Running Firefox for OS X version 3.6.3. After about 20 minutes of use, the yellow minimize window button turns grey, and is not available. When I quit the browser and relaunch it, the yellow middle button is back.
View 2 RepliesFor some blasted reason the send button on Mail keeps getting greyed out. I try resetting from time machine backups. It will work for a few messages then become greyed out again.
When I used the Connection Doctor everything checks out as fine. My SMTP information is correct. As it has always worked in the past, works in Outlook, works in Entourage and cross checks as correct by multiple online sources and the ISP's customer service.
I have also repaired permissions.
Why would this button ever be designed to grey out in the first place? An error message after clicking would be better then a button that give no information at all.
Unfortunately this is a customers computer so I can't just swing by to check some more. The above listed steps are ones I went through before performing a time machine restore. Which worked for a while then the same problem occurred. Another Time Machine restore fixed it. Now the customer is having the same problem so I am trying to find another solution.
I have a little problem with Iphoto. I imported like many photos into Iphoto, it created an event and now I want to organize the photos in my event manually (and only in my event, not in any new iphoto folder or so, and without like renaming the photos manually). In presentation / organize there is a button for "organize manually", but on all the computers that I have at home, that button is grey so I can't click on it (and therefore it's impossible to organize the photos manually)

I love how in OSX you can go to a Window in the dock and click hide:
Instead of the window minimizing and taking up even more room on the dock, it just hides in the already existing icon (in this case the active window hides in the safari icon). When I click minimize on the actual window this happens:
Now Safari is taking up two spaces on my dock. Is there any way to make it so every time, no matter what the window is, if you click minimize or even exit, it hides the window as opposed to minimizing it and wasting a dock space?

I swear I am not crazy but at random times when surfing I will be taken back to the previous page even though my hand wasn't even on the mouse.
Just did a netrestore on a mbp mid 2010 with an image from same generation mac and this is the result. Software update does NOT launch if I select it from the apple-menu.

I have an I mac running 10.4. I had to reboot it form Dis warrior, DW did it thing told what ever was wrong and it fixed, now when is all done scanning and "fixing" my computer the reset button on the DW is grayed out, only the cancel button is on. I have reboot it about 4 times to no avail same thing happens.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows Vista less and less on my MacBook and the partition takes up about 1/2 of the hard disk space. I tried using Disk Utility but I guess I don't know what I am doing. I choose the Partition button. In the Volume Scheme, I choose the partition that has Windows on it. In the Volume Information text box, I tried to enter a smaller size but the Apply button is grayed out. So, how do I reduce the size of the partition that Windows is installed on? I guess I am not quite brave enough to completely delete Windows from the machine. I "might" need it occasionally. Windows is being used by BootCamp.

It made a loud (very loud) beep, while the screen was grey. The power button flashed in yellow, and then became orange, and then chimed like it usually does, and booted normally.
Now she is using it, it's like if nothing happened.
Specs: iMac DV 400mHz, 640 MB. Mac OS 10.4.11
With Snow Leopard, i have an IOMEGA external HD which i am using for Time Machine backups. it appears the backups are copying, however i cannot click "restore." it is grayed out. I have seen random posts but do not see a resolution. does anyone have one? Luckily (without jinxing it), i have not had to use Time Machine, however my Mac did blow up once before which is why i have Time Machine now.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the Mac and have been getting used to it quite nicely, but there's one thing that I peeves me just slightly. That one thing is that whenever I click somewhere that is off the application I'm using, it just disappears into the background and there's no minimized icon of it on my dock. Now if I hit the orange minimize button manually it will minimize off to the right side of my dock, but I would like to know if it is possible to somehow get the same thing to happen automatically when I click somewhere off the application I'm using.
This mainly annoys me on my MSN conversations. A lot of times, I've clicked on the video I was watching. Paused it to go do something and then when I was done watching the video and wanted to start chatting again, I find out that my friend had said something and I missed it. (My MSN dock icon only jumps up four times before sitting still).
Using Command + M means minimised a window. But in CS3, pressing Command + M out comes the curves. Is there a command key to minimise the image. When image open in CS3, it automatically occupy a small space at the top left corner but leaving a large space that I still can see desktop folders or files in the background. How do I default it so that it autmatically occupy the whole screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAlu 24" 2.4ghz when they first came out with aluminum, got it at the store. since august 07 My imac had a small yellow tint, i noticed, when i got it and it was not worth anyhting screaming about, i also noticed it had bleeding issues ath the bottom and sides. I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point.It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?
How do I minimize a full screen app or game? For example, if I were in a game, that takes up the entire screen, how do I get back to the desktop without exiting the game? Kind of like on Windows, when you open the Start menu while in a game, it brings you back to the desktop.

Then plug in your iPhone. iTunes 8.1.1 no longer expands and pops to the front of your screen! That's really cool! I noticed this in 8.1.1, but it could have been introduced in 8.1, I don't know.

With both functions the program is still running the background, so I don't get the differences other than with using the Red X the application won't be on the dock. Why is one used more over the other, when they basically do the same thing?

The maximum space is just about 500gb but time machine has brought it to 338gb with each backup taking 10-20gb. Is this normal? On my other Mac (an aluminum imac C2D), the backups take roughly 80gb of space and on my MBP im already up to 159gb worth of backups. Is there a way to minimize the size of backups?

I've looked online and it says to enable the option in the video dropmenu in ichat but that is also faded out.
I can't tag applications in Mavericks. I looked at the permissions but everything is grey, I can't change them. However, before Mavericks I had no problem tagging apps.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was just checking out podcasts in the iTunes store now and noticed that they are all grayed out, and that I can't subscribe to any.
I figure this has to do with the fact that I must have removed podcasts from my sidebar at some point.
So I go into preferences to find all of the checkboxes, but podcasts is greyed out there too Therefore I am unable to check it. The only other greyed out option is genius but I'm ok with that
