I purchased connect36 and downloaded it, but can't get the zip archive to open. I double click on it and it looks to open, but then no folder appears afterwards and no programs begins.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to get Connect360 setup with my Mac and Box (I promise, I searched). When going through the setup on the Box it gives me a "Setup Key" that I'm supposed to enter when setting up the software on "My PC." I can't get past this screen on the Box. There's no where to enter this key in the Connect360 Preference Pane. When I go into settings on the Box there's an option to test the connection to the PC. This test sees my mac and the connection is successful. Just can't actually get it setup on the Mac.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from Connect 360 to Vuze, mainly because I always had trouble getting Connect 360 to work, and I was only on trial. I deleted all of my Connect 360 folders, and removed it from the preference panel, leaving me with just a Connect360.prefPane sitting in my trash. When I try to empty the trash, I get the following messages:
The operation can't be completed because the item "Connect360Helper" is in use.
The operation can't be completed because the item "NRCommon" is in use.
The operation can't be completed because the item "EDCommon" is in use.
The only applications I have running are Adium, Bowtie, iTunes, Safari, Transmission, and Finder. I thought it might still be linked to finder, so I quit that and tried to empty, still not luck. So I don't think it's being used in any of my applications.
My Connect 360 stopped working. I have made no changes & now my Mac does not detect my Xbox360. I have disabled the access control list & my Mac still does not detect the 360.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy connect360 software stopped working all of a sudden. Latest version of connect360. Macpro running latest version of Leopard with all latest updates. I have two xbox360's, and both of them stopped working at the same time. Connect360 is running on the macpro. It says it is sharing, and sees the xbox popup. Says it is authorized.

It sees the macpro. Sees the directory structure. When I click into a movie, it hangs there for a good 5 minutes. Then finally comes up with PLAY. When I play, it fails with "Lost connection to PC". Movies that were working previously now are not (nothing is working). Recycled router (all pc's, ps3, xboxlive are all working fine), uninstalled/resinstalled connect360. Rebooted a zillion times.
Has anyone used a mba to stream a 1080p movie using connect360 to an xbox 360??
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to sync my 360 with my macbook pro wirelessly. I still haven't decided which program yet, but am leaning towards Rivet for the file structure, but I think Connect360 has more file support.
Anyway, I was wondering if I will have to keep my macbook open for these programs to work. Or if I will be able to access them if my macbook is put away but still on. Or if I can make it so that it doesn't go into sleep mode when I close it so its still running just the screen is closed.
I a new to mac. I am trying to open a ".config" file but I get this error message: "There is no default application specified to open the document xxxx". Normally, on a Windows, I would just force open it with notepad as it conly contain text. How do I do the same with a Mac?

I recently upgraded to a hosted Exchange solution and they offer a download of Entourage 2008 that will allow Exchange Server interaction. When I loaded that version over top of my install, Entourage will not open. It gives me an error about the identity not being able to open the item.
I have macBookPro 15''. When i open my applications, they open separately.
for example, if i am using safari and decide to open itunes the two doesn't overlap. And i want them to overlap. its annoying when im on aim and skype and i have to click the icon every time when someone talks to me. But i can make the applications open overlapping "holding alt/option key and clicking the application at the same time". but this is really annoying.
I'm getting this damn message every time I try to open an app. Every time I open Firefox for instance, I'll get this message...no matter how many times I click on "Open". Can someone help? FYI, I recently bought a 27" iMac and I did download all my apps and installed them instead of migrating using Time Machine.

