I have archived tons of email messages from my Yahoo mailbox. I got this as a zip and folder with several .eml files. I was wondering how do I import these? I tried dragging it but that didn't work! Neither there is an option to import eml messages in mail. I can open the eml messages though. I cannot import them!
View 5 RepliesIs there away to import mail account settings from Thunderbird and/or Outlook Express into Mail? [that is mail.app, to help any one searching later on as Mail is too common a word to search for]. I've imported all my messages correctly but don't know how or if it's possible to import my account settings. Also: I'm in the process of migrating all my e-mails / mail accounts / settings and mail rules from Outlook Express to Mail [Mail.app]. I have successfully got all my e-mails across. I have also managed to convert all the e-mail addresses in the 50+ mail rules, as stored in the Windows registry, from hex into text.
Some of my rules have tens of e-mail addresses which if I had to add in each address separately would be a nightmare. Is there away of block adding in e-mail addresses to Mail? Also is it possible to manually edit the mail rules preference file(s) and insert the e-mail addresses into that? I'm aware I have to manually recreate the rules themselves but that's not so difficult. It's the adding back in of all the e-mail addresses that might be, given the large number that exist.
I have downloaded Outlook to Mac Mail software to convert all my emails into .mbox format. However when I try to import them, Apple Mail detects my Sent Items and Outbox, but not my Inbox. When I try to import Inbox alone from a folder, it shows 'no valid mbox files', but my Entourage is able to import all my .mbox folders. On a side note, the .mbox files actually shows as a Microsoft Entourage folder with the Entourage file type icon there. Is this why Apple Mail cannot import it?

View 8 Replies View RelatedTo cut a long story short I have a CSV Excel Databse of email addresses that I would like to email. I follow the instructions to import them into The Address Book in order to add them to my contacts but keep getting the following message. The file you selected does not appear to be a valid comma separated values (csv) file nor a valid tab delimited file, please choose another file. Is their something I am missing? In the excel file I have saved the file as CSV, there is just one column of approx 1000 email addresses. I then go to address book, file, import text file and can select the file I want. Then the error message appears. Is there any other way of doing this? Presume web mail providers wont have an import capability?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 (Apple Mail and Entourage) clients storing 3 months of emails each and I want to merge them into Gmail. The messages no longer exist on the web-based servers and I heard IMAP might be in handy for transfering the messages to an online acct then transfering to gmail.
Any idea of how to do this with Entourage or Apple Mail?
BTW, they're both from the same email address, I just changed providors (hosting/email) during the 6 month period.
I am moving from my exchange server... and use entourage 2008... since i dont have exchange any more theres no need to use the buggy entourage... so in entourage i copied all my folders (mail) from exchange to local.
then i set up apple mail - added all my imap accounts (which are in addition to to my old exchange account).
If apple mail supported exchange i would simply connect to it and move my folders local - but alas its not supported yet - and i cant wait for the update.
so i imported from the import menu (using the entourage option).
It all looked good (i have a lot of mail - so it took several hours).... I clicked on a random message on of the imported folders... its blank... subject, from etc are there in the columns - but the message is blank -- tried another - blank..
I have the newest version of Apple Mail and I am syncing it with an IMAP account. Everything works fine so far. I had to delete all my mails on the provider server because I reached the storage limit. So I saved all my mails on my mac from the apple mail first and then I deleted all my mails on the server. After deleting all mails on the server, I putted back my old mails into APPLE MAIL, but it immediately deleted all my mails in APPLE MAIL after syncing with the server. So my question. How can I place my old mails back into APPLE MAIL without it deleting my local mails when it is syncing with the server?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not changing back to a Windows user, it's just that I *need* to get my contacts onto Outlook 2007 as well. My contacts in Entourage are organized nicely, with each contact's name and e-mail address. Really simple information. I then go to "Export", and choose to export the contacts to a "tab-delimited text" file (it's my only choice). Basically, I get this .txt file. I then go to my Outlook 2007, and have tried importing both "Comma Separated Values" and "Tab Separated Values" with my .txt file. Unfortunately, while each contact's name and e-mail DO get imported, the format is completely messed up. I get this "map field" window when I choose to import by Tab Separated Values, but I've tried all different combinations, and every time, the names and e-mails simply jumble up altogether. Has anyone tried importing Entourage contacts into Outlook 2007? And if so, can you please give me some instructions on how to do so?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I have all of my imovie projects backed up on my external harddrive, as well as the imovie program. I accidentally deleted all of the imovie projects and events from the imovie application on my laptop. When I try to re-import the imovie files into imovie, it doesn't recognize the files. I have tried to convert them with iSkySoft Video Converter. That converter program does not recognize the files either. I also tried burning the files onto a disc and then pulling them off the disc with the Handbrake program. This doesn't work either. I also tried importing the files into iMovie HD, which I have on my desktop, but to no avail. Are these files alll useless now? I'm at my wits end because I have spent literally months compiling footage for a documentary.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried doing several things such as flattening the images, changing the resolution, using different file formats. I tried making the images exactly 1920 by 1080 which someone mentioned was the px dimensions that imovie uses and that didn't work.
The only time the image seems clearer is when I go to show photo settings, which is weird.
These images were originally raws so I can make them whatever size is needed for imovie. I just need to know what it likes best!
I was thinking I might not be rendering them properly. I imported it into idvd and it rendered it that way. Is there another way I can do it maybe?
My problem its pretty simple. When I choose "Desktop folder" as destination to import/export in my applications, the entire app freezes.
For example: If i want to open a photo which are in "desktop" with photoshop with the "Open..." option, the "choose destination" pop-up window that appear freezes and I have to Force Quit. If i choose another folder, nothing happens.Â

