Applications :: Import Appleworks Database To Address Book?
Jan 30, 2009I have an Appleworks database used for customer info. iWorks doesn't have this feature. (Why, oh why?) Is there a way to export the database to address book? I need the sorting power of a database.
There was a thread on this forum about Bento as an alternative, but I couldn't find a definitive answer. If address book cannot import Appleworks database, can Bento?
In a related matter, I have read of a csv file being used as an intermediate in the process of exporting a database. I can't find a reference to it in Mac Help.

Apr 20, 2009I have AppleWorks on my Mac, and my new line of work (transcription) requires me to receive and send documents in MS Word format; can i just use the 'save as' function to convert the AW doc into a MS Word doc, or are there problems when doing so--such as the text not translating correctly, etc? Wondering if i'll need to buy MS Word for Mac, or if the "Save As" function is enough.

Jan 25, 2010When I try and print an AppleWorks document, instead of the expected black text it comes out as pale grey.
When I do a print preview it is displayed as black, and when I create a PDF from the appleworks document it prints out perfectly.

Oct 8, 2009When I open a document, it opens but without text and the title is grayed out. After 5-7 seconds, the text and title appear but the beach ball starts going and I can't do anything except force quit.This started after an odd incident yesterday. I was working on a document I'll call A. I've been editing this document for a long time. So the file is named A.cwk. I'm not sure how I closed or saved it, but it did not appear on my desktop as usual.

Nov 6, 2009I created an 11X17 poster in iWorks8. When I exported it into a pdf file to take to get it printed, it did not export properly. When I try to open it up on my computer it opens fine. When I transfer it to another computer it only transports some of the graphics and text. The Adobe reader on the PC says there is an error and ask the creator to fix it. Only the Mac does not identify a problem when creating the pdf file.

Applications :: ITunes PDFs Not Seen As Books / Not Recognized When Exporting
Nov 16, 2010I have an iTunes library which contains many PDFs, but for some reason they don't show up in the "Books" library section, but rather in "Music".
The rather cumbersome workaround to this is to drag the PDF files over to the Finder desktop, delete them in iTunes (taking notes of which playlists they belong to etc.) then drag them into iTunes again. This time they magically pop up in the "Books" library section.
I'm hoping there's a simpler way to make PDF files go into the correct library section -is there?
(the reason this is a problem is because I've tried to move (export) my iTunes library to another hard drive, only to find out that all my PDF files were missing! However, I tried to insert (drag from the Finder into iTunes) a PDF file or two (for testing purposes) before exporting, and they all came through fine).

May 12, 2009First, I finally understand "how" iMovie wants to work with audio ducting apposed to iMovie HD. But when a clip, a still to be precise, has no audio option so I can continue to duct it. Sep 25, 2007I'm a coin collector and have mostly American coins, some foreign and other US special collector's coins. I also have some paper money. I've always wanted to prepare a coin database and came up with Liberty Street's Coin Manage and Currency Manager. A year later I'm finally getting to use them but have switched to a Mac. I could use Windows through Parallels but am wondering what Mac solutions are out there.
It appears the company doesn't make a Mac version. I know Filemaker Pro 9 is likely an option but I'm not sure how hard it would be to set up a database.

filemaker pro does this but has many more features that i will not use...

Jul 27, 2010Having some issues with mac mail at work. My mac mail is connected to our exchange server. It is working fine. Ran into a problem today. Mac mail quit for some reason and when I fired it back up, it walked me through the process of configuring mac mail to connect to exchange. The odd thing now is the only mail I see in mac mail is new mail, none of my old previous mail. I see my folder structure that I created (held on exchange), but I cannot seem to figure out why I cannot sync my mail to show my emails in mac mail. Is there a way to clean out the old stuff in mac mail and start fresh?

Nov 26, 2009I am running a Macbook 2.4GHz with 4GB of RAM and Snow Leopard.
I have an issue using Keynote 09.
I have created a presentation that has a m4v video playing in the background.
The video was the first thing I put in and was just placed on the slide and set to play when the presentatation starts.
The video starts at the beginning automatically and plays for the entirity of the presentation. The presentation is only 2 mins long. Over it are a number of different words all with various animations. There is also a music file playing in the background.
I have then recorded the show with manual timings and now when I play it in Keynote it runs smoothly from start to finish. The video continues to play and the transitions are smooth.
HOWEVER, when I then try and export the presentation as a Quicktime file I encounter a problem. The video starts initially at the beginning of the presentation but the minute any other animation kicks in the video freezes and does not restart. I have tried a large variety of export settings but to no avail. I have also spent time trawling the internet to try and solve this problem but no solution found.
It is very frustrating. I need to export it because I need it as a movile file rather than a keynote presentation.
