When I surf the web, I click on interesting links every once and a while, sometimes they end up being files and Safari automatically downloads it, how do I make it ask me before it goes downloading wildly?

Safari and Chrome do not open web pages any more, even it is connected to internet. What can I do?, I have the FUSION installed in my Mac Book and I´m using it now, Chrome does get connected to internet from windows.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI heard about a software a few weeks ago where you could set it up so that a certain link always opens in a certain browser. I didn't need it at the time, but now I could really use it, and I can't remember what it was called!
View 3 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I have removed Acrobat Reader 10.3.1 because it conflicts with Safari. Preview is a perfectly fine pdf reader (and with lots of very nice features) but I don't see how I can make Preview open a pdf from a web page until it has been downloaded to file. And I have found at least one site that will not download to file before opening.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't get any error message, just a blank page showing nothing. I don't get no time-out message or anything. I have Mac OS 10.5.8 and Safari 5.0.2 and I have tried deleting the cookies and resetting the cache.
Besides I also noticed that while trying to load [URL] the page won't load but I can see the source code.
Everytime I go to the MLB page of ESPN, Safari loads the page, then beachballs. I then have to force quit the application.
This seems to happen on pages that have video.

I am trying to access a website [URL] and in Safari I receive "Safari can't find the server" error message. In mozilla I am able to goto the home page but if I click on any of the links I receive "server not found" error message. I have not run into this problem with any other sites and was wondering why this is happening.

Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.) Network diagnostcs says that im connected to the intermet.
2) Also safari and chrome take ages to load pages when every time I open them (around 45 seconds) and then when they are running safari will randomly close and chrome will come up with the aw snap message for random pages (doesnt matter if its trying to loas flash or not).
Iv got Sophos anti virus which is saying theres no malware or viruses, also tried restartiing, re downloading chrome, deleteing my profile from chrome, exporting, deleting and then importing bookmarks and hardwiring the latop to the router.

First, I am fully aware of the two plug-ins that have both of these features. SafariStand and Glims. I'd prefer not to use SafariStand, and I don't want to use Glims (buggy). I'm not here to debate their merits. The features I want are for Safari's download manager to close automatically, and for all links to automatically open in new tabs.
What I'm wondering is: are there any other plug-ins that offer these features for Safari 4 running Snow Leopard? Are there any tweaks to the system that don't involve plug-ins? As in, are there some terminal commands that can emulate these settings somehow?
Is there a way to stop PDF's from opening inside of Safari? I figure there is some type of solution to this but I can't be bothered to figure it out myself as I have wasted too much too much time on it already.

I don't know if this is properly autofill or autocomplete - the two overlap too much anyway so I'm not wasting brain cells trying to come up with a distinction that makes sense to non-engineers. ANYWAY. Here's the point.Â
I'm on my bank website. My login is xtnjohnson -- just like here. Only I mistyped it once, so in autofill/autocomplete (whichever it is), I get a little drop-down showing two options: xtnjohnson or xtnjohson. Â
I want to delete only the second option. I recall at sometime finding a very simple way that involved highlighting the offending entry and hitting either control-delete, shift-delete, command-delete, or function-delete, only I can't seem to get any of those combinations to work. And of course I can't find the thread anymore.Â
The solution did *not* involve dealing with the autofill preferences in *any* way -- I've seen that option and it doesn't help (a) because there's no quick way to find the website where the problem is occurring (my list is long), (b) even when I go through my list, I don't see my bank's url, (c) the place for entering my login appears to be in something like JavaScript, so I'm not sure it'd be tracked in one of those lists, and (d) I don't know that this is properly an "autofill" problem anyway.Â

My computer has recently started auto dimming when in darker rooms of the house, i know its an issue with the light sensor because I've held a flashlight to it and it instantly brightens, however, i have unchecked the "automatically adjust brightness" box in the system settings and it continues to dim it's self even when unchecked and brightness is on full. It isn't the result of any recent updates, as there haven't been any in some time and it's only started in the last two weeks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since the last security update, I have been having trouble with the text in part of a web page becoming garbled. It happens when I am scrolling through a page. I can fix it by highlighting the text and it will go away. It remains legible after I take the highlighting away. It does not happen every time I scroll, but it does happen randomly throughout the day. I have owned my Macbook for almost a year and this problem has only come up since the last security update.

I had saved a webpage on the Safari Reading List. I pulled it up, read a little, and saw it disappeared from the Reading List. I had ot finished reading it, so I decided to re-save it to the list, but the Add Page button on the Reading List window was greyed out. Nothing I did would change the greyed out button to make it functional.Â

I have a second internal harddrive, which I only rarely use, but it mounts every time I boot. What do I need to do to stop it from auto mounting at boot?
One way is to edit /etc/fstab, but I'm not sure what exactly I have to do.
I have set up an autoforward on my .mac account a long time ago! I am trying to delete or stop it and cant find where or how to do it.
by the way there are no set rules in mail preferences!
I was browsing a webpage with Safari when suddenly this really loud screeching sound came from my Macbook Air. I am not talking about the small clicks the HD seems to be doing once in a while. This was a very loud screeching sound, like someone cutting glass with a diamond. I didn't have any other programs on and my speakers were off. The sound lasted for about 2 seconds and got me very scared. I immediately checked the temperatures and fanspeeds but they were all normal (CPU around 45 celcius and fan about 2500 rpm). Now I'm afraid that it was my HD and it will fail on me sooner or later. Everything seems to be work normally now but I already sent all my important documents to another computer.
View 24 Replies View RelatedWhen I play an embedded video in a web page in Safari, it invariably halts and starts repeatedly (not the audio.. it goes on smoothly while the video pauses then resumes in a few seconds in sync with the audio, then this repeats in a few seconds).
