I have AppleWorks on my Mac, and my new line of work (transcription) requires me to receive and send documents in MS Word format; can i just use the 'save as' function to convert the AW doc into a MS Word doc, or are there problems when doing so--such as the text not translating correctly, etc? Wondering if i'll need to buy MS Word for Mac, or if the "Save As" function is enough.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOne of my editors had starting using OpenOffice and when he sends files to me they arrive in a zip that, when opened has some games and other things and one png file that is a thumbnail of the document, very tiny.
Is there a converter for OpenOffice docs that will open them in Pages (my preference) or Word ?
Any familiar with OpenOffice? Is it necessary to receive a zip file every time from him? He's technically inept and perhaps I can just tell him how to export the proper file.
Sorry if this has been asked before but I would like to convert a PDF file to Word on my Macbook. Is the only option paying for Adobe Professional? I tried using Automator on the Mac but the Word doc was just lines with numbers on it.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to print this document on my notebook pc either wirelessly or through usb connection. I am able to print wirelessly/and or through usb connection on my imac computer. My question is how to do I convert a microsoft word document into a pdf file so I can print this on my imac computer?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try and print an AppleWorks document, instead of the expected black text it comes out as pale grey.
When I do a print preview it is displayed as black, and when I create a PDF from the appleworks document it prints out perfectly.
I have an Appleworks database used for customer info. iWorks doesn't have this feature. (Why, oh why?) Is there a way to export the database to address book? I need the sorting power of a database.
There was a thread on this forum about Bento as an alternative, but I couldn't find a definitive answer. If address book cannot import Appleworks database, can Bento?
In a related matter, I have read of a csv file being used as an intermediate in the process of exporting a database. I can't find a reference to it in Mac Help.
When I open a document, it opens but without text and the title is grayed out. After 5-7 seconds, the text and title appear but the beach ball starts going and I can't do anything except force quit.This started after an odd incident yesterday. I was working on a document I'll call A. I've been editing this document for a long time. So the file is named A.cwk. I'm not sure how I closed or saved it, but it did not appear on my desktop as usual.

I don't have a working 8 MM camcorder anymore, but have lots of old tapes with family footage. Apparantly some Digital8 Camcorders can play back old 8 MM tapes, and then can be transferred digitally to my computer via firewire cable to iMovie or Final Cut Pro. This is what I would prefer to do. However, has anyone done this with a specific camera? I've read that not all Digital8 Cameras play back old 8 MM tapes. Some people say you can't even do it this way. I would like to do this myself so that I can edit my video.

(just gives me a reason to give the lady of the house an excuse to buy one haha) But I was wondering is there any way I can just Rip my dvd's straight to .iso? I figure if i ever need a copy iso would provide me the quick way to make it. I cant find any straight software that rips to iso. Im preferably looking for free software but I wouldn't mind investing 30 bucks or so in a decent app. I also assume if its an iso I should be able to just burn it to a new dvd with Disk Utility. Does anyone know how I can convert the file (as I am aware Mac will not play avi) but to also reduce the file size WITHOUT losing the quality? I know handbrake can convert, but if I do this will the quality be reduced?
