I am trying to access a website [URL] and in Safari I receive "Safari can't find the server" error message. In mozilla I am able to goto the home page but if I click on any of the links I receive "server not found" error message. I have not run into this problem with any other sites and was wondering why this is happening.
View 7 RepliesI don't get any error message, just a blank page showing nothing. I don't get no time-out message or anything. I have Mac OS 10.5.8 and Safari 5.0.2 and I have tried deleting the cookies and resetting the cache.
Besides I also noticed that while trying to load [URL] the page won't load but I can see the source code.
Everytime I go to the MLB page of ESPN, Safari loads the page, then beachballs. I then have to force quit the application.
This seems to happen on pages that have video.

When I start Safari in three of four accounts, the home page just blinks trying to open, but it never does. Safari works just fine in only one account.

Safari and Chrome do not open web pages any more, even it is connected to internet. What can I do?, I have the FUSION installed in my Mac Book and I´m using it now, Chrome does get connected to internet from windows.

Preview is a perfectly fine pdf reader (and with lots of very nice features) but I don't see how I can make Preview open a pdf from a web page until it has been downloaded to file. And I have found at least one site that will not download to file before opening.

I have a website that I need to open with Safari as it won't display properly in Firefox 3.6.3. From the Address Bar in Safari, I dragged a link to my desktop, right-clicked and checked it to always open with Safari. The name of the link is something like "PITA.webloc"
When it opens that first time, it dose open in Safari, but subsequently, always opens in FF. I also right-clicked to "Get Info" and indicated it to always open with Safari. While "Get Info" shows that correctly, it still always opens in FF.
I recently "upgraded" to Snow Leopard and Quicktime X. Since then, there has been one increasingly annoying problem: Anytime a webpage has a movie (more specifically, a movie with its own URL), it opens it up with QT in the browser and automatically starts playing the movie. Despite deleting QT X and reverting to QT 7, the problem persists, no matter the browser (I have 4).
So 2 questions:1. Why is it that this was NOT a problem at all in Tiger (simply disabled the autoplay in QT, worked for everything), but is a huge problem in Snow Leopard?
2. More importantly, how do I fix it without writing a Terminal script that is the length of War and Peace?
I am using skillport as a portal to continue my foreign language training through Rosetta Stone. I am using a MBP. Safari can not access the site but mozilla is able to with no problems. My good friend has an imac and his safari will access the site with no issues. I have un-installed safari and re-installed it with updates. I have no clue what is going on. I can continue to use Mozilla but I paid to use my MBP with Safari.

For example, when writing a long email in gmail, I want to look for a certain word I wrote somewhere in the middle. Firefox dynamically includes all the text that is present on the page (as opposed to just what's in the source of the page) and I'm wondering if there is a way to do that with Safari.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my mac always resets my 'open with' preferences if I restart my computer.
So for instance, even if I go through the usual route of selecting a program as the default player (select file/get info/open with/change all), as soon as I restart my mac it will always revert back to the default players and not the newly selected one.
Is there a work around? A setting in OSX which im missing? Or perhaps a third party app which can handle this?
On Safari, it keeps giving me error messages saying "Safari Webpage Preview Fetcher has quit unexpectedly" and "QTKit has quit unexpectedly". Sometimes every few seconds. I tried using a "MultiSafari" v.4.0.5 and it does the same thing. I suspect it is because of deleting the contents of the Caches folder (which I do regularly, but never had problems with).

View 2 Replies View RelatedCan I "push"/ "force" Safari to open at login, to a specific page? Is this possible? I have been asked to get all client macs to open to the enterprise Intranet site at login so that news/service updates are put in front of the clients automatically...In WGM I can configure for users or Machines to open Safari at login, and it does this, but does not open the specified Homepage until they Command-n or click for New Window.Likewise if I sit at the client machine and configure Safari to run at login, again the application does activate, but needs client to call up a new page before Homepage shows.Â

i saw on a video of some guys dock. and instead of the stock blue light under the applications that are open, he had an actual blue glowing circle under it....looked really cool. anyone know where or how i can customize this feature on the dock?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had a lot of problems in the past with the generic OS X Mail app. I've been unable to send, or receive, or both. I've tried just about every combination of ports, settings, etc., suggested to me on the Apple Discussions site. But all to no avail. So, I've finally ditched OS X Mail and installed Mozilla's Thunderbird. Now, using identical settings to those tried in OS X Mail, I can send, receive, and do just about anything I like. Except. Thunderbird will not import my Address Book! My Address Book is the standard Mac OS X Address Book. I have tried saving v-cards, saving the whole book, etc, but when I try to import to Thunderbird, I just get a bunch of blank v-cards or nothing at all. Step by step guide please. I'm sure this must be both possible and easy. I must just be missing some single vital step.

I just updated my mozilla firefox to the new version and it deleted all of my bookmarks. I didn't think it was a big deal because I could just re add them. When I restarted the application after re adding all of them they just deleted again. I deleted firefox and re downloaded it but it still keeps deleting my bookmarks when I restart it.

But i couldn't open any websites on either of my browsers (mozilla, safari) and when i used the diagnostic it said that the internet, isp and network were working but that the Internet and Server have failed.
Can anyone help me with nthis new perdicament? I read somewhere that maybe i should swap the eth0 and eth1? Make one internal while the other external? I'm not sure if this applies
I'm using a macbook and am connecting to a dormitory internet. I had to give them my Ethernet ID and they gave me a password and a login which i still am not too sure what to do with. When i use the PPPoE version my network settings/internet/server fail.
I was wondering if there was any simply way of setting a repetitive task of checking a certain page at certain times each day. (Like every hour or so).

I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