I don't get this. With Gmail, ok, when you delete a message it goes to All Mail...even though you want it deleted...whatever. Now, I've deleted EVERY SINGLE MESSAGE in EVERY SINGLE INBOX in mail and I still have messages from May 09-Present in my Library/Mail folder! What is this and what, oh lawd, do I do about it?! I am tired of all of these damned images on my drive that I wanted nothing to do with, just because they were sent along some spammer's mail!

-Used Data Rescue II to recover them.
-Data Rescue II gave me a bunch of .mbox files (1.88 gigs)
-When I import the mbox files into Mail - Mail crashes, and what does end up getting into Mail is illegible - encrypted or something.
-I tried importing fewer at a time but Mail still crashes.
I finally updated to new MBP (Retina display) from an old Powerbook running 10.5.3. I am finding that none of the PPC-based programs will run (but you already knew that), with the biggest problem being that I cannot import my mail. If I could get this to work, I believe I could work around everything else.
I was using Entourage 2004 (mainly because it could handle a huge Db -- which kept crashing Mail). I am really at a loss at what to do. Some of the potential fixes I've thought of is trying to download a newer version of Entourage on my old PB, import everything to that, and then move that over to the new MBP. But then again, many of the newer programs will not work on the 10.5.3 OS. I don't even have a problem using a different email client, or perhaps even web-based mail, but I need all of my "old" emails in one place that I can work from.

I would like to write an AppleScript that would save an attachment (a .txt file) from Mail to my desktop. (Then in turn, I will make a rule in Mail that will run this script when certain conditions are met in the email). I'm sure it's probably very simple, but I have been playing around with the script editor for a few hours now and still can't figure it out. Needless to say, I am new to scripting.

- Double-Clicking each mp3 file
- Dragging the mp3 file into the iTunes window and the iTunes Dock icon
- Choosing 'Add to Library' from the file menu

I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8. My friend gave me a USB with some songs on it. These songs work fine on his Windows OS. This is a step-by-step of what I did to try open the .mp3 files.
-I double click the .mp3 files.
-iTunes opens but songs are not imported.
-I drag and drop files into library but nothing happens. No error message.
-I plug in iPod, drag files straight to iPod to bypass iTunes library.
-ERROR "cannot be played on this iPod".
-I'm beginning to suspect viruses or corrupt files.
-I open up .mp3 files in Quicktime. They play fine.
-I try VLC player, RealPlayer and Finder's Quick Look. They all play fine.
Apparently iTunes is the only player (that I have) that will not open these .mp3 files. It's not that I'm desperate to listen to these tunes, but I'm desperate to see if anything is wrong with my iTunes or computer.
I thought itunes automatically converts the wma files on my macbook to aac or a format that it can play. I have a lot of music on my macbook but these are all wma files so can't add them to itunes library.
