View 4 RepliesMy connect360 software stopped working all of a sudden. Latest version of connect360. Macpro running latest version of Leopard with all latest updates. I have two xbox360's, and both of them stopped working at the same time. Connect360 is running on the macpro. It says it is sharing, and sees the xbox popup. Says it is authorized.
On the xbox..
It sees the macpro. Sees the directory structure. When I click into a movie, it hangs there for a good 5 minutes. Then finally comes up with PLAY. When I play, it fails with "Lost connection to PC". Movies that were working previously now are not (nothing is working). Recycled router (all pc's, ps3, xboxlive are all working fine), uninstalled/resinstalled connect360. Rebooted a zillion times.
I read that it's only possible to rent HD in Apple TV, but what form of HD is the rental? Does it support 1080p? If so, how long does it take to download and prepare of movie of this sort?
View 24 Replies View RelatedAs you've probably already gathered, the 1080p piece of info doesn't show up in the side info bar on movie pages. This can be seen here:Also, I have set 1080p in preferences: This is for the movie "Hugo", by the way. I use it as an example, as I've seen it say 1080p in part the following video:

I recently got an XBox 360 and wanted to stream music and movie files to my Xbox. Somebody pointed to Connect360, which works great: [URL]. Due to the fact that I only have 250 Gb on my iMac hard drive, I decided to keep my movie files on a 500 Gb external hard drive. With Connect360, I can't stream files from the hard drive. I tried creating aliases to both the folder and to individual files. The only files that will stream to my XBox are files residing on the iMac hard drive.
1) Folder aliases are not detected by the XBox.
2) File aliases are detected by the XBox but will not play. The error message is something along the lines of an unsupported media format (I'm not at home right now), despite the fact that a copy of the exact same file will play if it's on the iMac.
Would creating the symlink in a Unix command prompt make any difference?
I just bought my first Apple product, an i-Mac 21.5. I love it except that a loud fan turns on after streaming a movie (netflix) after about an hour. If I simply turn off the computer for 5 minutes the fan turns off and I can resume streaming without the fan. - This has happened repeatedly in the week that I've owned the i-mac. I took it back to my Apple store for a checkup and they told me nothing was wrong. - Is this normal for new i-macs?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to sync my 360 with my macbook pro wirelessly. I still haven't decided which program yet, but am leaning towards Rivet for the file structure, but I think Connect360 has more file support.
Anyway, I was wondering if I will have to keep my macbook open for these programs to work. Or if I will be able to access them if my macbook is put away but still on. Or if I can make it so that it doesn't go into sleep mode when I close it so its still running just the screen is closed.
I'm trying to get Connect360 setup with my Mac and Box (I promise, I searched). When going through the setup on the Box it gives me a "Setup Key" that I'm supposed to enter when setting up the software on "My PC." I can't get past this screen on the Box. There's no where to enter this key in the Connect360 Preference Pane. When I go into settings on the Box there's an option to test the connection to the PC. This test sees my mac and the connection is successful. Just can't actually get it setup on the Mac.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased connect36 and downloaded it, but can't get the zip archive to open. I double click on it and it looks to open, but then no folder appears afterwards and no programs begins.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from Connect 360 to Vuze, mainly because I always had trouble getting Connect 360 to work, and I was only on trial. I deleted all of my Connect 360 folders, and removed it from the preference panel, leaving me with just a Connect360.prefPane sitting in my trash. When I try to empty the trash, I get the following messages:
The operation can't be completed because the item "Connect360Helper" is in use.
The operation can't be completed because the item "NRCommon" is in use.
The operation can't be completed because the item "EDCommon" is in use.
The only applications I have running are Adium, Bowtie, iTunes, Safari, Transmission, and Finder. I thought it might still be linked to finder, so I quit that and tried to empty, still not luck. So I don't think it's being used in any of my applications.
My Connect 360 stopped working. I have made no changes & now my Mac does not detect my Xbox360. I have disabled the access control list & my Mac still does not detect the 360.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhich one better handles HD video, the dedicated Intel HD or the nVidia 330M?
I watch a lot of HD video on my i5 and it mostly handles it without a hiccup but on occasion there is some slight stuttering when there is fast motion (with 1080p, the 720p stuff is handled well)...I think the default chip for most video is the Intel HD but I would think the nVidia would better handle these bigger files...any thoughts?
(of course with battery use I know the nVidia is a resourse/energy hog)
Basically I want to watch high definition videos on my 42" hdtv so I bought the mini display port to hdmi adapter. When I play the videos with VLC I notice choppiness when things move too fast across the screen. Is this a limitation of the hardware (the integrated GPU?) Anyway I can perhaps smooth it out?

