OS X :: Any Way To Import PST Files Into Thunderbird On Mac?
Oct 15, 2009
I lost all my emails in my inbox and sent mail, but luckily i had them backed up as .pst files. Problem is I need to import the pst. files into Thunderbird on my mac. Does anyone know how to do this? If so can you please explain in detail the steps I need to complete an import. Here is what I have to work with Mac ibook G4, running osx 10.4.11, and Mozilla Thunderbird version 2.0.0.21.
I used Thunderbird in Windows, and want to carry over my inbox archive to my new iMac. Can OS X's Mail program import that inbox archive so that my 100+ past email messages are included as Mail's inbox?
Is there away to import mail account settings from Thunderbird and/or Outlook Express into Mail? [that is mail.app, to help any one searching later on as Mail is too common a word to search for]. I've imported all my messages correctly but don't know how or if it's possible to import my account settings. Also: I'm in the process of migrating all my e-mails / mail accounts / settings and mail rules from Outlook Express to Mail [Mail.app]. I have successfully got all my e-mails across. I have also managed to convert all the e-mail addresses in the 50+ mail rules, as stored in the Windows registry, from hex into text.
Some of my rules have tens of e-mail addresses which if I had to add in each address separately would be a nightmare. Is there away of block adding in e-mail addresses to Mail? Also is it possible to manually edit the mail rules preference file(s) and insert the e-mail addresses into that? I'm aware I have to manually recreate the rules themselves but that's not so difficult. It's the adding back in of all the e-mail addresses that might be, given the large number that exist.
Just upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks 10.9.3 on a 2012 Mac Mini 4 core. When attempting to add an attachment to an email, both Mac Mail and Thunderbird start with the spinning beachball and never recover. Force Quit is the only option. Even after that, the Finder has strange screen artifacts left over from Mail (attach file dialog box) and Finder must be relaunched as well.Â
Dragging and dropping files works okay with Mac Mail. This option does not exist when using Thunderbird, so no workaround available for that App. Also, Mac Mail only gets stuck when attempting to attach files on the desktop. Files from other locations attach OK.Â
Already tried Repair Permissions, Repair Disk, Reinstalled Mavericks with no change. For now, I have gone back to Mountain Lion since this is a deal breaker, even though everything else seems to work ok (except for the occasional brief spinning beach ball).
I've just upgraded my 1.83 C2D Macmini HDD from the stock 80gb HDD to a Seagate 500gb 7200rpm HDD, I renstalled OSX 10.5 now I want all my files and settings off my 80gb HDD. Is the a way I can to do this using a USB HDD enclosure with my old 80gb HDD inside hooked up to my mini?
So, I have all of my imovie projects backed up on my external harddrive, as well as the imovie program. I accidentally deleted all of the imovie projects and events from the imovie application on my laptop. When I try to re-import the imovie files into imovie, it doesn't recognize the files. I have tried to convert them with iSkySoft Video Converter. That converter program does not recognize the files either. I also tried burning the files onto a disc and then pulling them off the disc with the Handbrake program. This doesn't work either. I also tried importing the files into iMovie HD, which I have on my desktop, but to no avail. Are these files alll useless now? I'm at my wits end because I have spent literally months compiling footage for a documentary.
I have archived tons of email messages from my Yahoo mailbox. I got this as a zip and folder with several .eml files. I was wondering how do I import these? I tried dragging it but that didn't work! Neither there is an option to import eml messages in mail. I can open the eml messages though. I cannot import them!
I want to edit a video file that is in avi format on iMovie since I don't have any other video editing software and figure that I'll make some use out of the program. But when I go to File > Import Movies. I can import .mov files, but not avi?
I've got a folder containing 11 mp3 audio tracks that for some reason won't import into iTunes. I've tried the following: - Double-Clicking each mp3 file - Dragging the mp3 file into the iTunes window and the iTunes Dock icon - Choosing 'Add to Library' from the file menu
mp3 track information: Channel Count 1 Total Bit Rate 288,000
I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8. My friend gave me a USB with some songs on it. These songs work fine on his Windows OS. This is a step-by-step of what I did to try open the .mp3 files. -I double click the .mp3 files. -iTunes opens but songs are not imported. -I drag and drop files into library but nothing happens. No error message. -I plug in iPod, drag files straight to iPod to bypass iTunes library. -ERROR "cannot be played on this iPod". -I'm beginning to suspect viruses or corrupt files. -I open up .mp3 files in Quicktime. They play fine. -I try VLC player, RealPlayer and Finder's Quick Look. They all play fine.
Apparently iTunes is the only player (that I have) that will not open these .mp3 files. It's not that I'm desperate to listen to these tunes, but I'm desperate to see if anything is wrong with my iTunes or computer.
I thought itunes automatically converts the wma files on my macbook to aac or a format that it can play. I have a lot of music on my macbook but these are all wma files so can't add them to itunes library.
Using iMovie, I imported 15 minutes length of video from HANDYCAM SONY HDR-SR11 (Hard Disc type), everything looks good as the indicator also saying something like "completed importing 15 minutes of video". However the clip was not even created on the Event. I also tried to do the same for 1 Hour video, ended up the same. I click on the Event and It says 'No matching video. Choose a different option from the Show pop-up menu at the lower left corner'. I choose different option but still can not see the clips with any options at all.
The facts : 1. I have no issue with importing shorter clips ( eg : 5 minutes ) 2. The disc space is totally enough. 3. Importing from my old handycam canon ( MiniDV type ) has no issue at all.
I am expecting delivery of my first Mac on Wednesday. I have been using Outlook 2003 for years and wish to move my files to the iMac. I already have the Office 2008 software. Can I simply import the .pst files into Entourage?
