OS X :: How To Automatically Open Webpage At Certain Time
Jul 23, 2009I was wondering if there was any simply way of setting a repetitive task of checking a certain page at certain times each day. (Like every hour or so).

View 3 RepliesI recently "upgraded" to Snow Leopard and Quicktime X. Since then, there has been one increasingly annoying problem: Anytime a webpage has a movie (more specifically, a movie with its own URL), it opens it up with QT in the browser and automatically starts playing the movie. Despite deleting QT X and reverting to QT 7, the problem persists, no matter the browser (I have 4).
So 2 questions:1. Why is it that this was NOT a problem at all in Tiger (simply disabled the autoplay in QT, worked for everything), but is a huge problem in Snow Leopard?
2. More importantly, how do I fix it without writing a Terminal script that is the length of War and Peace?
I have tried using automator to load a webpage, click links and then log out. I for some reason cannot get it to work.
I used the recorder function to do this as I was unsure how to do it any other way.
I need to be able to get it to run at set amounts of time.
My wife has been having issues with Safari suddenly reverting to previous pages without being prompted. She will be writing an email and suddenly it will go back to a previous page with the resulting loss of text already typed. It has happened with email, Facebook, as well as during simple surfing.Â

After setting my Built-in Ethernet card to DHCP today, for some reason it all of a sudden got an ip adress and became green and stated that it was connected.
But i couldn't open any websites on either of my browsers (mozilla, safari) and when i used the diagnostic it said that the internet, isp and network were working but that the Internet and Server have failed.
Can anyone help me with nthis new perdicament? I read somewhere that maybe i should swap the eth0 and eth1? Make one internal while the other external? I'm not sure if this applies
I'm using a macbook and am connecting to a dormitory internet. I had to give them my Ethernet ID and they gave me a password and a login which i still am not too sure what to do with. When i use the PPPoE version my network settings/internet/server fail.
my webpage often sticks around the end of the www's and does not open

View 13 Replies View RelatedI heard about a software a few weeks ago where you could set it up so that a certain link always opens in a certain browser. I didn't need it at the time, but now I could really use it, and I can't remember what it was called!
View 3 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I have removed Acrobat Reader 10.3.1 because it conflicts with Safari. Preview is a perfectly fine pdf reader (and with lots of very nice features) but I don't see how I can make Preview open a pdf from a web page until it has been downloaded to file. And I have found at least one site that will not download to file before opening.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't get any error message, just a blank page showing nothing. I don't get no time-out message or anything. I have Mac OS 10.5.8 and Safari 5.0.2 and I have tried deleting the cookies and resetting the cache.
Besides I also noticed that while trying to load [URL] the page won't load but I can see the source code.
Everytime I go to the MLB page of ESPN, Safari loads the page, then beachballs. I then have to force quit the application.
This seems to happen on pages that have video.

I am trying to access a website [URL] and in Safari I receive "Safari can't find the server" error message. In mozilla I am able to goto the home page but if I click on any of the links I receive "server not found" error message. I have not run into this problem with any other sites and was wondering why this is happening.

It sounds weird, but is important.
Every time I start up, one folder automatically opens. It's called "Transport manager" and there's nothing in there that I uae. For the first few months, I would automatically close it, but it' getting irritating now. why it's opening, and how to stop it?

So I would like to have my files open automatically once there downloaded, be it .pdf, .ppt or .doc.
Is there some setting that i need to change of Firefox (though I have looked) to make this happen
Pretty Self explanatory. I want to Click one program, and have that program and another open at the same time. In my case, When I open iTunes, I want Bowtie to open also.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got this problem that I need to try and solve for a client at work. They've got us to design a sort of media player application in Flash that allows the user to select any of their project videos to watch.
Now, the problem. They want this application to be distributed on a USB stick. They also want the application to automatically run when the USB is plugged in. Now, on Windows machines, this is easy enough. My problem is that I have no idea how to do this on a Mac.
I'm aware that Macs don't have the same AutoRun capabilities as Windows does. What I'm wondering, in the absence of being able to run the application automatically, is it possible to have Finder automatically open up a new window to the directory where the app is stored? Or, better yet, is it possible for Finder to automatically open up some sort of customized window (similar to the ones that pop up when you run an installer package), that just provides a shortcut to the application?
Obviously I need the solution to be common across multiple computers (so any solution that involves changing system settings or the like isn't really useful for me).
Is what I'm trying to do even possible? My knowledge is limited on the matter. I'm actually a video editor. Don't ask me why I've been put in charge of doing this, because I'm sort of wondering that myself.
At startup applications automatically open. How can I disable this?