If I reduce the reslution to 1920x1080p the video plays smoothly. Do I lose any image quality for playing the video when the moniter isnt set to its native resolution?

I have a lot of 1080p movies that i do not want to delete and i need more space on my external hard disk so i have to convert them to 720p. I used quick time player to convert them but it does not work so any application that i can use for this?

Will only having 2gb of RAM pose a problem for 1080p HD content I will only upgrade to 4G if it is absolutely necessary , as I hate Apple have now locked down user upgradable RAM on this notebook.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI want to buy a new MacBook Pro. I was wondering how much profit I would get out of bumping my processor speed. I do a lot of movie encoding or however you call it. (How much faster would it go with a new processor?) How fast a processor do I need to be able to watch 1080p movies natively on the screen (or what other specs)? And on a 24" external display? I'm wondering because on my current build I am not able to watch a 720p movie without the movie jamming every five seconds.
View 13 Replies View RelatedIm thinking about getting a mbp 13" and i was wondering how well it edits and renders 1080p video. i currently edit and render on my 2007 mb and it takes 3 hours just for the render, plus it freezes for a few seconds here and there scrolling through the video. so we will say 4 hours total 1 hour to edit 7 min clip and 3 hours or more to render it. what my question is does anyone out there edit and render 1080p video with there 9400m and if so about how long does it take. and how long the video was that you rendered. the reason im asking only about 1080p is that my mb can work fine with 720p and it has the igpu for intel the x3100. also i mainly shoot in 1080p/60 frames per sec.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhy can't you play 1080p video on a macbook pro or mac mini? This means you have to sync files which are over 1GB in size one at a time to the new ipad just to view them and this takes a long time. When at home, I use itunes via a macbook pro/mac mini for all my multi media connect to my TV, now I have GB's of files I cannot watch at home.
It kind of defeats the object, there is not enough space on an ipad to hold much HD content, certainly I will not be buying anymore HD video files from itunes for this reason. I am dissapointed to have wasted money on 1080p videos that I have to sync one at a time to a new ipad just to watch them. The new ipad screen is great but surely we need the option to watch 1080p HD video on out TV too? The crazy thing is that itunes/quicktime can easily handle 1080p video which is not from the itunes store so Apple must be deliberately restricting itunes bought 1080p HD video to the new ipad.

Yesterday I bought my first Mac (13 inch mid 2014 retina macbook pro). But now I have a question. When I want to watch a video on youtube, the highest quality I can choose is 720p. And I know these videos can be viewed in higher qualities (1080p or higher). Even on my girlfriends macbook pro (13 inch non retina) I can view these videos in 1080p. I took a print screen to show you what I mean.

Is this normal? When watching a 1080p movie on my mbp, in order for it to play smoothly with no dropped frames etc, I have to close everything except for VLC. I have to close mail, itunes, I mean everything except for VLC. Is this normal? otherwise I will get many dropped frames every 5 min or so.

1) Is it theoretically correct the 13'' can't display 1080p hd movies because there aren't enough pixels available?
2) Are 720p movies more suited for the 13''?
3) I'm currently using XBMC and AVS Video Converter, does XBMC perform better on certain video format? I still don't know which video format should i play HD movies on my mac
4) Can the current mbp 15'' play full HD movies (1080p)?
My current convert output setting: HD Video 720p H.264/AVC.
I am running video to a 40" RCA 1080P television via a HDMI to DVI cable from my Macbook Pro. The laptop has a GeForce 8600M GT GPU and has the capability to run 1080P. However, when I port a video (been trying with DVD Player) the image becomes pretty distorted. Is this a limitation of my laptops GPU or something else?