I am trying to import a video file that I dowloaded off youtube and converted to a .mov into iMovie. However, iMovie will not import it. It's not that it has an error when trying to import, it's that it won't even let me import it - the file is unselectable in the file browser for importing. I have tried to convert it to a .mp4 and that doesn't work either. How do I get this to work?
In short, I can't import any new files into itunes except for from the itunes store. When I downloaded an mp3 online, and tried to drag and drop it to itunes in order to import, it says "Attempting to copy to the disc Macintosh HD failed: You do not have enough access priveleges for this operation. I am the only admin on the computer, i have gone through music>itunes>Itunes music and made read/write for me on all three under "get info" when trying to import a CD it says "the song couldn't be converted, you don't have write access to your itunes media folder or a folder within it" I spotlighted "itunes media" and found nothing. Next I repaired disk permissions from disk utility, still the same problems.
I have HD videos that I cannot import to iMovie because of their .mts format. I converted them in .mov. When I import them in iMovie, only 9 to 10 seconds are imported. How can I import my entire HD videos on iMovie?
I have a folder on my Mac with about 100 .eml files, which were dragged and dropped out of Microsoft Entourage a few months ago. Is there way to import this whole folder and its .eml files into a mailbox inside Apple Mail? I can do it one by one by opening a single .eml file in Mail and moving it to the mailbox: Message menu -> Move To -> [Mailbox]
However I would like to do this in one go. I tried EmailConverterLite from the App Store, and while it works quite well, imported messages do NOT have a paperclip symbol if they have attachments. This is really hard as you would have to look through all messages to find messages with attachments.
This happens again and again, and it's EXTREMELY irritating. Â
I am trying to import some existing JPEGs on my Desktop. When I try Import in Aperture, the file browser simply does not see most files and folders. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. It seems to happen on a whim. This is very bad, I have just about had it with Aperture. And yes, permissions are set correctly. Â
On what basis Aperture sees or does not see certain files/folders?
Having recently rebuilt my ebooks library after buying a new Macbook Pro a month ago, I tried to import them all to my iTunes library today. problems arose when I could not find the 'Books' section in the sidebar to drag and drop, even under iTunes>General>Preferences. I also attempted the 'Add To Library' method, but nothing would happen. I'm looking to import these ebooks to my iPad, and having messed around with third party apps in the past, would like to do it through iTunes. Â
I'm not changing back to a Windows user, it's just that I *need* to get my contacts onto Outlook 2007 as well. My contacts in Entourage are organized nicely, with each contact's name and e-mail address. Really simple information. I then go to "Export", and choose to export the contacts to a "tab-delimited text" file (it's my only choice). Basically, I get this .txt file. I then go to my Outlook 2007, and have tried importing both "Comma Separated Values" and "Tab Separated Values" with my .txt file. Unfortunately, while each contact's name and e-mail DO get imported, the format is completely messed up. I get this "map field" window when I choose to import by Tab Separated Values, but I've tried all different combinations, and every time, the names and e-mails simply jumble up altogether. Has anyone tried importing Entourage contacts into Outlook 2007? And if so, can you please give me some instructions on how to do so?
I have downloaded Outlook to Mac Mail software to convert all my emails into .mbox format. However when I try to import them, Apple Mail detects my Sent Items and Outbox, but not my Inbox. When I try to import Inbox alone from a folder, it shows 'no valid mbox files', but my Entourage is able to import all my .mbox folders. On a side note, the .mbox files actually shows as a Microsoft Entourage folder with the Entourage file type icon there. Is this why Apple Mail cannot import it?
I have just bought my first Mac and finding iTunes limiting. I am running a Windows XP desktop, laptop and OSX 10.5 MacPro laptop. I then have a Western Digital World Book 500GB NAS with a share holding all my music so that it is centralized. I have setup iTunes so that it's default library is the WD NAS Share "Music" and deselected the option to copy to local library. The Mac is my wife's computer so I will not be adding new music through its iTunes, but from my XP Desktop to the drive mapping "MUSIC" (simple cut and paste). My frustration is that I can manually import (using iTunes) the contents from "MUSIC".
But any new songs I add to the share "MUSIC" from outside of iTunes will not be recognized/added in the iTunes library without doing another manual import of the new file/folder. I have seen a post for sync'ing two iTunes libraries, which may or may not be possible to sync'd Mac iTunes with Windows iTunes through shares, but I really prefer not to go this route and currently using iTunes only on the Mac. Is there a script or plug-in for Leopard or iTunes that will monitor for changes on the ntwork share then add the new songs to iTunes's libary automatically? Maybe I am thinking to far outside of the box? By the way I do work in the IT field so I am willing to do some more "duct-taping" to make this work
I have been using Automator to import hundreds of text files into one excel workbook using the "Import Text files to Excel Workbook" action. Automator works great for all files that are tab delimited. However I have another set of data that are output with a varying amount of spaces between each column. I cannot change the way they are output.
Automator gives me the option of choosing "space" as a delimiter, but it wont give me the option to "Treat consecutive delimiters as one" that Import within excel does. I also tried to record my actions within excel many times but it didn't work even with just one file. So what I need is a way to get these text files into one excel workbook as separate worksheets with the data separated correctly into columns.
I am using a trial version of Office 2011 for Mac! When I try to import the outlook pst files from my pc and follow the correct procedure it doesn´t work. Outlook only says that it has encountered an unknown problem and is shutting down.I talked with Microsoft support but they don´t support their trial versions only premium. That I think is funny because if the trial version is not working how can you trust them that the premium version is working.Â
