the screen connector being loose and possibly damaged.But i assume the alternating "?" and the "finder logo" is simply a lack of OS?

Mar 17, 2009I was trying to install Windows XP Pro, but for some reason the it wasn't showing another HDD to install Windows on. So I quit the install, and restarted my computer. Now all that happens is the normal grey screen appears (with no Apple logo), then it goes to a black screen and has the blinking cursor (Kinda like DOS).

My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.

Jan 4, 2010I have a problem with my screen - when there is something black on, I can see a faint mark of a lighter colour. I have tried to take a picture, please excuse the poor quality. There is nothing visible when the screen is off, even under close examination. Is it less visible when lighter things are on the screen, and invisible when the screen is white.
No drops or liquid spills. Will this go away on it's own? Any fixes?

Apr 30, 2007My iBook will not display anything on its screen. Rather, it just remains black. One time, the screen did come on, but then shortly after booting, it flickered a lot and then went black again. A year ago, something similiar happened and when I took it to be serviced (when I had AppleCare), they had to send it away and have a new logic board installed. Now this machine is out of warrenty and and I am not sure what to do, or even if it is the same problem. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Sep 10, 2014As the headline says the right half of the screen turns black when watching video content in iTunes on full screen. I can see the whole picture when moving the mouse a little but as soon as the navigation bar disappears the right half of the picture disappears too. It does not matter what source it is. Both podcasts and movies work (or do not work) the same.
The problem doesn't occur for other player (VLC, XBMC etc.).
I have the latest OS (10.9.4) and iTunes (11.4). The computer is MBP 13-inch retina, late 2012 if it matters.

When trying to open computer after being in sleep mode, I clicked the mouse to open the password screen, & a blank blue/black screen appeared & the mouse timer( colored circle) appeared, as if to be waiting. Jun 2, 2012When my MacBook Pro 13" i5 goes into screen saver mode, which is black, it won't return to normal mode. Tried all keys, trac pad, closing the lip and re-opening it, and it won't respond. The only thing that works is holding down power button for hard shutdown, then restarting it. It has happened 8 times in the last 2 weeks.