For example I downloaded wondershare dvd ripper and everytime I open it the disc image shows up on my desktop and I cant eject it without quitting the application. Here is the first issue. It seems that the concept of closing and switching between applications is totally different on a Mac (willing to learn, just totally confused).
I understand from reading a few websites that the only way to actually close an application is to go to file->Close or Command Q... Is this true? I'm OK with keyboard shortcuts but my wife hates them and the extra steps of having to go up top, drop down a menu, and select quit seems kind of silly. What is the difference between the X and the - up top then anyways?
Also (and more importantly), we keep losing windows. For example, we had the Mail application open and started a new message which opened a new window. She then went back to Safari to get a contact. When she went back to the Mail application we landed back on the inbox and the new message window was nowhere to be found. We had to close each window one by one until we found the new message window hiding behind them. There has to be a better way then that .... right?
insight you guys can give me would be great. I'm excited to learn the ways of the Mac and there are a lot of things I like... but sometimes it seems like things are more difficult than they need to be just to be different than a PC (like the X not closing the app).

View 6 Replies View RelatedOn my sister's iBook (12 in, 1.2GHz, running OS X 10.3.9), the Microsoft Office Suite and AppleWorks (possibly others, but I haven't discovered them, so I'm assuming just those two) all refuse to open. If I double-click them or click the Dock icon, they bounce once, then stop. Nothing else happens at all. I've repaired permission, trashed preferences, and reinstalled the applications, all to no avail. This is really weird and annoying, and though she can use Pages for now, she'd like to have those at least operational. Anyone have any ideas? I used to be an Apple Tech, but I don't have the diagnostics I had then, and I haven't seen anything like this anyways, so I don't know where to go from here.

Whenever I get an exe. file I've been just deleting them, because my computer [a G4 PowerPC with OS X 10.4.11 Tiger] can't open such files. For example, on a movie download site, a free torrent downloader was offered, and it said for PC or Mac. Yet when after I downloaded it to my desktop, I found an exe. file. And such files are of no use to me, since my computer can't open them with QuickTime Player or anything else it has. Please tell me how to open exe. files, or how to convert them to something else that my computer can open.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have no idea what happened. Overnight, Preview completely stopped working. When I double click a PDF, it'll bounce around a while in the dock and then the icon will stay there, though without the dot below it indicating that it should be running. When I right-click the icon, it says "Application Not Responding" and gives me the option to force quit it. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.1. I tried deleting the com.apple.preview... file in username/library/preferences and restarting Preview, but that did nothing. Anyone have a clue what went wrong here?

I could then click an icon to open the application in order to either use it or to quit those I would rather not have open and using RAM. Can someone tell me how to identify open applications in OS 10.4 and above? I have tried everything and half suspect it cannot be done as easily as in OS 9.

Over the weekend I had some trouble.
It started with Firefox crashing repeatedly. Each time I tried to reopen it it would crash as soon as a webpage began to load.
I attempted a restart and the problem persisted.
After a couple restarts, the whole OS crashed. First time I saw the message telling me to hold the power button for a restart and then the OS wouldn't load. Each time the machine tried to startup it would freeze and the screen would display some strange terminal-looking text.
I did a reinstall using the OSX CD and immediately updated after everything was working again. Also ran disk repair and it told me everything was fine.
Today everything seemed fine and applications opened perfectly, until I tried opening a PDF I downloaded. The PDF wouldnt open and I realized none of my apps were opening.
When I click on anything it just jumps for a sec or two and stops. This isnt just one app, but all of them. Havent tried a restart yet bc Im fearful I wont be able to open FF once/if I get going again.
Could this be a hard drive problem, even though disk check says everything is OK? I tried the reinstall and that didn't seem to work...
Does Open Office for mac crash for anyone? Frequently? Mine is horrible...in fact, I might even go out and buy Microsoft Office. Open Office for the PC never had problems like this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust recently reinstalled Snow Leopard on my built from scratch Mac. And for some weird reason everything I open in the Preview program is just white. Doesn't matter the file and it shows up in the little finder preview and as the icons.
Has me stumped.
Anybody have any ideas how to fix?
A place I can goto reinstall Preview?
Or perhaps a great alternative for the program? I've heard of JView/JustLooking, any opinions on those two programs?
UPDATE: I take back what I said, it only doesnt seem to open image files like tif/jpg... pdfs apparently work fine in preview. And if I have it on a blank image in preview for too long it will crash.
